  • Absolutely unbelievably baaaaaad day yesterday OMG!!!!!!

OK so today is a new day and a new week here (Sunday is the start of the working week here).

    Plan for today -

b/fast - 2 slices toast, 30g slice yellow cheese, Turkish salad, chopped up salad
    snack - banana
lunch - Minestrone soup, chopped salad, 1 tblspn light may
    snack - orange
dinner - Minestrone soup, chicken stir fry, stir-fried cabbage

only about 3 syns in that lot and hoping to keep it that way to try and make up for some of the damage yesterday - it'll take me a whole week of low syns to do that though!!!!

Hope everyone else is fairing better than me this weekend.

  • Unfortunately I haven't been doing any better than you MedMum. We ended up going out on Friday night and had a meal out, which wasn't so bad I think (lean burger, salad, avoided the chips and bun) but I then drank quite a lot of wine :o Yesterday wasn't so great either to be honest, although I did eat a lot of SF food, my syns were hi and I did no exercise!

Never mind, back on plan today and it'll look like this:
    B: fruit,VLF yogurt
L: smoked trout and ham, salad (with coleslaw), slice of bread
D: roast lamb, potatoes and vegetables, fruit salad.

    Snacks: fruit, VLF yogurt,
HEA milk with tea, HEB bread ( 2 slice 400g WM loaf)

I've managed to find the PDFs of the syns/HE that I had from when I was an online member so I'm going to print those out and do a proper plan for the week today - I want it to be 100% so I really get into the habit of it.

  • Thanks for making me look at the positive things yesterday MG - I also had a huge amount of SF veg throughout the day - it was just the sweet stuff that I made for everyone else and dug in too!!!!!

I think we often get caught up on all the bad stuff and forget that we're only human and whilst doing damage we're still doing part of it correctly and that's a good thing!

    Have a great day.

  • Well, Morning Folks. Keep with it MM - you are an inspiration to us all.
Last weeks WI was a sts  - blessing in disguise goodness knows why it was. I am sure this week will make up for it. This week, yes, it was our wedding anniversary so we went out. Up until that point I had been super good. But the last two days will have ruined that. Here's hoping that sticking to the plan from now till wednesday will result in a slight downward trend :D
Once the ball is rolling it's ok. It's getting the moss covered thing to shift in the first place that I having trouble with. Hubby being at home really isn't helping at all.
Wednesday brings another celebration - but I am planning on synning my way through that one.

Really stuck for meal ideas without group input. Getting tired of hubby making the same stew (batch frozen) or bland rice/pasta dishes. Sigh.
  • I know what you meet Swiper - it can get a bit dull as I just don't have the imagination (and I'm also cooking for a family with preferences). I just joined up on Minimins and they have a lot of recipe ideas. There's also a list of recipes on the first page of this thread I think.
I'm hoping the weather will cheer up a bit so I begin to really enjoy salads. I'm getting fed up of stirfrys.

Oh dear, I so sympathise. I love baking and couldn't resist digging in too. After all you can't expect your guests to eat something you wouldn't eat yourself ;).

I am trying to divert myself from baking by trying new slimming world recipes. I bought the Curry Heaven book off eBay and last night I made the lamb dhansk recipe (but substituted Quorn as OH doesn't eat lamb) and the bombay potatoes. I am thinking that on a Sunday I will try and SW pudding recipe, so at least I feel like I am getting a nice homemade sweet treat evry week :D.

This is my worry too. OH cooks, but only things he has made for years. He finishes his working day 3 hours before me, so makes the dinner at night in the week and I cook at weekends. I am going to have to find a way of getting him to use a recipe. Any tips welcome ;)
  • OK so that's what I'm lacking SW dessert and baking ideas. My lot like their sweet stuff at the weekend. We don't have any of it in the house during the week but they aren't prepared to give it up at the weekend!

Well done Prudent - great loss :j

I can't get the magazine over here - I would be really really grateful if you could post that recipe for me - got some of my favourite ingredients there!!

I have several of the cookbooks which I bought the last time I was in the UK and really like 100 Extra Easy days and the 100 Green Recipes.

Thanks for that, Mediterranean Mum. I'll look out for those books. Here's the recipe:

Grilled salmon with noodles and stir-fry veg:
    Serves 4

    8 tbsp dark soy sauce
    2 tbsp tomato puree
1 level tbsp sweet chilli sauce
4cm piece fresh root ginger, peeled and finely grated
4 skinless and boneless salmon fillets
    350g dried medium egg noodles
    Fry Light
    2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
    700g mixed vegetable stir-fry
    2 tbsp light soy sauce
    Freshly ground black pepper

1 Preheat your grill to medium-high. Mix together the dark soy sauce, tomato puree, sweet chilli sauce and ginger. Put the salmon fillets on a non-stick baking tray so they fit snugly in a single layer. Spoon over the soy mixture and grill for 8-10 minutes, or until just cooked through.

2 Meanwhile, cook the noodles according to the packet instructions, drain and keep warm.

3 Place a wok or large frying pan sprayed with Fry Light over a high heat. Stir-fry the garlic and mixed vegetables for 5-6 minutes, or until just tender. Add the light soy sauce and stir-fry for a further minute.

Divide the noodles and veg between 4 bowls or plates, top with the salmon, add a twist of black pepper and serve.

    Syns per serving
    Extra Easy 1/2
  • Thanks so much Emma37 - much appreciated.
