Glad you decided to call in jezebel, welcome.

DH raved about the chicken & leek pie. I thought it was a tasty alternative to cottage/shepherds pie and great for using up LO chicken from Sunday roast. Very filling comfort food for a cold night. I used a HEA for crunchy cheese on top instead of an egg glaze but without that it would have been completely syn free. (trouble was my head kept comparing with M&S chicken and leek shortcrust pie).

    hi lucky-legs and jezebel :)

the pie is postponed to after weigh in thurs.. went to get chicken out of the freezer and didn't have any! :o mmm.... M+S pie... :rotfl:

like the idea of cheese on top, will try that!

am living on speed soup for the next few days.. went a bit mad and did a huge pan full..

    HE B Ryvita.

Thanks for the info on the mugshots everyone. much appreciated. when i get into it and learn a bit more hopefully i can help you all. :D

I have the hairy bikers cookbooks, latest the dieters one, hubby is a chef so loves recipe books. They use pizza dough mix instead of pastry for pies. we tried it before i started this and it really is lovely. anyone any idea of the syn value?
Am going to be making some soup concoctions aswell. I have a soup maker.....I know, lazy way. was a gift for hubby from his mum so it will be so easy to make. I need to sit down with all my books and work out properly what I can have. Bit slapdash this week, been on steroids so perma hungry.
Finding most of the dessert recipes have fromage frais or yoghurt in,both of which I dont like.Looks like fruit salads for me.
Got the 100 days with EE book aswell. have done red and green days so often I find it hard remembering EE so constantly checking what to have.
    Shine on you crazy diamond..............
  • Good morning all,

Just thought I would pop on whilst eating my porridge this morning :)

    As I noted yesterday today:
B: porridge (HeB) made with 1/2water+1/2SS milk (1/2HeA), banana and a tsp of golden syrup (well it was less than usual but will still go with 2.5syn)
    S: 2 satsumas
L: leftover chicken and rice, jelly (0.5syn), satsuma
S: either pink and white (2.5syn) or 1/2 portion Special K cracker crisps (2.5syn)
T: 2 skinny lizzys (2syn), smash, veggies and maybe baked beans I think (chippie for bf so can eat whatever I fancy :P)

Total syns: 7.5 - enough leeway to have both afternoon snacks whilst at work (taking it to 10) in case I am really peckish.

Plenty to do at work today, need to finish something I started a bit last minute yesterday and do all of todays tasks plus prep stuff to do tomorrow as I'm alone in the office tomorrow!

May try and pop back on my break

A site that I love & am sure a lot of ladies (and gents) use is this one, I have not had a bad tasting thing from it yet, my fave for lunches is the bacon leek & sweet potato quiche, easy to make & freezes like a dream.

I don't have any books, only the 100 extra easy days which is not technically a recipe book.

Hey macpep thats brilliant, i showed it to my GF and she loved it, def will help us plan meals better than looking through the cookbooks.

We have managed to get out budget down to £120 for the month so far on shopping so that might help further.

Hi Gaz you might like to try this for a starter...it's something I made up myself but it really is very nice and only has 3 1/2 syns per portion :)

    Cheese and chilli stuffed mushrooms

    for two people

Take some quark and mix in a bowl with 5 laughing cow triangles. Add in some very finely chopped chiilies (don't forget to take out all the seeds  ) Add this mixture on top of 4 up turned large flat mushrooms then cook in the oven till slightly browned - enjoy!

(syn values based on not using cheese triangles as an a choice and also having two large mushrooms each, however if you wanted to make this for four people and just have one mushroom each then the syns would only be 1 1/2 each)

Hey lucky-legs that's great, i like stuffed peppers and mushrooms so any new filling to go in them is welcome.

Tried the syn free pancakes last night.............they cleared me out of sweetener!!

Whilst they tasted lovely just on their own, my attempt at cooking them looked a mess as they were quite thick!

Good morning all, not long back from the drs and asked the vital question - Does inflammation reduce weight loss? Gp point blank said no, despite me reading up online that it does so really fed up over this. Had blood tests before xmas and looking at the results from those and the ones prior to that i have no issues with thyroid. Said i am peeved at realistically losing just 1lb since going back in new year and just got a blanket eat less calories. In my defence said i am following SW, show my food diaries to consultant and all is above board there. I do between 30-60 mins a day on the wii fit - totalled 10 hours and 5 mins over 18 days when looking at stats yesterday so im not being lazy and said i have now purchased the wrist weights doing 1000 reps in 10 mins while on the wii. So he just said i need to look at the calories going in v the ones being burnt off and a referral to the weight loss clinic to have counselling because perhaps i am obsessing too much over it but it will also open up the avenue to other weight loss options and access to the gym :(
Trying now to be upbeat today and crack on
    Soooooo ee day today.
B, f/f nat yog with stawberries and banana
L, hm soup = yes its still going, soup mix, toms, celery, leek, onion, carrots.
T, Sausages, mash and veg. 1 syn for sausages, a few syns for butter, milk from allowance.

On another plus side, reading the info about inflammation and weight loss it also confirms something that has been said in group to eat more fish in the diet as we need the omega 3. In the article it said -

One of the primary causes of long-term weight gain is inflammation.
Inflammation is the tinder that creates a firestorm of metabolic and circulatory problems that ultimately mitigate your weight loss attempts. If you want weight loss to be PERMANENT, you have to deal with the underlying problems. Controlling inflammation is VITAL for weight loss and long term weight management.Take an Omega 3 supplement.
Eicosanoids from Omega 3 fats are anti-inflammatory. Eicosanoids from Omega 6 fats are pro-inflammatory. It’s common to have too much omega 6 in the diet and not enough omega 3.

So i have just popped a fish oil capsule and will do for the next month now to see if this helps. God this is certainly a game of swings and roundabouts!

  • Well after a week of Success Express, I managed to gain 1lb :(
Probably the 1st person in the history of SW to do that!
Never mind, I will keep to plan this week, need to focus on drinking more and reducing my portion sizes.
Bought a 6 week countdown, determined to see good results!
People recently have noticed I've lost weight, and tell me I shouldn't lose more. At which I smile sweetly and tell them that officially I am still obese!
    Today's menu:
B yog banana, blackberries and cereal heb
    L mugshot satsuma
D HM pasta in tomato sauce, cheeses 1/2 hea, ham, salad
Syns not sure, maybe velvet crunch 4 and mini cookies 5
    1/2 hea milk for drinks
    6x water
Lost 38.5 lb with SW so far, 56LB to go!:A

Yes I love that site, I also have a meal planner, I used to batch cook on a 4-weekly basis but do it on a weekly basis now, that way its not as much! I got a meal planner spreadsheet from this site & I love it, it also calculates my shopping list, which I take with me & saves me a fortune, I am in the process of slowly adding SW meals as well, PM me if you want a copy.

As I thought a gain this week of 0.5

    So todays EE Plan

B - Berries, melon, pineapple, FF yoghurt
L - HM Bacon & lentil soup, melon, pineapple
    D - Mexican Bake (a) broccoli, cauliflower
    S - Toffee muller, banana

3 syns for 150ml skimmed milk for coffee
    B - 2 alpen lights

Hubby is taking me out Saturday night for Valentines - Indian Buffet :eek:so need to be really good as I have no idea what syns I will need, I will prob have mixed pakora with salad to start then a little of each curry, with boiled rice not creamy ones as I don't like them and a little naan bread. I won't have any dessert unless their is fruit salad, I can take it or leave it.
