Afternoon! Quick question.....I don't like milk and don't drink tea or coffee, so can I split my A to be half milk, half cheese? i.e. 125ml ss milk for porridge, and 20g reduced fat cheddar grated over SW spag bol?????
No reason why not, a few other people do this. Alternatively if you wanted the full amount of cheese you could syn the small amount of milk you have2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Stef I'm really glad your meeting went well...even if you have got reams of charts to fill in now!
I am having a pants day today.
Dads been taken into hospital, having a rubbish day at work, plus it's * week so all I really want is a box of cadbury's chocolate fingers...the whole box...and a bottle of wine!
Luckily (or not, depending on how you look at it) all I've got with me is a cherry muller light and sugarfree lemonade. Its WI tonight and I'm just not feeling very positive about it, I think if I've put on after trying so hard all week I may actually cry.
Sorry for the rant, just needed to get it off my chest!!
Hi Dizzy, No problem about the rant - we all have them from time-to-time.
Sorry to hear you are having such a bad day
Wishing you all the best - hope your Dad is OK and the WI goes in the right direction!0 -
Hi,
would you mind if I joined in?? I started my slimming world plan Monday.
I have followed slimming world in the past and had great results, but I think i need support and ideas as I don't really like the classes (can never be bothered to stay) so am doing it online this time round for information more than anything.
My aim is 2 stone this year, but 1 stone by June, which I really think I can achieve with lots of support......
Welcome wardy. If I'm honest, I'm not a great fan of the mindless clapping and the very formulaic nature of the group either. But I've made some good friends there and the plan certainly works so needs must. If you have all your books, you could go it alone, lots of people do.Dizzy_danie wrote: »Its WI tonight and I'm just not feeling very positive about it, I think if I've put on after trying so hard all week I may actually cry.

Fingers crossed! It sounds like everything that could go wrong already has!
stef, I'm interested to hear of changes the fat clinic suggested. Why basmati for instance? And do let us know when you've tried the seeded bread. I find wholemeal a bit bland (Burgen's my favourite) and would welcome a change.0 -

I'm interested too, but it sounds like they're advocating a Low GI diet as basmati is generally considered the lowest GI rice. I love brown basmati myself, expensive since only the posh brands seem to do it. But will always pick it up when it's on offer.Afternoon! I do this sometimes, but usually when I'm having cheese as part of a meal as the full allowance is too much once it's grated. As long as you get your calculations right, it's fine. But if you don't want to waste your HEA on any milk, I use water to make my porridge. Tastes fine, especially since I always add a load of fruit to it.
That brings me on to today's food...
Pre-run - Small glass Trop50 (2)
Breakfast - Porridge (HEB, water) with banana and berries
Lunch - Pret crayfish salad (normally 9, but I only had a tiny sliver of avocado and no dressing so will say 2)
Dinner - Not sure as DH is working late. Something free, probably tikka chicken and veg
Snacks - Fruit, Muller lemon greek yoghurt (0.5), lactofree cheese (HEA)
Treat - French fancy (5.5 - need today!)0 -
Maman im not quite sure which 'diet' she was trying to push but looking things over and over again it seems like it is a mix and match one. Like Londondreamer said, a few times through out my hour and 15 mins the GI plan was mentioned, yet she didn't know the fundamentals of SW. Tried over and over to explain it in the simplest of terms but when looking over my food diaries they are lacking in some of the areas they would look for.
Like i mentioned yesterday the fruit/veg intake isnt a problem. I think my issues will come from the other sectors.
For instance the plate/pie chart shows these segments and amounts
1)fruit and veg - 5-7 portions a day.
2) bread, cereals and potatoes - 5-7 portions a day.
3) meat, fish and alternatives - 2-3 portions a day.
4) milk and dairy foods all low fat - 2-3 portions a day.
5) fatty and sugary foods limited to 100cals per day.
So my struggle will be no.2. Theres no way i can eat that amount per day. 1 x 800g slice from a med loaf is 1 portion or 3-4tbsps of porridge - thats my HEB. Potatoes ideally should be sweet pots where possible as higher fibre content and lower GI as told yesterday and potatoes quantity for a portion is 2 pots the size of eggs, so i would gestimate that the 'average' size sweet potato i had baked for lunch would be 2 servings.
Dairy/milk shouldnt be an issue, their portion for milk is 200ml, pot of yog around 125ml so thats a breeze to get 3 portions a day.
Meat/fish/alternatives will need a little weighing to see if i am getting near the amount they want - 60-90g is one portion. 2eggs, 5tbsps baked beans or 4oz soya or tofu. Im sure 1full can of tuna would be near enough the quota for the day.
So as you can see it is pretty much SW adaptable it is just getting round to weighing and measuring before consuming instead of thinking its all free eat it up.
I did pick up boil in the bag brown rice today instead of the other types just so i have everything whole meal and after guessing which bread is now a HEB managed to pick up the right one in Sainsburys and enjoyed a piece when i got home. Just a wounder that my lovely syns wont be going near a choccie bar just yet:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Oh, and I've just the post about the seeded bread......the normal version is lovely, and so is the wholemeal version! I got two 800g WM seeded loaves today in Mr T's on offer, 2 for something, possibly £2.50?? Sorry, I'll have to find my receipt to double check, but that might depress me as I only went in to buy some chicken breasts and came out £26 poorer!!!0

Evening campers, hope all is well. I've come in from work and am ravenous, hubby has cooked the kids faggots and chips (ask me why I'm on a diet in the first place; faggots one of my all time favourites!). Managed to serve their dinner and only licked the spoon clean from the faggot gravy, pretty restrained of me I think! We have WW sausages with mustard mash and vegetables for us, just about to start cooking it now0
