Hi all quick syn question, I've been through the branded food directory, googled it and tried the sw website to no avail.
My darling OH bought lean pork mince today as he knew I wanted to make the meatball pasta bake but unfortunately didn't realise I needed extra lean!
The syns came out at 37 (!) when I didn't include pork as free food, and 10 when I said pork was the free food in it. Any suggestions as to which might be right? It's 9.4g fat per 100g so just under 10%.
Wondering if I grill the meatballs on a rack so the fat can drip off would make any difference?

I love cooking for guests (do it most weekends) and find that it's really easy to keep to plan and more than that actually love to be able to say that I'm totally on-plan when someone says "can you really have that on your diet?"
It's very easy to entertain and do big family celebration meals without having to destroy all your hard work.
I made the carbonara recipe from the 7 days, 7 ways booklet for dinner this evening and would definately serve that as a meal for guests. It looked, smelt and tasted lovely0 -
I am really sure I am doing something wrong as I have felt very full all day. Please can some kind person check what I have eaten and let me know if I am way out?
B. Large grilled mushroom, topped with a poached egg, 1 and 1/2 grilled tomatoes and 1/4 can baked beans,
L. bowl homemade lentil soup (lentils, veg stock, carrots, celery, leeks and swede) plus and apple and a kiwi chopped up and served with a little total 0% greek yoghurt,
d. I made the carbonara from the 7 days, 7 ways booklet (quorn version) and served with rocket and cucumber. Muller light Turkish delight flavoured (wonderful)

Evening all, WI and STS so ok with that. Saw Dr who put my mind at rest about certain health issues. Read an article on aspartame poisoning and am wondering if some of my symptoms are due to aspartame, only way to find out is by cutting it out of my diet so will have to try it.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend and well done to all you losers,to those in need. Keep the faith all :A:A
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Looks ok to me, if you are feeling too full you could try smaller portions, its all about feeling that full signal which tells you to stop eating. Have trouble 'feeling' that signal myself, especially when eating bread sticks :rotfl:Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Couldn't help laughing. I read that as you'd been watching Dr Who!:rotfl:Glad you had some answers.psychopathbabble wrote: »Hi all quick syn question, I've been through the branded food directory, googled it and tried the sw website to no avail.

Syns on-line seems to use 8% fat as the magic number. So less than is free and more than is 5.5 syns per 100g. I'd agree that letting the fat drain is a good way of cutting back. I remember a conversation in group about low fat pork mince being very hard to get hold of. For the future, the recipe might work with beef.
Out for supper with friends tonight. They made the perfect SW meal: steak, jacket potato and undressed salad with balsamic if you wanted it! Everyone enjoyed it, me especially.;)0 -

I don't know about the syn value but how about making it with half pork and half lentils and then you're cutting down on the fat. I've also grated up one each onion, carrot and courgette and added that to mince meat - great taste and you're adding in free veggies too.Mediterranean Mum
