    Hi Stef,
I'm afraid when it comes to her handful of recipes she uses, there is no compromise. They have to be authentic. As in the avocado war :(
I feel so down, I'm thinking of making myself sick afterwards.

    Sorry for the moan.

Banjo -please do NOT make yourself sick. You are doing so brilliantly.

    Oh dear, moan alert.

I am in DREAD mode. My wife very rarely cooks - about 4 or 5 times per year.

I'm trapped, I'll just have to have a tiny portion. And that is going to get me the mega sulk anyway in a mega way :(

    Hope you're OK banjo.

4/5 tmes a year is hardly going to affect you in the grand plan.

    Onwards and upwards!:)
  • Well I had my first weigh in today...3lb loss :) I am so pleased with that! My sister lost 4 and still waiting to hear from my mum. Just can't believe I can eat this much and lose weight!

Hello everyone...have weighed this morning and I think I will have to change my user name to Flash the Tortoise (as in Corrie)

2.5 pounds off in 5 weeks. Not great but at least in the right direction. And they are in the last 2 weeks after loosing and putting on at first.

I think after years of trying all different diets that its taking a bit of getting used to. I am just telling myself that this is how I now eat for ever, it is doable and if I loose weight too then all is good.

The one thing that is sticking in my mind is one of the welcome e-mails from the online site which said that you should aim to follow it for 95% of the time. I have noticed that if I go on a bit of a binge that it is easier to take stock and make a fresh start the next day. I no longer give up for the whole week until my next weigh day.

I've decided to put it in my signature and hopefully it will improve.

    Good Luck everyone

I am in DREAD mode. My wife very rarely cooks - about 4 or 5 times per year. But she has taken it upon herself to cook her speciality tonight for dinner. This is the first time she has cooked this year, so I suppose it was due.

The problem is the amount of olive oil she uses. I said to her in a subtle way, that there was a SW recipe which uses frylight instead of olive oil. But she is frying potatoes and onions in the usual half bottle of oil :(

Not that I believed last weeks massive 4.5lb gain was for real, I'm pleased to say it has disappeared and I have now returned back to 'normal' where I was two weeks ago. So hopefully that's the end of that and I can get back on track this week.

    Morning all,

We seem to have multiplied over the weekend! Welcome to all the newbies  Well done to the losers and hugs to TIE, Banjo and anyone else who needs them.

Mixed week for me foodwise. Not terrible but not great either - meals all SW but probably over syns with sweet stuff and didn't save any for the wine tasting, although I only had the wine, 2 vodka & diet cokes then stayed on water. Did have a slice of OH's pizza at 2am though :o We'll see how WI goes tonight - am feeling bloated but really can't predict how it's going to go, seeing as last week I was as good as good can be and only lost 0.5 due to * week, so you never know, it might balance itself out *crosses fingers*

Made the Hairy Dieters lamb, potato and spinach curry on Sat and had it for tea last night, it was delicious (OH agreed) and got half left for tea tomorrow :)

    EE today:
    B: Bran flakes (B), milk (A), banana
    L: Mugshot, satsuma
T: Pasta of some sort, bread & chocolate for syns

Have a good week folks :)

BB - One thing I have noticed on SW is how you start to obsess about food, about losing that next lb.
Take a deep breath and calm down.

Have to say this is one thing I have massively struggled with and have briefly touched on in my posts here before - it was getting to the point that those close to me were beginning to worry about me! Difficult for me to admit as I have previously worked in a recovery project helping those who have suffered eating disorders but it is easy to see where the behaviours creep in.
I am now taking steps to positively change my mindset towards foods - nothing is 'banned' it's all about enjoying a balance/healthy moderation. It has been difficult these past few weeks but I believe I am now there.

I have taken the SW principles and applied them to my life in a way that works for me and my life - so I still have a minimum of 1/3rd superfree and at least 1 HeA and HeB a day but I also tell myself it's ok not to follow the SW books as if they are law and I know I can't afford to lose any more weight due to my build/body structure so when I catch myself saying I need to I take a reality check :)

I still stick around here for support and some days do follow the plan (EE) to the letter but also know it's ok to relax a little and let myself breathe!

  • Morning everyone!!
Hope you all had a good weekend?
I'm finding that the weekends are where I'm tending to struggle, mainly because our weekends tend to be very spontaneous so I find it difficult to plan meals around that! Friday was fine, was good all day, went to the pub after work and had two single malibu and diet cokes (5) then went home and cooked SW sweet and sour with loads of superfree. Was quite pleased with myself....but then saturday it all went wrong. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast (milk..hea) then met some friends at the pub at lunchtime. I stuck to diet coke all day except for three single malibus...which over the space of ten hours when everyone else was drinking I think is practically saint like!!:A but I didnt get home till 11 so I had nothing else to eat all day. I'm hoping this is better that getting a takeaway on the way home like we usually would, but I'm not sure really?!
