... just to say hi

I had a week of bingeing over Easter. Was supposed to be only 4 days, but I couldn't hold on until Good Friday and I started eating on the Monday before. It turned into a week long Pig/Frog fest which wasn't great, but I'm glad to say I hopped back on the wagon on Monday 1st April, and it's now Friday 12th, and I haven't binged :D

I'm happy with my size and how I look. My size 12 jeans are fitting nicely and there isn't any fat forcing it's way over the wasteband  I'm not getting on the scales as that's a binge trigger point for me so not going there.

I shall be thirty-ten next weekend (you're right, thanks, I don't look it do I?) and am determind to keep my head straight and lose the chaotic eating for good as I'll be a bit too old for all that malarky me thinks :D

Great to read MedMum is still ok, and Stef, TakeitEasy and Macpep are doing well too. The stalwarts know a thing or too so welcome newbys and hope they give you as much support as they've given me.

Thirty ten ha ha like that:rotfl:
I ll soon be forty ten then:D
:DBe extra nice to newbys yeah:D
  • Well, I've just turned forty fourteen then!!

So far the weekend has been a total disaster food wise. I have drunk a bit too much wine and having guests for dinner two nights running has been a bit much.

Anyway, back on the plan now and planning lamb chops and veg tonight for dinner. I thinkI,ll have to do a food plan tonight as I'm shopping tomorrow and as Maman said I think planning is the key to success.

just asking and definitely not judging... but why does having guests mean that you have to be off-plan?

I love cooking for guests (do it most weekends) and find that it's really easy to keep to plan and more than that actually love to be able to say that I'm totally on-plan when someone says "can you really have that on your diet?"

It's very easy to entertain and do big family celebration meals without having to destroy all your hard work.

Joined slimming world last August and so far have lost over 3 stone. I've got another 2 pound to loose to get 3 1/2 stone. Think that will take a couple of weeks. I like a slow steady weight loss- don't want saggy skin. What I've found works is planning and double checking syn values. I'm also not treating this as a diet. I can eat lots and basically am eating tastier food than I used to. I allow myself some treats.
Health wise I have never felt healthier- I have literally not had a proper cold in the time I have been on this diet. Yes odd day of sniffles but never longer than a day. On a day when I eat only 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, I feel like I haven't had enough. Find it shocking when going to visit someone and find they might not even have 1 portion a day!
    Todays menu:
Breakfast- cheesy omelette - made with part of hea, mushrooms, spaghetti hoops and bacon plus cup of tea with milk from part of hea.
Lunch- lettuce, cucumber, beetroot, pickled onions with 1 slice of left over pizza (synned yesterday) followed by rice pudding made with cream soda and muller light topped with blueberries
Snacks- melon, pear, raspberries plus ryvita minis (heb)
Dinner- out - but swap chips for new potatoes or jacket and peas for other veg.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

You're absulotely right MM, but the problem here was bad planning really. I only just restarted SW and I'd promised one group of guests ages ago that I'd do them a Thai meal (I did a cooking course), which used quite a lot of coconut milk and sugar. I should try and work out the syns in some of the ingredients, maybe it's not too bad.
friday, the food wasn't the issue (meat, potatoes and lot of veg, and I didn't have dessert) but I did have more than the planned 175 ml of wine:o

is it correct to use a rough conversion rate of 20 cals is one syn? As I'm not signed up online to SW I can't use their syn database and sone ingredients I use are not on the PDFs I have from my previous online membership.

wow a Thai cooking course - I'm jealous

I use quite a lot of coconut milk and have actually found one that's 67 cals per 100ml so really not bad and I've used sweetener instead of sugar and it's been fine

but yes I hear you re the planning cos you definitely need to plan when guests are coming but that's half the fun!

I'm also not a member (a lapsed online member) so don't have the exact conversion but I'm sure someone here will let you (and me!) know what the conversion is.

    happy planning

I think using 20 calories to 1 syn is the accepted practice if you really can't find syn values, but I usually manage to find the more obscure ones somewhere on line!
  • What's the brand of the coconut milk MM?

    So today I have had:
B: nothing, felt a bit hungover
    L: 3 slices WM bread from a 400g loaf, cheese, 50g Branston pickle (1tbsp,
    2 syns)
D: lamb rack, lots of veg, left over thai chicken salad and eggs.

I don't know the syns for the salad and eggs but I'm reckoning not much because there's no added fat or oil in them - the syns would cone from sugar.
So it looks like a red day if I avoid potatoes with dinber - is that right?

I don't have one in the house at the moment so can't check but I'm not sure that whatever brand I can get over here is what you can get there.

I'll try and get one and let you know.
