Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, baked beans, 2 clementines
Lunch: LM Vegemince, onion, tomato, chickpea curry and white rice (micro rice, so syns but not sure how many yet?)
Dinner: Cod, peas, some kind of potato
    Snacks: raisins (2 syns),
    HEA: skimmed milk in tea/egg
    HEB:Not sure?

Does this look ok? Thanks for any advice!

I would suggest that you would need more superfrees - Peas are only free - not superfree so your dinner has no form of superfree at all!

Next time you could try adding mushrooms/tomatoes with brekkie, some carrots/cauli/broc with lunch - or fruit & some other veg or salad with your dinner!

Where is the micro rice from? These are usually in the region of 1 & 3 syns for plain white rice

HEB you could use a slice of wholemeal bread (from 800g loaf) & use as breadcrumbs on your fish? Or 2 x alpen light bars?

Also - try to have more syns - they are there to be used & you may find it easier the closer you get to target to decrease them!

    Morning all,
    Hello fellow slimmers!

Had my first weigh in today - gulp- 18st 9lb. Cant believe I weigh that much and am gutted with myself. However I am now looking forwards, not back

Well done on your positive attitude! I was shocked when I weighed in at 19st 1 in April but am now somewhere around 14 and a half stone (depending on WI tonight!) and couldn't be happier with the change in how I look and feel - SW works! :D

Anyone guess how im spending my saturday night?
Sitting with the old and new books on my lap, a pen in one hand and a highlighter in the other. Going over every item in the syns list marking them on which has gone up or down in value between books so i do not become complacent with 'thinking' i know all the syn values and i am shocked at how many things have changed, alot are only subtle changes like 0.5 syns here and there but others are considerably more. Will carry on for now as only just made it past the bakery items

The bit in bold made me LOL! Have to admit, I've had the new books since before xmas but haven't looked at them- will do tonight at class. Thanks for the heads up, will have to check the pasta n sauce values as well - only have one every few weeks but it all counts.

Been 100% on track since Weds so hoping to lose a good chunk of the xmas gain tonight - fingers crossed. Got a busy week but have planned out the week's menus and going to make some speed soup tonight (or as OH thought I said, swede soup- it may be called that from now on!). EE today:

    B: Porridge (B), milk (A), banana
    L: Scouse (1), satsuma
T: Last of the Spanish chicken (3)
    S: Curly Wurly (6)

Have a good week all :)

    Hi

Can I join you please for motivation etc.

I managed to lose a stone last year by upping my activity but still need to drop around four stone - not least because I've 3 lots of surgery coming up over the next 18 months! .

As a start I dug out my old SW bumf last week and vaguely started yesterday with what I had in so need to work on menu plans ready for shopping tomorrow.

So today is a bit like this

    Green plan

B - egg ('fried' in a spray of Frylight) on w/m toast (HE B) (with a smidge of low fat spread (2 syns).

L - risotto with quorn 'chicken' bits.

    D - sausage (8.5 syns) n mash, carrots & greens, gravy (3 syns)

S - banana, clementines, cereal bar (6.5 syns)

I think I've logged it properly, feel free to let me know otherwise :)

E.T.A. semi skimmed milkfor coffees - HE A

    Hi Eltee,

Just looking at your menu it appears you are having 20 syns but only one HE - could you change it around in some way by having meat or cereal bar as HEB (although don't think sausages come under that) or changing to EE? If you have some superfree with your breakfast and lunch then everything would fit into EE, and just having 1 HEA and 1 HEB would fit into that. The syns value of sausages would then reduce and you could have real chicken in your risotto if so desired :)

Feeling good today. Am off work and the sun is shining :)

So, todays menu....I think! An EE day.
    B. Bacon, egg, beans and mushrooms. Apple

    L. Chicken sandwich (HEB) and salad. Muller greek style yogurt (0.5)

    D. Mr T's half fat pork sausage x 2 (4), mash, cauli, carrots, onions fried in frylite, and some gravy (syns TBC)

Snacks. Sugar free jelly (0.5) I think? maybe a curly wurly or a fudge

HEA, not sure yet, maybe have a bit of cheese on my salad when I have lunch

Have a great day everyone :D

Hi, I have made mushroom soup with 1 carrot 1 box of chestnut mushrooms 1 potato, lentils, split peas, onion stock cube, salt and pepper. Can I eat this anytime or as a starter.
I don't want to spoil my week. also do I need to have all my syns?
  • Hi Folks,

Glad to see this thread, I didn't participate in the 2012 thread and I've only recently joined SW with my partner. We have all the info to hand as a family member was a SW member with great results and they were able to donate their books to us.

I read that people would 100% recommend joining the group? Although we have support from my relative, I'm a bit reluctant. We have the motivation - a 2 week break in Florida and we want to drop a few stones each!

Any suggestions, other than the obvious, are greatly appreciated. I assume we can use this thread to ask any questions we might have?

    Thank you!
  • Nessie - thanks for your advice. I've decided to scrap the peas and have a large salad instead. I've also eaten more fruit than stated aswell as some rice cakes and crisps as syns. I actually feel really full, much more so than if I had had sandwich, crisps, choc all afternoon!
  • Well..how heartbreaking is this. 30+ syns yesterday. 31 syns again today. Dad's B'day. I'd been so on the ball until visiting them. (they think i need to gain.. all I can feel is the extra weight around my middle now) :embarasse:cry: I never used to be this obsessed with my food. I kinda resent it.

:wall:It's beyond heartbreaking, it's down right soul destroying. :(

I got this far without excuses and now I find I am surrounded by them.:( What the hell is wrong with me. :oI want to exercise but as the door on the lounge has broken I know ZUmba or Wii will wake dd2.:(

Welcome. :wave:Yes feel free to ask away. The answers aren't always the ones we are hoping for though. Use the SW website too for inspiration and ideas.
wizkid1 - My advice is don't use syns if you don't need them today, that gives you leeway for wobbly days..(though not months like I seem to be having)

Eltee - Hi Too.. Keep syns to 15 max to ensure you lose.

sugaJen  helloooo! Expect a group of peoples all with the same aim. Healthy Eating, Lifestyle changes and supporting others. The consultant will go through the book with you while everyone else does their weigh in. Then theres the sit down -image therapy- No one should be made to feel bad about their gains any more that bigged up for their losses. Depending on how long your consultant has been running her group there will be plenty of laughter and the odd tongue in cheek game. Menu ideas, bargain tips and so on. :DHave fun.. and make friends.
    I have . I started at over 19 stone.

Right.. I am off to sulk and cry in my corner. Hubby has offered to turf out all the snack stuff. :rotfl:bless him, but I do think the food bank will benefit from my stupidity. :T
