  • Thanks Blodwen but when I look at your total loss I feel depressed because we started about the same time and because of all my messing about up and down over the last six months I'm not as far ahead as I should be.

Yes I hear you - I'm back on track and yes I'm losing - 25lb is still 25lb and better than an extra 25lb on, but.... :(

No buts, you're absolutely right that you're 25lb or even 50lb less than you could have been - it's an achievement whichever way you look at it and however long it takes, you're on the right road so try not to get disheartened.

p.s. I hope that doesn't sound patronising- easy for me to say etc. but I know what you mean- there are people in my class who have lost quicker than me, especially as I've messed about a bit too and only just got below what I was before Christmas, and it is frustrating but I try and do what you've done and think where I'd be if I hadn't lost what I have, however much or little that may be. We should all be proud of ourselves for what we've achieved :)

I sometimes think that I should be at target by now, had I stuck to it since I started. But, I've also still been living - going out for dinner, birthdays etc. So I'd rather do it slowly, ensuring I continue with it and my weight continues to go down even if it is slow, than give up :)

    Be proud of yourself :D

You're absolutely right Psychopathbabble. I've also been "living" and yes I could have been back where I started. I am pleased with what I've done and hopefully I'll continue to lose, even at a snail's pace!

Gosh Blodwen, have you really lost 5 stone - that's amazing!

Yes, fantastic! I think we just hear about the pounds and don't realise they add up. Inspirational.
  • Thanks for the ideas - I hadn't thought of dried fruit as a snack actually. There's a lot of the branded stuff (like cereal bars etc) that I just can't get, including scan bran etc.
I just want to try and integrate then into meals.

Oooh and the other thing is that I've just realised that I've now reached halfway mark of my 50lb target so really chuffed about that too.

    Fantastic news Med Mum

Glad you had a lovely day DundeeDoll, I haven't had a day out in Edinburgh for ages but love it when I do. Big thanks to the long haulers psychopathbabble and MM on how to keep going with diet because that is the biggest challenge. I tried before and gave up due to ill health and other issues.

This week has been very positive for me. I haven't been to a class yet as I can't afford it until payday. This coming week is payday and I have my voucher from woman magazine, so really looking forward to joining. Huge thanks to all the tips and encouargement, I had an excellent week and have managed a 4lb loss. This is week one and I realise that will slow down from now on, but I am really thrilled.

Oops forgot to add today's menu:

    B. Porridge with berries and total greek yoghurt.

    s. Strawberries, melon and kiwi

    L. Feta cheese salad - feta, red onion, watercress, tomatoes, shredded cabbage and carrots, beetroot.

    D. undecided - I was away for over a week at Easter and then had an operation, so the housework was very neglected. This week has been hectic at work, so not much done either. I am going to spend a weekend doing housework, gardening, car washing etc so may not have a lot of time to cook. At least it burns off calories! I am thinking of a mushroom risotto or some sea bass.

I ordered the sw curry recipe book off ebay and it came yesterday :)
