Make 2013 a year to remember with Slimming World

I'm off to join slimming world tonight! Can't wait to get started as I feel rubbish about myself at the minute. I tried it before but didn't follow it properly and gave up after a couple of weeks. This time I'm joining a group that I can walk to and I'm all in.
Just wondering - any time I have been on a diet in the past I have ended up spending a fortune buying food all the time.
Does anyone else do slimming world whilst on a DMP? How do you manage? I am single so cooking for one mostly. Also I have no freezer as it broke a few months ago and I have not yet been able to replace it.
All tips greatly received.
A freezer would be really useful! You don't need to buy one...register on your local freecycle group on the internet, bet you have one within a week...for FREE! Though you might need to buy a friend or neighbour a bottle of wine to get it home for you if you don't have your own transport.
Freecycle was lifesaver during my IVA and still useful now.
Once you have a freezer see if you have a local Farmfoods. I buy a lot of frozen veg and chicken breast and bacon for the plan, saves a lot of money.0 -
Just read back and saw macpep1 already suggested freecycle, d'oh.0

I see. Ok. I'll find another group then.
It's worth it even if you just go for one week, get the talk and the new books and then you can go it alone if you want to with the help of the thread. Red and Green still work and many people use still use them.SW don't seem to distinguish much between different wines. I've just looked them up and for 175ml all reds and dry whites are 6 syns; sparkling wines and medium whites are 6.5 and sweet white are 6.5 for 125ml - doesn't show 175 ml - I wouldn't be able to drink 125mls of sweet white yet alone 175ml:rotfl:
I generally drink red wine, although occasionally I'll have a dry white, both of which are 6 syns for 175ml.

Like you, I virtually never drink wine that's not dry (unless the occasional pudding wine and that's just a tiny glass). The values are a bit difficult to fathom. For red (my usual) it says that a 125 ml glass is 4.5 syns. That'd be 6 glasses in a bottle so 27 syns. But, a 250 ml glass is 8.5 syns so 3 glasses would be 25.5 syns. So you save syns by having large glasses!! RESULT!!!:rotfl:0 -

Even better if you have medium glasses (175ml) 4 glasses at 6 syns = 24 syns:D

I lost 5lb the week before last, but put 4.5 back on last week... not even sure how. Struggling to find inspiration for things to cook cheaply, especially when tired and not at work. When I'm at work, my food is all prepared and there ready to eat so it's easy!
Blodwen - thank you - very true.
Re the wine. The lower the alcohol content the lower the syns. Buy the small bottles and you don't over drink your syn allowance - and you save.
Re the scan bran. Use it to make banana muffins - no sugar, very filling. Or Carrot cake... 3 syns a slice if memory serves. very filling...delish too ! Great with cottage cheese on, buy the cheaper -value brands as these are more watery and it breaks down the cardboard. - Serve with grapes for a textural difference.
Failed to WI this morning planned, mostly because of being up before the dawn corus toddler woes. So WI is in the morning - as is proper getting back on the wagon.0 -

No extra easywas that a seperate book?
The 2013 Food Optimising Book (the book that has the weigh in record pages at the back) includes the Extra Easy Info. The Red/Green plans are included in a separate book. I can't remember what the 2012 book was like but think it might have all have been in one book (and was a tad confusing)?0 -

That sounds like a good day's menu lantanna. Melon is SS too so that's great. Not sure what sort of beans you had (green are best) for dinner but probably got just enough SFs in at lunch and breakfast and fruit snacks. Why are you worrying about the wine? I don't see any syns today so that's up to 15 saved towards the weekend and a couple more days to go!Even better if you have medium glasses (175ml) 4 glasses at 6 syns = 24 syns:D

Sadly 4 x 175ml glasses don't make a bottle.:(0
