Feeling a bit worried.:( Last couple of weeks I have gained half a pound each week. Prior to that I'd lost 1st 10 lbs by following the plan, not eating between meals and using syns on things like meringue nest, gravy granules, half fat creme fraiche etc. Not crisps, sweets, cakes etc.

Consultant is no use at all and I come home feeling very unsupported and puzzled as to why this is happening. I haven't had a decent weight loss for weeks and weeks.

Today I had to have lunch out and decided in advance to choose soup. Most places were busy and I finally got in somewhere and the only soup available was cauliflower and cheddar. It came with a very small roll but the soup was so thick I'm sure it had loads of cheddar! Then I had to call at a charity do and they were giving out free cake/scones. I had a scone with cream and jam and a cupcake. This is SO not me but I have felt miserable since SW night and wondering if this is as far as my slimming journey goes. Then I came in and had a banana and a chunk of cheese! I just cannot believe what I just did!

I have never turned to food as a comfort so I am finding this worrying.

Penny it sounds like you have had a right old side swipe from this weeks events. Prior to the last 3 weeks have you had consecutive losses or have they too been up and down?
You have been doing SW for a little longer than i have now so are equipped with all you need to jump straight back on the wagon and who knows this blow out may be the shock your body needs in order to slip back into the loss gear. Fingers crossed for you :)

  • Jezebel1 One of favourite red day / EE meals for ease and quickness has to be jacket potato (cooked in micro and then finished in oven for 15 mins) served with plenty of vegetables (I normally go carrots, cauliflower and broccoli) then finshed with a tin of stewing steak, the sainsburys extra lean one is free (as is a tesco's one I think) :)
  • Hi all,

Looks like I will be joining you. Last year I was very ill and gained about a stone due to medication (which I'm no longer on). I'm feeling a lot better now but I am desperate to shift the weight as its depressing me (my nice clothes are too tight on me and I look very curvy). I have tried dieting myself and seem to lose 4lbs then put it on, I've tried WW's and lose very little if at all (can't get under 10 stone on it) whilst following the plan and it puts me in a foul mood as I feel I don't get to eat enough healthy food. I hate that things like a jacket potato or mackerel are higher in propoints than a chocolate bar on WW.

I'm a recently diagnosed Coeliac, and often it feels like there is hardly anything nice I can eat snack wise so I can't say I eat unhealthily. I don't drink alcohol, have one chocolate bar a week, eat crisps only around twice a week, don't each much fat etc. People that watch me eat say they can't see how I'm a bit chubby as I hardly eat anything. However, I do like 3 square meals a day and I LOVE my carbs! I love to cook and don't like processed foods. I also don't like being hungry lol.

I've decided that SW seems best for me as I am looking for a healthy plan for life without being constantly hungry like I am on WW. My first meeting is on Tuesday. I'm 10stone4 at the moment and am desperate to weigh 9stone7 within the next 8 weeks for a special occasion. I will exercise too as although I'm an ok dress size, I am not toned at all (flabby yuck!) and I need to shape up.

I need to do a shopping on Monday, before my first meeting - does anyone have advice as to things that might be a good idea to buy? The only obvious one I can think of is Fry Light which I don't currently use. I will obviously buy lots of fruit, veg and lean meats/chicken/fish. I'm going to menu plan in advance (I found the slim eats website). Do things like knorr stock cubes have syns? Also can you "save" your syns and use them for a meal out rather than for each day? I have ordered a SW starter pack off eBay to help.

Sorry for all the questions - I am so desperate to lose this weight!

.......can someone post the Coleslaw recipe? I tried the one on SW website and it was rank! TIA X

Was that the Hot 'n Spicy Coleslaw that uses natural yogurt? I wasn't keen on that either.

I find coleslaw is very much a personal taste. Some don't like too much cabbage, or onion, or prefer chunky cut to shredded etc.

How I made mine today, using white cabbage, carrots and onion in whatever ratio you like best. I used red onion instead of spring onion:

Blanche the chopped white cabbage with boiling water, so it hasn't got the raw taste and to soften it a bit. Cool quickly with cold water in colander. Add grated carrot. mix a bit of salt in and mix all together. Leave for 15 mins to dry. Add chopped onion.

Then I mixed all together with Hellmann's Lighter Than Light Mayonnaise which is 0.5 syn per level tablespoon.

As I'm having this tonight with chicken tikka, I put a little bit of cajun seasoning in to give it a little kick. I think some people put mustard powder in.

I've tasted it and like it, but others may not agree :)

    Hi miss_independent,

good luck, sounds like its a good diet plan for you to follow!

my essentials when shopping: (other than the veg / fruit and not sure how it fits in with what you can eat)
extra lean mince / beef stir fry (sainsburys seem best value)
    passata
veg / beef / chicken stock cubes and stock pots (free)
herbs + spices (paprika + garlic salt lovely on SW chips)
    curry paste (1/2 syns)
    pasta / rice
french / italian fat free salad dressing
    options hot choc
tesco light choices cumberland sausages (1 syn)
mug shots (tomato + herb.. some other flavours have syns)
    ff natural yoghurt
    quark
muller lights or other free yogs

sure there's lots more but mind has gone blank :rotfl:

Take a look at this link to see the sort of things you would be eating and the volume of food a day. There is the option to swap wholemeal bread for glutafin i think it is for dietry needs but this needs to be discussed with a consultant if you are going to join a group.

Thanks, ugh I hate glutafin bread - its stodgy with loads of preservatives! I will definitely have to speak to a consultant especially regards pasta substitute. I had a look at the 7 day menu before and obviously I'd have to tailor it to my diet because the sausages, couscous etc contain gluten and I try not to eat processed meats like ham and bacon. However, that being said - I still feel SW will be better than WW for me, it just seems more sensible and based around healthy eating which, for me, on propoints I found I ate less healthily.

Tomorrow is my last non dieting day! I just hope I do actually lose weight on SW. It's seems too good to be true!
