Had my weigh in last night and I put on half a pound. I had a weekend away and was off plan for two days so the gain is understandable. However it was my first gain and whilst expected it still made me grumpy initially.
But now I’m back to being motivated and feel like giving it a real good go this week to try and achieve a good loss next week. My plan to achieve this is to drink more water, eat between 5-10 syns a day and to make a conscious effort to eat 1/3rd of superfree foods.
I think I might post my menus on here so I can’t cheat J
Milk (HEA) in cups of tea
B: Weetabix (HEB) made with boiled water and a banana
L: Homemade soup (chicken, lentils, stock, swede, carrots and leek)
S: Yogurt, apple and satsumasChilli con carne (2 syns for packet mix), potato and carrots and broccoli on the side.
S: Weight watchers biscuits (4.5 syns) and Options hot cholcoate (2 syns)
Anyone have any thoughts or pointers on my planned menu for today?0 -

Nessie - when i said the oils etc i was referring to the chillis/jalenpenos in the cheese? We dont know if they have chosen a a dried variety or whether it was one that had been soaked in oils.
Just put the info into the syns calculator (as cheese isnt a free food) ..it spat out 6.5 for both the normal/spicy cheddar.
The version i found on syns online was the aldi spicy cheddar which was synned @ 5 for 25 grams.

I never make them with milk just water to the amount of moisture required and can honestly say theres no difference in flavour or texture.
RFD For the bread i would be inclined to say go with the online values more because they are regularly updated but it may have been a typo in the books thats been overseen.
Yes i also noticed that the packaging hadnt really been updated either which makes you wonder if its been changed at all.
I thoight manufacturers have to tell you if the ingredients have been changed..hmmm

Thanks all for your comments re. pasta n sauce. As I said, I only have one occasionally so think I'll just do as I have done before and count it as free-1.5 syns depending on the flavour.I think a knob is 15g
Funnily enough this was the Homework Sucks question on Simon Mayo last night - there was a lot of variation in what people classed as a knob, didn't hear the official answer though.psychopathbabble wrote: »I know the pasta n sauces were 'new and improved' not so long ago which meant they were synned, same as the mullerlights were for a short period of time. Not sure what the outcome was though.
I remember that, although have to say I haven't seen any 'new and improved' ones in the shops nor heard any more about it.2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Hi All,
Sorry not been checking in recently, a bit down as think wife is having an affair.
WI this morning recorded 1.5 lbs loss.
Still slow going. Over 60 in our Group now.
Well done to everyone who is losing and hugs to those that are struggling.0 -
Ah, I hadn't realised there was another page after I refreshed, duh!rainbowfairydust wrote: »This has been on my mind blodwen as i have several packets that need using which have been in my cupboard at least 6 months (before the "new & improved" packs came out).
I am not synning them at all currently and this will continue to be the case until i have used them all up. Once (and if) i buy any more packs then i will syn the pack.
As an add on i also dont use butter, just add in skimmed milk (taken from hex a allowance) and water..
Might be worth checking an old packet/new packet for ingredients changes?stef240377 wrote: »As a side note to the pasta and sauce thinking about things now, when everyone was stating 'new and improved' none of the packaging altered for the original sachets not even a new and improved banner on them but, high veg and wholegrain were introduced so PERHAPS this is where we are advised to check/recheck syn values. The same goes for mugshots, there were mumblings on here and in group that the ones available in say home bargains or poundland werent the same as the ones in asda or sainsburys when in fact they are, all the ingredients listed are the same, packet sizes match etc So this could just be a bit of scare mongering from someone who has been dependant on them and is now seeing a change in losses/gains? All speculation but thinking out side the box to try and balance it.
As for cheese, this was mentioned in group at xmas with people trying to be crafty counting flavoured cheese as HEX it wont work, these have different constitutions from the ones allowed on the list so must be synned.
I usually use milk from allowance and no butter but if there isn't any difference using just water I will try that. I suppose the cheesy/creamy ones have milk powder in anyway so no milk shouldn't make much difference. Wholegrain ones have been around for a while and were on the database as free-1.5 as with the others, so not sure why they've started confusing us with this conflicting information now.
Re. mugshots- we were told this in group too and I have some in the house from HB and some from Sains and count them all the same as I don't have them often.
Re. cheese- probably classed as a small tweak but personally I would count the chilli cheese as a HE - can't see how it would make any difference as the values are practically identical, but do as I say not as I do!2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Sending a hug to you too banjo, sorry to hear about your problems but at least SW is going well for you.:T
Lush, what you have for lunch will depend on work facilities and how much time you've got for prepping. You can have beans or spaghetti hoops or ravioli or pasta n sauce type things if you're pushed. If you've got time I'd say pasta salads and HM soup.
Hope nobody minds hearing about my struggle to not go below target range. WI this morning and I lost the 3lbs I put on last week! Very undecided whether to drop my target by 7lbs or stuff my face!:D0
