    Hi guys

I have purchased at Tefal Actifry after I was given a code for 50% off. It arrived today and I was wondering if I could possibly do slimming world chips in it?

What ya think? Does anyone else use one?

I do use it for that, yes, I also do some herby potoes (Frankie & Benny style), chop potatoes into small cubes, spray with frylight, salt, and various herbs pop on for 25-30 minutes - they are lush, I don't think you are supposed to put anything in other than the oil but I have never had any problems....enjoy

Banjo - I too have cuts on my fingers from cutting butternut squash, fortunatley my knife's not so good so I've done less damage!!

Stef - surely there are benefits to eating a while tub of grapes as oppossed to a Mars Bar, more fibre, slower sugar release, longer to digest - and I guess from slimming worlds point of view, takes longer to eat and you feel like you've eaten more, probably fill you for longer too?

First weigh in last night LOST 3lb !!!!

I'm very pleased and hoping to lose a couple each week, is that reasonable? I've never stuck to anything for more than a couple of days in the past as it's always made me want to eat more and I've felt deprived. This seems to be working for me so far!

  • I can completely understand the whole sugar/fruit/mullers thing, but I guess it's all just things to think about if and when your weight loss slows down as Stef said. It's all very interesting to read :)

I lost 0.5 so 0.5 to go for 1.5stone but I'm happy with that. Need to start posting food diaries again to keep me on track a little more. It's my days off that I can't control my eating, as I often don't have a lot to do so it's boredom munching.

Im not desputing the health benefits of eating the grapes over the mars bar. Just pointing out that no matter what you are eating the sugar is still sugar whether it be from natural source or artificial and we also need to be aware of the amount we are eating.
Interestingly there has just been an article on BBC news regarding the juicing issue that crops up in group. Dietician type woman goes into a school in america, asks 2 kids to follow one task each, first child to juice 6 oranges and drink juice, 2nd child to peel and eat 6 oranges who then vomits as he gets to number 4. Highlighting how easy it is to consume more by juicing and then stating by juicing you lose the fibre and are then just drinking the sugars which makes you feel like drinking more because you dont feel satisified. Whereas eating the oranges one after the other your body gets full and fibre overloaded which causes the sickness. Something that is highlighted with in SW groups.

I don't but there has been a lot of talk in class form people that do. Apparently you can count the oil as HE or syns or pour frylight into it, which gives pretty much the same result according to peeps who have tried it :)

so thats why im only losing an average of 4lb a week .. perhaps if i cut out the 5 mullerlights i might lose more ... and the apples and bannanas

btw i havent been told to limit my fruit intake ... there were some women suggesting that bannans and potatoes stop you losing weight in group... then you look at my food diary .. oops :D

    i was being facecous
the previous poster siad that eating 5 mullerlights and apples etc meant you wouldnt lose weight .. i was saying that it must be why i only lost 4lb a week on average basically turning her whole theory on the head ... i am happy losing what i am and at 19 st 8.5 i still have a lot to lose

I got the facetiousness but not sure why you quoted me as I didn't say that at all - if you read my post I never mentioned apples and defended your stance on grapes and bananas as I agree with you there. What I said was that 5 mullerlights a day probably wasn't a good idea for anyone and it isn't - they are full of all kinds of stuff which is fine in moderation but I wouldn't call what would equate to 35 pots a week a moderate amount. If you are losing a lot eating that then great but you are the exception to the rule - the fact that you are male coupled with, as you said, still having a lot to lose will go a long way towards that.

Well done Nightowl on your fab loss! :)

    EE today:
    B: Porridge (B), milk (A), banana, maple syrup (2)
L: Chicken jalfrezi & rice, satsuma
T: Chicken jalfrezi & rice, pitta bread (7)
    S: Hifi light (3)

    :)

    Morning Everyone

Interesting debate re the mullers/grapes/bananas. I generally tend to have a toffee muller with banana in every day. No one was doing them on offer last weekend & I refuse to pay 65p for one . I used to get the Aldi ones @ 31p but they are now 3 syns. So I have not been having my mullers at all this week, will be interesting to see if this reflects on the scales next week, I have been having a banana here and there though.

Last nights dinner was a disaster, I took out what I thought was mexican chicken to have with rice, DH never labels anything we put in freezer like me, turns out it was fajhita chicken which I normally have with pasta & a sprinkling of cheese. I thought it would be fine with rice, sat down to eat and DH had salted my rice twice . scraped rice into bin, ate brocoli then put a little pasta on to eat chicken with :rotfl:

    Todays EE Plan

B - Pineapple, Melon, Berries, nat yoghurt
L - Chicken with mayo (1), WM Pitta (B+1), salad, pineapple, apple, satsuma
D - Gammon steak, herby potatoes, cauliflower
S - Banana, options (2 syns), funsize twix (5 syns)

    HEA - milk in coffees

    Have a good day everyone

Hahahaha i come back with a question of my own for a change!

Anyone know why ryvita original/dark rye are down as 2 seperate portion sizes for HEB? One shows 2 crispbreads the other 4. Have checked my old food optimising book and syns online (dont have new book to hand) and it is showing the same thing. Just want to make sure i get right amount of HEB today. Have had 2 for now to be safe.

Stef - I agree it is a lot of sugar when you look at it like that. I guess it's a case of everything in moderation, and LOADS of veg and salad!

I'm off to look at recipes that have caulifower or leek in as I have one of each in the fridge that needs eating, think there is a swede lurking in there too. Might have to rely on frozen veg and canned over the weekend as I've just had my MOT (and it didn't go staight through) on my car and paid it all without checking my balance before paying, left my self with £8 til Monday, lol. So no extra ingredients for me, will have to be creative! Lots of wholeleal pasta in the cupboard, beans and some fish in the freezer I think!

Cars are a pain in the backside, mine is off to the garage tomorrow, nasty smell no accelarating power think it may be the coil pack, aswell as the heat shield dropping again so a spot of wekding  Can say good bye to a good chunk of money this week.

Cauliflower recipe i came across the other day -

Off the top of my head (don't have books to hand), is it that you can have either but having 2 is SS whereas 4 is just S (or 2 is S and 4 is nothing?). I'm sure it's something like that!
