What are potato scallops wizkid? When my mam made them they had batter on???Hi, Maman With BATTER on they become Dabs or fritters Scallops are just plain slices of potato fried in fry lite. Simples ! Yummy
The scallops I know have batter on as well- used to have them from the chippy and our local one now still does them. Loved them but always felt sick afterwards! Must be regional variations as my Southern hubby has never had them and never seen them in a chippy (reminds me of that Peter Kay sketch where he's in a chip shop in London - "have you nowt moist?!" :rotfl: )
Well done Wizkid, fab loss
Hope your feeling better soon Stef. Was talking to a mate at the weekend who works in a hotel- he's off as the hotel has been shut due to 50% of staff and customers coming down with norovirus. He managed not to get it but there's a lot going around at the moment *hugs*2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Morning all,
Interesting discussion about weight vs. size. As I said yesterday, I'm weird because even if I lose a lot I don't go down much in size - must be the opposite to the girl you mentioned Stef! I don't think classes should change to not weighing but ultimately it is size, how you look and feel and body composition that count rather than weight - if I was a size 10 and healthy I wouldn't care what weight I was!
EE for me today:
B: Berries, pineapple, FF Greek yog, 1 weetabix (half, golden syrup (2)
L: L/O Quorn stir fry and egg fried rice
T: Lamb, spinach and potato curry and rice, pitta bread (7)
S: Alpen light (half, pineapple
Have a good day folks
Think i'm the same.. Even though I've lost 2st, I've not had one comment asking if I've lost weight.. have gone from 18 jeans to comfy fit in 16's... I will never be my recommended weight for my height will be delighted to be a size 12 again but just want to feel comfortable in myself.. think i'll know when that happens
had a lovely lie in and feeling far better today.. late breakfast lunch
B/L: bacon, scrambled egg, toms, mushies, toast (B)
will have a snack mid afternoon then out for evening meal, carvery so wont be too bad choices wise.. will just avert my eyes from the dessert display! :rotfl:
hope you're feeling better soon stef..
well done losers and good luck on WI's x0 -

whilst for women its all about being a size 0-20 etc for men its nothing like that and perhaps our weight goes around the stomach area lol

Woke up at 1.50am with the intense urge to be sick but nothing will come up. Am extremely nauseous and have a really dodgy belly. Struggling to stay awake with every bone in my body aching. Not long had a call from daughter at work who says she is being sent home as she has been sick so seems the virus that went around her work place a fortnight ago is coming back to bite everyone on the butt this time.

Will try and make it in to WI tonight as it is the Biggest loser session for son to receive his sash. Hubby has been teasing him that he also has to have a fairy wand and a tiara too when photos are taken :rotfl:
Hope you get better quickly Stef and you make it to your sons award this evening xx

All the chippies round here do battered scallops, I'd be gutted if they didn't!! LOL I must admit to loving them

i think it would be one sure fire way of alienating any men doing slimming world ..

One of my stand in consultants has gone from 24 stone to 11.5stone and from a size 30 to a 10/12 so yes for women it is perfectly doable, there are also many success stories on SW online. My son has gone from 17.5 stone to 13 stone 1lb and from a 42" waist to a 34".
If you think people will be alienated by a no weigh policy and only going on an inch loss how do you think people like my husband feel when the BMI calculator and his rhuematologist still say he is overweight at 6ft and 13 stone when to look at him there isnt an ounce of fat on him, yet if he goes to 12.5stone all you see is bone jutting out and leaves him looking anorexic.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Yep, same here - will be much more by clothes size than weight, and people of the same weight and height can look so different. I do the weighing at my class so see what people weigh and some people shorter than me look much slimmer than I did at their weight, but it's just one of those things, everyone is different.i think it would be one sure fire way of alienating any men doing slimming world ..

No, obviously that was just an example (unless I was 9ft tall!). I don't think all men think like that though- my OH wants to get back into clothes he wore 10-15 years ago. Chances are he'll never weigh what he did then even if/when they fit him but it doesn't matter - he hardly ever weighs himself (only when I nag him to) and for him and a lot of people it's the thing they have to face everyday, fitting into clothes, that is important. This is what I intend to go by when I'm at target (as I think target members like Maman do?) as I probably won't be weighing in every week forever.

I think Rob meant that a 19st person wouldn't get into size 10 clothes at that weight, but that wasn't what I was saying (misquoted again, *sigh*). I think a no-weigh policy would put some people off as a lot of people like the quantitative definition of weight, but including measurements as well might be an idea. Agree about the BMI - I know they always use muscular athletes as the example of people who don't fit the BMI model but it can be flawed for us mere mortals too; the fact that it doesn't discriminate by sex is one, as well as not taking into account body composition. At least at SW, unlike some slimming clubs, you can set your own target wherever you want, so if you're happy above the healthy BMI range then so be it.

That's right Blodwen I only go to WI very occasionally and never weigh at home. I have jeans in a few sizes and when they start to feel a bit tight I know I've been overdoing the treats/flexi meals and rein myself in.
I have been to WI this morning. I could manage without but I've made some friends there so it's good to catch up. I'd put on 2.5lbs in the past 3 weeks. I'm still in range and under target so nothing to worry about. I'm away over Easter and eating out twice in coming week so when I do my meal plan/shopping list later it'll be very SW friendly.
Our group was manic today. Apparently 67 people weighed in and 70 is the maximum allowed. Consultant was beaming (kerching!!:D) but lots of grumbling from members.
Hope you start to feel better soon stef.:)0 -
Hi guys,
That was exactly what I was going to say Steph ~ are you saying Rob, that a 19 st person couldn't get into a size 10 eventually? I've been as much as 21st, and a lady I worked with said I'd just have to realise that I'd never be a size 10, and to go for something more realistic like a 16
A family member also told me that our family is full of chubbies and I'd never get under 12st. Although my mum and dad are thin, my aunty and nan are chubbies. But they over eatso doh!
I must say at the moment I'm a curvy size 12, and I haven't weighed myself for a good while (we know why) but I expect I'm around 13st 2lb. As I'm 5ft 5 1/2 in I'm 3st over weight according to 'the book' but like I said I'm a size 12
I'd love for the scales to say 10 st, or even 11 st, just so I knew I actually was thin. I'll have a look next thursday and see how I've done, then maybe rethink?

Hi Blodwen
Sorry for butting in, and apologies if i am way off track as well...I dont think it should change to not weighing either. I think that would be an ineffective way in which to calculate weight loss.
How would this work for people who were morbidly obese and had been for many years who had an excessive amount of loose skin , as we all know can be very heavy.
I do agree that body composition, and how you feel is WAY more important than your weight. I too wouldn't care if i weighed 13 stone (per se) if i was toned, fit & healthy. The number shouldnt matter (although we all know it does, even to me to some extent). I am hoping to fit into a size 10/small 12 at goal and whatever weight i am then so be it.stef240377 wrote: »Hi all, not on as much today as am poorlyWoke up at 1.50am with the intense urge to be sick but nothing will come up.
