    Stef, Maman, Blodwen & Rob,

Thanks so much for your friendly, kind words and advice :)

Stef, you are right about it affecting my mental health – it is really starting to get me down and I do feel that I am in a vicious circle – the weird thing is he was fine when I was losing the original weight – quite supportive in actual fact.

Maman, I will try and follow your advice and be virtually ‘syn-free’ during the week which will allow me a bit of lee-way for the weekends – but you are right that the best way is to try and have a talk with him about how his reaction to what I eat/drink is affecting me – it is just that sometimes it is easier to avoid the confrontation. I must give myself a kick up the bum and get on with it :D

Rob, yes, I know you are right - I need to regain control - I just find it hard that he has gone from being quite supportive to trying to scupper my efforts!

Stef, give me a few ss foods please. I thought tomatoes lettuce carrots cauli bluberries melon are s s ? there are some veggies I don't like I am a bit faddy. I struggle a bit with vegicon13.gif.
None of the veggies have the SS symbol but are S foods.
Fruit wise, blueberries are not SS. The following fruits are:-
bilberries, blackberries, blackcurrants, boysenberries, cranberries, gooseberries, grapefruit, guava, kiwano, lemons, limes, loganberries, loquats, melon - all varieties, pomelo, raspberries, redcurrants, rhubarb, strawberries, tamarillos, tayberries and whitecurrants.

But SS foods arent restricted to fruit and veg.
    Most shelfish and whitefish.
Pulses - baked beans, black gram beans, broad beans, butter beans, flageolet beans, garden/fresh peas, haricot beans, marrowfat peas, mushy peas, petit pois, processed peas.

The more foods you can eat that have lots of symbols next to them in the book the better your losses will be - atleast this is what we have been told in group.

Is he quite a jealous person about other things? Just thinking if he maybe feels insecure about you looking and feeling your best and worrying that you could go off with someone else, however irrational that may be? Read things about that happening before so don't think it's actually that uncommon. Anyway just a thought. Either way a chat is definitely on the cards...

It seems sukey as if your OH hasn't understood that SW is a lifestyle change not just a temporary diet.

Happened to one of the stand in consultants we had. She was just over 24stone when she stepped on scales for the first time with SW. Her bloke left her as the weight was decreasing because he couldn't handle the new confident her. They had a baby together and it made no odds they still split. Now she is 12.5stone lighter and has a new man in tow.

I've been completely off track for a few days (I say a few but it's actually just over half the week). The amount of food I've eaten is shocking. I was going to weigh myself this morning but I decided not to as I'm likely to get stroppy about how much I've gained and eat even more junk.

I think I'm back to being good now. I have a few more days until weigh in so I know I'll still have a gain but maybe I can slightly reduce that gain over the next few days.

Go down the success express route and you should see a loss or a sts.

BCS I have been like that since last November I keep trying.. with the encouragement of these super kind folk on this site. It is very disheartening when you keep trying and nothing happens. I feel like I'm stuck in quicksand and the more I struggle to get out, The more I slip back further down. I wouldn't care if I was eating sweets chocs and cakes and all the things I shouldn't. Anyway, I'm not giving up without a fight and you shouldn't either. Good Luck

MSG is salt so from sounds of it your spices will be free.

BCS Do you follow any of the slimming world meal plans or do you plan your own meals? The next four days are back to basics for me following the SE meal plan on the website so there will be tantrums on thursday night if i dont see a loss.

WIZKID when planning your meals try looking at the SS symbols at the side of foods to speed up losses as a lot of the things you have dont have a speed symbol on them.

For everyone else that has stuggles this weekend grab hold of those horses and reign them in so you can jump back on that wagon. Today is the start of a new day in a new week, we all know we can do this [virtual kicks to backsides to all in need].

Thanks everyone, I just get so frustrated when i'm trying so hard & don't see any results. Thin people say "if you eat less then you will lose weight!" but obviously it isn't as easy as that. I know that if I started eating more i'd put weight on alot quicker than 1 lb a week yet that's all i'm losing. Rant over. :o :rotfl:

Well I did lose 1 lb today so I guess it's going to be slow & steady to the finish line. I was 16 st 4 lb 6 oz's when I started & now i'm 15 st 10 lb 2 oz's so that's 8 lb 4 oz's lost over the 5 weeks. I do look & feel slimmer so it is obviously making a difference. :A

Steph, i've just been making up my own meals but have ordered a couple of recipe books which I think will help as I am getting bored eating the same stuff all the time.

I think I need to start doing some exercise which I detest but if I want to lose weight I know I have to make an effort. :o

Hope everyone else is well. :A
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

  • Really struggling today. A good friend's husband passed away over the weekend, she's only a year older than me (early thirties) and they have a young son. :(

Trying to stick to plan... not very hungry so meals are fairly small, but wanting to comfort eat.

Breakfast: Porridge (HEB) with a banana and blueberries
Lunch: Chicken and spinach salad (2 for dressing)
    Dinner: Soup
Snacks: Fruit, FF yoghurt, kit kat (12.5, ouch) and something for HEA later

I've also found that Tesco sell a <5% fat version of pork mince, any ideas if this can this be used freely like other lean meats or do you think it would have a syn value (again, the book only mentions 8% fat which is syned).
If no-one can help, then I'll ask at group on Wed and post a reply, incase anyone else would be interested.

They use that mince in the meatballs recipe on the calendar this month, can confirm it's free.

Really struggling with SW at the moment with morning sickness - not actually been sick, but just continuously nauseaous. Snacking throughout the day makes me feel better - but i'm running out of ideas

I'm currently snacking on dry bran flakes (heb) - fruit doesn't appeal at all (someone in the office had a banana last week & i wanted to barf:eek:) I have to force yogurts down

Pasta i make for lunches usually doesn't get eaten (it looks & smells revolting after a couple of days!) i am sad to say that i have wasted food recently  - really kicking myself for that as i NEVER waste food - always manage to find a use for it

So any ideas of 'dry/bland' stuff i can snack on during the day to keep to SW as much as possible would be fab

I feel for you! I had the same sort of morning sickness when I was pregnant (ectopic, unfortunately - long time ago now though) especially the bananas thing.

The problem with dry/bland is that they're mostly grain based on synned once you're over HEB allowance. But the only food I could face during the day was rich tea biscuits. They're 2 syns each, so not too bad all things considered.

Maybe popcorn if you can handle the salt? Synned again obviously, but without fat you can get a pretty big bag for about 5 syns which could last for ages if you're just nibbling through the day like I was.
