    Well done Macpep :j

Just had a quick read through on that article Stef - typical Daily Fail rubbish. They neglect to mention that pretty much any large town or city has a McD, burger vans and sandwich shops. On the basis of a comment from one person they have concluded that the entire population of Tamworth class McDs as health food, and say that swimming is impossible because the pool was closed only to be replaced by... a facility with a pool plus free swimming elsewhere. I obviously don't know the ins and outs of it like you do (although Liverpool gets a mostly unjustified bad rep for drink/drugs/poverty - the latest Junior Doctors prog was one of them though it was actually quite subtle in it's damning of the city!) but sadly people believe this sort of tripe :(
The info given about the original pool closing was tosh, it was scrapped because it would cost too much to maintain and the one within the indoor ski slope is sooooo filthy you wouldnt go near it, aswell as the changing rooms constantly being robbed oh and it wasnt built on the exsisting pool site but the opposite side of a dual carriageway on a flood plain so access is restricted most the time. The 'free' swimming is at one pool in the town 5 miles from the town centre within a school so the times for the free sessions are between 7-8pm or 8-9pm at night so not viable for most to get to.
As for the Maccies comment i can quite imagine my 17year old son saying something like maccies being healthy cos they sell a fruit bag but then he has learning difficulties without being a clown on top :rotfl:
But as i said previously it just goes to show that a simple article be it on tv or in the press is exaggerated beyond belief leaving those who have never been to the area afraid to come near because of the inaccuracies.

Anyway theres 2 less fatties now with youngest son and i being SW'ers bringing this back on topic ;)

From the sounds of it we ought to keep you away from the reem of paper too incase you slice a finger off :D
I wouldn't be surprised if the stress you are under and possibly the removal of your NDSAIDs are contributing factors to your concentration dips of late. Look after yourself please otherwise you will never get off the naughty step!

  • Not looking forward to WI tonight after eating a lot of chocolate, cake and crisps this week. I did lose 0.5 last week, and was hoping for 1 this week but I've earned a gain of some sort. Just can't get focussed or motivated again... really struggling with boredom snacking at the moment.

    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to let you know I lost 2lbs on my first week. Was a little disheartened at first as I've always lost quite a bit in my first week before, but then when I worked out all the rubbish I'd eaten at the weekend was quite impressed with the 2lb lol (Monday morning weigh in).

Back on track for this week although am away for the weekend at the races so will have to be careful what we eat and avoid the burger vans......

So yesterday was the workshop on sugars, today being a div have calculated the sugars in brekkie alone - Porridge, kiwi, melon and pineapple this totals 26.5g of sugar alone when daily intake is 90g
Looks like i will be analyzing eveything today to keep those numbers down :(

Haven't even thought about lunch yet but tea will be Beef kofta curry. Curry equates to jut 1.42g of sugar without any extra veggies added to it and using brown rice. Phew thats a little bit of leyway to play for lunch and snacks.
would you like some cardboard that contains no sugar ... lol i think your going to get awfully confused lol

Its not confussing at all. Like in SW we are taught to make wise swaps, this workshop is looking into those swaps in more depth. If/when you reach a plateau with weight not shifting you may understand more about looking at the foods you are consuming daily and where the odd mistake or mishap you are making is slowing down the weight loss.

I know someone came onto this thread early on saying how bad mullerlights were - when these are 18g of sugar for a small pot compared to just under half that for the same weight of plain fat free fromage frais it is a simple swap to make. If you were to comsume 5 of the muller yogs in a day you would be at your daily recommended amount of sugar and these sugars from carbs turn to fat. We need to be aware of what we are eating in order to control the input output ratio's.

With me struggling with a slow weight loss since november these workshops are running along side of the principles of SW just making you know more of the nutritional information that you wont learn in class.

How scary is it to know that while watching tv eating a punnet of grapes you realise that whilst you are engrossed in the programme you have polished of 63g of sugar from that one punnet - thats almost the same as a king size mars bar!

OK i get what your saying but if your limiting your sugar intake .. are you not then putting a limt on what fruit and vegetables that you can have meaning you will not be eating enough superfree foods

i love grapes and really enjoy them

No not at all, vegetables are almost negligible when it comes to natural sugars, fruits can be as high as chocolate bars. Why do you think in group you are asked to cut back on such items as bananas, apples and grapes and focus more on berries, citrus fruits and melons etc or better still to have your superfree as veg with meals and the occassional bits in between meals?
The workshops i am doing are with a weight loss group run by Staffordshire and Stoke NHS trust so this isnt anything faddy it is all from a nutritionist.
