    Why stint yourself!;)

Hi I am trying not to have as many carbs. as the weight is not shifting in fact I tried on a coat that i bought last Autumn 12 and it is tight so measurements are increasing not decreasing.
I just don't know what to do. drop the syns altogether.
I also feel like I am eating too much. I know everyone keeps saying the more you eat the more you lose. I've done that and it's not working. If none has gone by Tuesday, that's it.
Sorry about the moan, but I am tying so hard and it's not working.

Have you given your consultant your food diaries? I don't know if they still do, but I'm sure they had a money-back thing if it didn't work but you could prove you had followed the diet the whole time? They might have some more suggestions for you.

Wizkid i have been submitting my food diaries to my consultant to see why my weight weren't shifting. Over a few weeks i listened to her advise - cut down on red meat and introduce more white meat and fish. Cut back on the fruit and up veg intake. Above all drink more. So on top of the cups of coffee that i average around 5 a day from my milk allowance i am also drinking 2 pints of squash a day.

Try looking back over your weeks menu's to see if anything can be tweaked with the points above at the fore of your mind.

The money back guarantee is still in place however, from a conversation i had with my own consultant it seems it is only offered in the first 4 weeks if you fail to lose weight following the plan correctly and submitting the food diaries. She openly admitted that in 18 years of being a consultant it has never been given back during one of her groups.
I suppose the argument along the line was if it worked it the early days then you and only you are sabbotaging the plan from working. Along side the food diaries there are also S.A.S logs where you have to indepth look at every morsel that passes your lips to see if you know/guessed whether it is a free/superfree/syn. If a syn how you came by the syn value etc. But you dont hand these back to group as it is something to make you aware of what you are doing.

Other options are going to the Gp for blood tests to see if theres anything underlying - again one lady this week was getting desperate and has found she has an underactive thyroid which is now being medicated so hopefully she will be losing weight soon enough.

Just found this on the website -
If you’re still wondering ‘could Slimming World work for me?’ we have one more promise to share and that’s our money back guarantee – if you don’t lose weight during your first 4 weeks of membership – we’ll give you your money back! (We know you’ll be delighted with your weight loss and be even more determined to continue all the way to your target after your first month)!

Very true, I actually have an underactive thyroid myself, diagnosed around the time I started SW when I was at my heaviest in september. It's not entirely down to the thyroid I put on weight, but it certainly didn't help. Unfortunately I haven't just dropped 2 stone since taking thyroxine though ;)

I think I know the root of my problem, it's lack of exercise. I used to be a dancer and kept my weight down quite well. Now I am disabled, I can't I do try to do step ups on our bottom stair and I do go shopping, round the store and the market. But anything else no, I sit around too much in between. I don't go to a W/I now as I got no help the last time I went in 2006. I have had more help and interest from all you kind folk. Trouble is as well I have diabetes and high blood pressure. plus the fact I have had cancer I had an operation to remove it and radiotherapy and if I get through the next 12 months I will be clear, I am really not gaining just fluctuating from 11 10 to 11 6. and back again. Very frustrating, I think I will take your advice and see the Doc just in case. Thanks to you all x
    So, fingers crossed.

I haven't seen a copy of the magazine thats due out this week but there is an article on the front cover saying a lady lost 10 stone WITHOUT exercise so it is perfectly doable. Just stick with it and it will come right in the end = words many a kind soul has shared with myself over the past few weeks x
