    Hello all.

Nightowl - what facilities do you have in order to have food at work? Are you restricted by cold meals only such as the usual salads and sandwiches or do you have access to a microwave etc? Replies to this will vary the answers to your question.

Yes I have got access to a microwave. mama - yes you can laugh but it's not far from true! I'm better if I have a busy shift but it's quite quiet at the moment.

Well, I've been busy in the kitchen this morning, made SW egg and ham muffins; SW Spicey parsnip soup, have a SW vegetable quiche in the oven and have made the onion salad that I mix in with couscous. Just need to mix up the Tzasiki and add water to the cous cous!

That should see me through (maybe even two nights, lol)

    Thanks for all you help,

Nightowl (ps despite my user name I don't always work nights, just one week in 4!)

Can anyone give me any tips on skinning chicken, especially drumsticks? I got into a huge mess earlier!!

    It's a real pain isn't it.

I've only done it the once (I normally eat the skin too - oops) but I just got my nails under the skin and pulled. The last bit was tricky so I then had to cut skin off.

Thanks yes thats how I did it, it was horrible! I hate messing with raw meat and am a bit OCD when cleaning up after, anti bac everywhere. I even wash my hands inbetween, for instance to go to the bin incase I have any bacteria on them that I might transfer to other surfaces such as the door, which could later be picked up by someone else without knowing.

Theres a speedy pea soup recipe on the SW website, or the quick tomato soup if you are really pushed for time. Unless you are looking for something more substantial then my brain is dead at the minute

Just had a mushroom omelette for lunch and a muller yog.
Am now going to make some pork and herb meatballs for taster evening (tonight).
    Fingers crossed I lose something!

Nightowl, I tend to make extra of SW dinners when I'm cooking and freeze it in individual containers to be nuked in the microwave when I'm at work
  • Hi all really enjoy reading all your posts. Thank you for the advice a few weeks back on possible IBS have made doctor's appointment but have to wait two weeks! I am trying to shift the weight whilst not using 'no fat' 'low fat' products as they don't seem to agree with me. Lost 3st last year and called target about a stone heavier than I would want to be, then went AWOL for 9 months and managed to put on 18lbs (easily done 2lb per month); now hovering within 2 lb of previous target weight since rejoining in January. I find bread really piles on the pounds for me and who can resist butter on hot toast?? Have taken on board advice regarding 'not on a diet this is a way of life' lifestyle and this seems to be working for me. Good luck to everyone on this 'journey' we'll all look fab in the sunshine (when it arrives)
