It would have to be non-perishable and kept in the car for emergencies. What about a small can of pineapple chunks - would have to have ring pull top, unless you keep a can opener in there!
One of those foil bags of ready to eat tuna fish?0 -
Does anybody mind me joining in....
I have about 4.5 stone to lose, I was always a stone or so too heavy but after quitting smoking (in may 2010) I piled some more on and it wont move! Joined the gym last January but any weight I do lose (which is never much) finds me again. The group I can attend is on a Tuesday morning but I have a 4 year old that doesnt start back to nursery until weds next week! so cant join until the 15th, Ive got 'my fitness pal' on my iphone so im managing to keep the calories down so far until then.
Its lovely to read how this is all working for you because I think this might be the only diet I havent tried...Ive learnt there is no such thing as a quick fix...well not a permanent one anyway, and it has to be a life style change.
I havent got a clue how SW works and it sounds like I have alot to get my head round but Im ready for it....I have Octobers SW magazine, so gonna have a read of that in bed tonight.
Jen - packing up smoking is the best thing you can do but it can take ages for your metabolism to get back to normal. That's what my GP told me anyway. In my case it took a couple of years, honestly.
Just trust in Extra Easy and you'll be fine. Some people find it odd that you can eat so much and still lose weight but it really does work.
Have a look at some of the recipes in your mag and you'll see what I mean. They are delicious and either syn free or very low in syns. You just have to be prepared to change the way you cook because as you say, there is no quick fix.0 -

Ahhh that would explain why my weight gain stopped after around the 2 year mark, I spent the following 8 months trying to shift it with silly diets that I cant stick to for very long (ie atkins) and the gym slipped to a couple of times per month instead of per week!
I have 98% faith in SW, the last 2% like you mentioned is how you can eat so much but Ive heard of more people succeeding than not so here goes.... 2013 is my year! :TGood enough club member number 140 -

Morning all,
At home again today - not sure if the drain people are coming back today as I rung the head office after they'd gone yesterday to say I HAVE to go back to work on Mon and they were meant to ring me back but didn't  Am quite pleased that I haven't struggled with food like I often do when don't have the routine of work, but it could be because I've been busy and also had meals planned and made as didn't know I'd be off.claire_lou wrote: »Hi
I'm back at work on Monday .... have a few things in mind for lunches but may get board of the same things......can anyone recommend their favourite work lunches and snacks please?
Do you have a microwave in work? I try to make extra portions of tea and take that in as I like a hot meal at lunch. Every now and then I make a big pan of something like paella and freeze portions, or make soup or SW quiche, or take a spud and some beans to microwave. I also have low fat super noodles and mugshots in - only have one every few weeks or so but I find the key is always to have something I can grab on the way out if I haven't organised anything. Used to take a cereal bar and yogurt every day for snacks but tend not to bother much now, maybe just a piece of fruit unless I'm on a green day and can have a bar or 2 as HEB.stef240377 wrote: »I know the hairy dieters book had been raved about before xmas and with the re-runs on bbc2 this week looked in the cook book for the lasagne recipe, now converting this to SW would mean 6 syns per serving, possibly 4 if you omit the wine and switch the milk but starting to wonder whether its worth it when you could follow a SW for 1 syn. If anyone has made both and can shed any light on which is better before i go out to make this next week i would be greatful.
Well done on your loss!I got OH the book for xmas and had a look last night. It's quite difficult to marry the two up at times as they base it on calories, hence replacing the pasta with leeks, ugh! Haven't made the lasagne but since we saw the series the first time round I have incorporated a few of the parts, like adding a beef stock cube and putting sliced tomato on the top. I wouldn't swap the pasta and quark/egg/nutmeg/HE cheese topping for anything, mmm! Saying that, I am making the Spanish chicken bake tonight so will see how that goes- trying to encourage OH to cook healthy food, well to start with just cook!
EE today:
B: Porridge (B), milk (A), banana
L: Lentil and bacon soup, satsuma
T: Spanish chicken bake (3 for chorizo) with potatoes and salad
S: Freddo (5), Hifi light (3)2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]
2012: [STRIKE]Start renovating new house (aka open enormous can of worms)[/STRIKE] _pale_

Hi :hello: (again)
I haven't posted here since October last year - but i am still a SW member!!! When i last posted my total loss was 1st 4lbs and my current loss is 1st 3lbs! (I actually lost 0.5lbs over the 2 weeks at xmas - mainly due to time changes (night time to morning WI's!))
WI's are Monday so this coming Monday will be interesting - going from a Sunday midday WI to a 7pm Monday WI!
I am part of the social team in my group - got a badge & everything! And i do the raffle every week as our consultant is . . . how to put this nicely . . . i don't think i can . . . she is useless with money!!! She was spending £20 on the raffles every week but only bringing in £7! So i have a challenge everyweek to get a decent raffle selection for £5! Any ideas for this week???
I am struggling to get back in the swing of things and have been for the last year! I actually weigh 12lbs heavier than this time last year!
My Dad and Grandad have given me and my brother a great incentive for weight loss - to loose 4st by our birthdays (brothers bday day before mine!) in June for £800
I'm sure i can do this if my mind is set on it - especially as me and dh are trying for a baby - healthier all round! My appetite has actually decreased over the last couple of months after coming off the contraceptive injection - it's amazing to let my body go back to 'normal' after 8 years!
It's great to see that most of the 'old faces' are still here! Anyone know how Dizzy & MrsM & confused are getting on?
Apart from the aim of loosing 4st in 6months - another aim is to post here more regularly - i miss you guys

I know one of our stand in consultants has a large group and says she buys things like the hand held blender wands as prizes to encourage making soups as people dont want to pay out to buy kitchen items if they can avoid it so winning it is more of an incentive.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

stef240377 wrote: »For your raffle prize throwing this one in = do you have a morrisons locally? They are selling systema microwave soup mugs for £2.62 each, then the remaining spend you can buy the tinned veggies for the tomato soup, so 2 tins of toms, 2 tins of beans, 2 tins of carrots possible a jar of pickled onions and some 10p stock cubes so people have the means to take soup to work if they can micro it.

That is a fantastic idea, thank you - i do have a local Morrisons - i will have a wonder tomorrow
I usually try to do 2 recipes from the recent books/mags - but trying to do 2 for under £5 is near on impossible!
It is amazing how expensive SW recipes are - especially the meat or fish ones!0
