Google is my friend, its Kohl Rabi.its all the same thing.. not fennel, could it be celeriac.. looks similar but not as nobbly.. if that makes sense?
Kohlrabi tastes great steamed, stir-fried, added to soups and stews or dipped in batter and fried to make tempura or fritters. Served cold, it adds a pleasing crunch and mild spicy note to salads. Both the leaves and the bulb can be eaten: cook the leaves as you would spinach.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Braised Kohlrabi with Garlic and Parmesan
Serves 2 as a side dish- 1 teaspoon butter (suppose you could swap for frylight here!)
- 1 kohlrabi, peeled and cut into thin strips
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 200 ml chicken or vegetable stock
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Freshly grated Parmesan (healthy 'a')
Kohlrabi & Carrots
Ingredients
1 medium kohlrabi, chopped into 3/4 " cubes (about 2 cups)
4 large carrots, cut into chunks to match the size of the kohlrabi
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter (optional)
salt and pepper
Directions
1 Cover the Kohlrabi and carrots with lightly salted water and boil until quite tender (about 15-20 minutes).
2 Drain.
3 Lightly mash, leave a lot of texture don't try to make them smooth like mashed potatoes.
4 Add nutmeg and butter.
5 serve.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j
