Dinner this evening is to be home made burgers, wedges and served with a salad.

SNAP! I'm having the same for supper but with mushrooms, tomatoes and peas.:)

She told me I had to have SF when doing green days, she became a consultant after EE came in. Told her I lost 2 st on Green days without SF, she just said well its changed now and you have to have 1/3 SF with everything!

Might go and do an Aqua med class this am, but will have to see how my legs are when I get going

I didn't realise that SF was mandatory on Green days (I've only ever had them by accident) but whichever way you look at it we know that fruit and veg is good for us.

I can't remember whether it was posted on here but there's a super offer on Groupon at the moment for LA Fitness Gyms. It's as cheap as £17 for 10 day passes (I think price varies a bit in different parts of the country). I'm planning to use mine for a swim/steam room/sauna but I know my local one does aquafit and all sorts of other classes plus the usual machines. Good Bodymagic.

I'm just worried about the wine as my consultant was going on and on about how bad it was and how I should go without it for a month to give the weightloss a boost! Normally I enjoy a bottle of wine both nights at the weekend and a few beers which I know isn't great. But then its a lifestyle change that I need to get my head around. I have a stressful job and wine and a film at the weekend is my treat. Anyway it is great to be able to come on here to chat to like minded people

I can see what stef's saying about sugars in syns but I would be able to lose (and have) with the wine you're having (not a beer drinker). I suppose it's like many 'tweaks' that people find suit them. Lots in my group choose to give up bread. I think that's partly because some can't stop at one slice but others because they really find it helps them to lose. You should lose steadily to begin with lantanna but if your loss plateaus then it's worth looking at what you can change /tighten up on to get the weightloss going again. It's really important that you fit SW into your lifestyle otherwise you're likely to give up.

Ive not any bread yet as nimble is proving illusive to find!!! So I mite just stay off it. Any tasty italian or curry recipes? I want to make something nice to go with that wine on sat!

Alcohol is discouraged as a regular thing as it is high in natural sugars from the fruits that are used to produce it especially wine. If you were to use the syns for other treats that were lower in sugars then you would see a better weight loss.

I'm not sure about this- alcohol has never been discouraged in anything I've read or heard in class, and many people successfully lose by regularly using their syns for alcohol, whether that's a bit each day or saving them for the weekend. Syns are there to be used for whatever you want, and this goes back to the fruit sugars debate a few weeks ago. Pretty much all syns are high in carbs (which are all ultimately sugar) or fat or both, which is what makes them synned, so no syns are any 'healthier' than any others. You might say that alcohol is empty calories but then something like tinned or cooked fruit would arguably be 'healthier' as they contain fibre but they contain a lot of sugar as well, so saying that sugar as syns is 'bad' wouldn't really make sense.

It technically isn't but as you say, it's always good to have SF if possible, and I do on a red or green day unless the meal wouldn't suit having veg in. We had a similar discussion in class on Monday- someone was saying they were desperately trying to think of ways to get SF into a breakfast of boiled eggs on EE, and the consultant pointed out that you don't have to have them with every meal, but should try to have 1/3 if possible. Someone pointed out that some of the recipes in the magazine (the meatball pasta bake being one of them I think) have no or very little SF in, and the leader said again that it's recommended but not essential at every meal. She also said you can do the '1/3 over a day' thing that many people do but I haven't heard her say explicitly before.

You can have 2 slices of any wholemeal bread from a 400g loaf or 1 slice from an 800g loaf (60g), it doesn't have to be Nimble. I buy a small Hovis and freeze it as only really use it for toast - amazing that it lasts months!

You can find loads of SW recipes here. I really like a courgette pasta bake one from the magazine a few months ago, but can't find the recipe atm. Also the Hairy Dieters lamb, spinach and potato curry is lovely (I'm always banging on about it!), recipe here :)

That's one of the things I love about this thread. Good, polite, informative discussion. At my group, that's unheard of. My (nice but dim) consultant just trots out stuff she's been fed by SW while people gossip in the background. Thinking seems to be an alien concept.:)

Good luck, although I'm sure you'll be fine. It can be daunting but if you know anyone there so what, you're all there for the same reason and it's nothing to be embarrassed about :)

Saying that, my mum is at my brother's in our old hometown this week and is going to a class there as a one-off today- we just knew that it would be the same leader as we had when we went 15+ years ago as she dominates classes in the area, and it is! Will actually be interesting as she is a very successful consultant (if very pushy - maybe that's why?!) but I have never seen her slim, either when we went or subsequently in the local paper for various things. Anyway, the point of this ramble is to say my mum is hoping she doesn't recognise her and she doesn't see anyone she used to know, but I said the same thing to her- no-one can say anything about you going to a fat club when they're there themselves! :rotfl:

Me again- can you tell I'm bored at work?! We're having a taster evening next week and was trying to think of what to make. Think I've decided on hummus and crudites, found a good recipe here . Has anyone made their own low fat hummus? I seem to remember doing it years ago but did put sesame seeds in, won't be doing that this time. Might put some red peppers (from a jar) in though :)

I am such an eejit . I was going to re-subscribe to the magazine, got a letter in yesterday saying sorry you are leaving. I had checked my bank account a few weeks ago as I wasn't sure if I had re-subscribed or not, there was £16.50 taken from my account from ps publishers, thats ok I thought, I did renew...turns out that was for some golf show ticket for DH . So now I have to re-sbuscribe, don't know if I will get the issue you are all talking about, I wanted to make the meatballs. I got so excited when the mag came in :rotfl:

Blodwen - I have never made hummus, dont really care for it, and I too am bored at work & trying to look busy :rotfl:
