  • Good afternoon,
Well I limited myself to just one 275 ml bottle of lager last night, but had to go to bed at 8.45pm. At least I had a smile on my face at the time, thanks to Stef :)

    Today looks like this:
    B. bowl of cherries with muller light yog
    S. Orange.
    L. Roast beef, swede, cabbage, carrots and a mountain of broccoli. Bit of bovril as gravy.

Now I must finish off some white Stilton left from New Year. I've only had a dribble of SS milk in one coffee today, so was going to use it as my hexA, but see Stilton not listed there amongst the other cheeses. So I'll have to syn it at 4 syns per 25g.

    D. 2 mini wholemeal sub rolls hexB, 50g whit Stilton 8 syns, apple, grapes, glass red wine 6 syns

Hope everyone is having a good end to the weekend.

Can any kind person recommend any free soups that taste ok, and or any free jars cans I can keep in my cupboard as a cook in sauce standby in case I am having a lazy day.

I live on my own and use a halogen cooker. They usually cost about £25 I got mine from Costco, they are very good if you have to return as they have you on their system, but I go with a friend who is a member.
They are economical to use and I can dry fry roast potatoes and Sw chips, The bowl is glass so a very easy oven to clean.THey have 2 racks,so you can cook on 2 levels.

SW chips and wedges are a firm hit in my house.. I don't bother par boiling them.. cut spuds, on a plate and into microwave for 3 mins, give them a shake up then back in to soften them a little..

onto baking tray add frylight and seasoning.. fave combo is paprika and garlic salt on ours, give them a bit of a shake up during cooking :)

Yes the halogen oven, another one of my sisters gadgets and one she actually swears by lol.

I make do with a cooker, pressure cooker, and slow cooker amongst all the usual pots and pans etc.

Banjo - If your feeling hungry of an evening why not make an omlette, load it up with bacon, mushrooms etc and know its very filling and above all free so wont sabotage your weight loss. I normally save my HEB for an evening to have as toast around 9pm, so as he is stuffing his face with chocolate and crisps i can eat healthily. Alternatively use up a few syns and swap normal crisps for the weight watchers ones, these are only 3.5 syns a packet. I have swapped dairy milk little ones for the slightly lower chocolate bars that are 99cals - i know its only a small saving syn wise but they all count ;)

Was this to stop you having more lager or was there another wine fest going on?

When I was getting to target I often felt hungry late at night. (I am a bit of a night owl and we have supper about 7.30.) I'd either have some cold meat from the fridge or attack jar of beetroot with a spoon or when feeling very starving I'd have a jacket potato with cottage cheese and beetroot.

I don't know much about halogen cookers but if you have a hob and freezer, batch cooking HM soups are the way to go with as many SFs in as possible. Aside from that some tins of soup (half a tin) can be used as a HEX. Cuppa soups on average are around the 5 syns mark on average. Free things to keep in the storecupboard would be tins of beans or spaghetti hoops or dried packets like savoury rice or pasta n sauce.

make your own soups and freeze would be the best option.. but

    on EE, he(b) choice soups

    400g can
    Heinz classic: winter veg broth
    Baxters: Vegetarian Country Garden

    300g serving
New Covent Garden: carrot + coriander, leek + potato, minestrone, our best veg, plum tomato + basil, souper greens, spicy butternut squash

    200g serving
Baxters Chunky Soup: carrot, butterbean + coriander, country veg, lamb casserole, smoked bacon + three beans

Baxters Deli Inspired: butternut squash + marscapone, roasted red pepper + feta

Baxters Favourites: scotch veg with lamb

Baxters Healthy Soup: autumn veg, Italian bean + pasta, puy lentil + tomato, tomato + brown lentil

Baxters Stay Full: beetroot, tomato + buckwheat, broccoli, salmon + watercress, spiced butternut squash + edamame bean, tomato, choritzo + mixed bean

Baxters Vegetarian: carrot + butterbean, spicy parsnip

there aren't any free jars of sauces but you cant go wrong with passata.. used with stock its a great base for pasta dishes, curries + chilli.. just use spices / herbs and seasoning to suit each dish

    What soups do you like?
When you consider the majority of soups fit in well with SW its hard not to find a recipe to whizz up a batch in less than half an hour. If you look at a soup recipe you may find the only thing you need to change is the oil to fry light. Providing it is packed full of either your free or super free foods you are on to a winner. Potato and leek would be a good starting point, couple of leeks, maybe an onion or 2, couple of spuds, then stock all bubbled away and blitzed when soft, want a little more bite to it then grill a couple of rashers of bacon and serve them on top with plenty of black pepper.

Oh thank you, that was so kind.

Steph I have only just got a freezer and am busy getting it stocked. Today I'm making a sort of butter bean cassoulet for dinner , and I am freezing a load of butter beans to add to dishes.
I do have a slow cooker, so going to make some veg stock overnight with all the uncooked veg bits leftover bits from my cassoulet, then will take it from there. MY slow cooker is red hot at the moment!
I LIKE ALL FOOD, that's the problem, but minestrone would be my favourite.

So for Banjo - Weight watchers crisps 3.5 syns, low calorie choc bar 5 syns , and SW ice cream 1syn per serving.
    Black forest ice cream

ingredients>4 x 175g pots Mullerlight cherry yogurt (or any other Free yogurt)
    3-4 tbsp artificial sweetener
110g drained canned black cherries in juice
    1 tbsp Kirsch
150g fat free natural fromage frais
    1 tsp vanilla essence
    grated chocolate, to garnish (optional)
So you can eat all the same things as your wife but make sensible choices. All the above is just 9.5 syns!!
