Hello everyone - please can I join? I returned to group after missing most of Dec and have put on all that I had lost. I am determined though that this is the year I am going to rid this weight for good - I am fed up of holidays where I wear a tshirt over my costume, dodge the camera etc. My DD is going to secondary school in Sept and I first started trying to shift the weight before she started primary school as I didn't want to be the fat Mum at the school gates - I am still the fat Mum "and some" so have to be serious about it now.
I have a lot to lose - about 5.5 stone but am going to tackle my 10% first and include that goal in my signature so that every week I amend when I have been weighed as a motivation.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.0 -
Went to group yesterday :j
Weight nearly back to where I started, but at least it's not more. :j
What's the 7 days, 7 ways - is that in the booklet?
Need to plan some meals now. Think I may get some ingredients for soup.
Will add an interim target to my sig to break this into baby stepsDeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

mineallmine. 7 days was a seperate book and can still be found online. https://www.slimmingworld.com/healthy-eating/non-vegetarian-menu.aspx (free content for all you don't have to be a paying member of group)
No cheating though... pick from the menu offered.
kiplingmonkey - for the record I still feel like the "fat mum" at schooleven more so right now!
Don't focus on club 10 (10%) as that can be daunting to look at the numbers. Aim 1lb at a time, one day, one week at a go. For me once I lost 3lb... I wanted to lose another 3lb. I saw it working.
The important thing is NOT LYING TO YOURSELF. Food diary... helps you see the lies, the forgotten nibbles. Gives you the will to plan meals out, cook in batches with the kids... etc.
Good Luck. :T
We all need to remember not to beat ourselves up. 1 bad meal doesn't ruin a day, one bad day doesn't spoil the week.0 -
Hoping i dont sound rude here, but can i ask why so many of you are feeling obliged to eat what ever is left in the house which is remaining from xmas?
I stipulated to all family and friends that both my son and i were following SW and that food gifts would not be welcomed, may have come across as ungrateful but i would have rather not had a gift than be laden down with choc and biccies. Those who ignored and still sent food items will duely be told that those gifts have been donated to my husbands mate who has kids all untouched by us. Even my hubby who's nan every year since he was a kid has filled him a large gift bag of various biscuits, choc oranges etc will also be taken to the same house. Had we received the amount of stuff we did last year then it would have been taken to the local foodbank to go to people who are genuinely struggling.
I have seen on HUKD all the local supermarket bargains of post xmas goodies at 75% off and can proudly say this is the first year i havent grabbed my bag and dashed out ready to stock up on what evers available and i feel better for it. Think this is all spurred on after a chat with my gp about my son contuning to binge if there are goodies in the house. Was told that theres no need for him to have it despite the 'syns' business with SW so will now be focussing on getting him the syns in a different way be it in meals we eat or alternate snacks that arent chocolate or biscuits etc.
Shellieholly you are on the money when you say one bad meal etc doesn't spoil the weight loss journey so enjoy that one bad meal, move on from it and focus on the rest of the day aiming to stay as close to plan as possible.
Personally looking at enjoying group tonight, have chatted with a friend on facebook who is rallying a couple of mates to go a long to group tonight so looking forward to seeing a fuller group that stay behind for body image.
My meals today will be EE,
B, bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes and beans
L, hm soup using up some limp looking veggies from salad drawer.
T, tuna pasta bake type thing with salad after group - i say thing as hubby will be making it while im at group and may not resemble the recipe once complete :rotfl:
Good luck to all those weighing in today.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j
DD 1994, DS 1996 AND DS 1997
Lost 3st 5lb with Slimming world so far!!0 -
Thanks for that link shellie, lots more ideas :j
Going to have a late breakfast now: bacon, tomato, maybe even red onion, bread (hope I've got wholemeal not wholegrain...)
Will try and do a soup lunchtime. It's from the Comfort booklet in the January magazine. Carrot, coriander and red lentils. If it's good I'll make that up in batches.
For dinner, it's either cottage pie (if the meat that's been hanging around looks ok) or paella (again from that recipe booklet) or some pasta thing (again from that recipe booklet) but I've swopped aubergines for courgettes. Just need to check courgettes* are free or superfree.
:j

Stef what a star you are. I like and envy your way of thinking re-not eating everything just because. You will have really made some peoples christmas' by giving away.
I remember when I first started SW though, I didn't want to WASTE money by emptying out everything and buying fresh. You have to admit the marketing machine has us all believing we need 3 tubs of Quality Streets, 2 tubs of Pringles and a box of Cheese Crackers for Christmas. And its a time of luxury so don't forget the Chocolate Orange, x3 cause they're on 3 for 2 the foxes biscuits are on special too....
You have been doing SW for a while now. You know you don't NEED these. And having your son about you know what temptation can be too.
When you're so far down the path as you and I, you know that a little bit of something is a true luxury. Makes it what it is supposed to be.
For my part I decided to let the horse out the stable so to speak. To enjoy 3 weeks of everything. I didn't stop eating SW way, planning, I was still counting every syn (almost) it was my treat for getting this far. But I - like you have not been tempted to buy more after christmas. (expect the kettle chips) And next year I will buy less stuff still as we didn't use all of it but make MORE.
BUT and this is the important thing - I know I have the ability to get back on the wagon. I have the tools via SW to do so. These newbies :grouphug: bless em... don't. IN 6 weeks some of these lovely shiny new folk will be so empowered. In March with Easter.. they will pick out less chocolate and fat rich foods and come through Easter - lighter or only a small gain.
Just think of that summer dress!
I digress. Stef, humans are programmed to hoard, to covet more and better - Christmas exploits that on all levels. Thats why we do it.0 -

So cupboards now empty of high syn snacks, except for DD's which are safely stashed in her christmas bag.
Good day so far.....cinnamon porridge for brekkie, tuna pasta n sauce with broccoli just cooking for lunch and homemade tom sauce made to add to the minced beef for pasta bolognaise for dinner this evening!
Going to have extra brocolli at lunch time to make up for not wanting any fruit with my brekki!
Just a thought I add a small (250g) pack of minced beef to home made tom sauce made with 1 large onion, 2 tins of chopped toms, 1 large courgette grated, 2 large carrots grated, 1 pack of mushrooms chopped, plus seasoning and a tbsp of olive oil (6 syns).... do you think I will need to add any extra veggies for an EE meal? This will serve about 6 people, usually count as 1 syn per serving as using extra lean minced beef.

Hello
I joined a Slimming World class last night. I've always done WW in the past so SW is quite different and I've got a lot of reading to really get my head around everything. I really like the concept of the plan though and I'm hoping that I can do well on it.
So today is my first day and it's a bit of a tough one to be honest. I haven't really been organised. Normally I'll do some food shopping and come up with some food ideas before I start a diet but I joined the class last night on a whim and I don't really have any healthy food at home. I had weetabix for breakfast and I've just bought some fruit and yogurt for a snack.
Not too sure what I'm going to have for lunch. I'll need to go out and buy something but I need to come up with some ideas first
Dinner will be easier - I'll go and do some food shopping on my way home and then rustle something up.
Despite my unorganised start I'm feeling quite positive about this plan. I have A LOT to lose but I'm setting myself small realistic goals. The leader asked me what my goal was last night and I said 7lbs - she looked a bit suprised (I'm guessing most people give their ultimate goal or at least their 10% goal) but I know that goal setting can often go against me rather than motivate me so I'm trying to be sensible. Despite having a lot to lose I find that I lose quite slowly so I'm hoping to reach my first mini goal by the end of January / early February but if it takes longer that's fine. It's taken quite a few years to get to the size I am now so realistically it will take just as long (maybe longer) to lose it. I need to remind myself that this isn't a race.0
