  • MollyJoe, I understand you wanting to check but it will drive you crazy if you weigh every day as weights do fluctuate a lot depending on food/water intake, exercise, bloating, etc etc. Please please stay off the scales :)

  • Talking of the books you can buy... any particular one better than another? I was looking at the free branded food ones, but maybe the directory would be better?

When I signed up online last week, I also ordered the 2013 food directory which was £7.50 plus postage. I wanted it because after the 3 months I signed up for, I am going it alone so it would be good to have for branded stuff etc.

I was going to suggest I can buy you one but just checked and it says in red under the book: "You have purchased 1 copy of this item, you cannot buy any more". I suppose that is so people don't buy it for selling on.
  • Hello :hello:,

After doing SW last year and losing 3 stones and then losing the plot and putting 2 back on (40th birthday, holidays, loss of willpower etc!!!) I went back to group this week and am determined to get the weight back off plus more.

Started yesterday so heres my food diary for yesterday:

Breakfast - Poached egg and beans on 2 slices of wholemeal toast from small loaf (HEB), Clover (1.5 syns)

Lunch - Roast Chicken Mug shot, raspberries and pineapple and a Berry Bakewell SW bar (6 syns)

Dinner - Herby Minced Beef Couscous (from SW recipe book), 2x mini chocolate brownies (6 syns)

HEA was milk in my coffees, teas. Total syns for day 13.5

Today I'm off to buy some syn free sausages and burgers from my local butchers :D.

    Weigh in is Wednesday evening.

    Good luck everyone

mmm.. look at these.. look scrummy http://www.skinnytaste.com/2012/03/skinny-texas-cheese-fries.html?m=1

going to make some.. frylight and the SW alternatives of course.. the dip from quark or yoghurt with garlic, chives perhaps...

    <drool>

They look delicious, good for a Friday or Saturday night snack.... even with some cucumber and tomato slices, I need to get some grated Low Low cheese, the problem is the teenagers would want them too!;)

    today:

    B: egg/ mushrooms/apple
L: veg and lentil soup, 3 Ryvita chili crackers(HEB) lf cottage cheese, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, fruit
T: something with chicken, not sure what yet ,maybe with rice. Anyone got any good tried out curry dishes, most of them are tomato based and not so keen on them.

HEA: cheese, prob 5 light laughing cow triangles with some syned crackers for evening nibbling.
Syns: little cadbury bar 5 1/2, milky bar 3 1/2

snacks: fruit and cherry tomatoes (my tactic when I open the fridge is to just pop in a cherry tomato, trying to get out of the habit of just mindlessly nibbling all day long, specially when cooking etc)

    Morning all,

Well done to those who have lost or have an NSV, and a massive congrats to Stef on your 2 stone :D Also great news about Mr TIE's job!

Just been through the last few pages (you lot were busy yesterday!) and trying to remember all the things I wanted to reply to so sorry if this is a bit all over the place!

Re. Feb mag- our consultant was meant to have them last week but her delivery was delayed, but she was getting them on Tues or Weds so they will defo be available in class by 4th Feb.

pennylane (and others;)), I think we can all hit a plateau sometimes whether we're near target or not. I noticed a sort of pattern like stef when I'd only lose every few weeks. I just stuck it out and it came right in the end but my plan was to try a bit of Success Express and go back to weighing/measuring my HEXs as I'd got a bit lax with that. The 'day off' theory is what loads of people do in practice and still lose. Someone I knew used to go to WI and then call in the chippy on the way home. What did jump out at me from your post was 'if I have any syns'. You really should have them.

I don't go back that far but I'd imagine the Extra Easy plan has been brought in since you last did it. The Red and Green plans are still in the books but your consultant will probably focus completely on EE at your talk. To me, it's like Red and Green together but with only one HEA and one HEB each day.

BIB - I think I fall into that camp :o My mum reckons a meal off plan boosts your metabolism and I've always had good losses but not sure if is anything to do with having an uncounted night after WI or not! What I do know is that psychologically it keeps me on track as I know it's never more than a week before I can have what I want.

Re. changes in the plan over the years- I used to go when I was a teenager, 16-17 years ago. Yes, EE has been introduced since then but the red and green are very similar. The free food list has been made more stringent in terms of processed food (used to be allowed tins of macaroni cheese for 0 syns (or sins as they were back then) - it was rank but plenty of people still ate it! Saying that, other stuff that used to be syns like stock cubes are now free, so it's swings and rounabouts.

WI later, don't feel like I've lost but will see?!

    My losses have been
    -5, +1/2, -2.5, -1/2, -2.5, sts, -2.5, -1.5, sts, -4 (2 weeks loss) +1/2, -2.5

I was buzzing after that first loss then put on the next week!.. And other than the gain week before last I have pretty much stuck to the plan and have used but never gone over syns.. eat a good balance of food..

know I haven't drank enough water but have most of this week had at least 1.5L a day.. will carry that on..

I've looked at perhaps having smaller portion sizes and starting some exercise as BP getting back to normal now and knees ache less!

Well done losers and all.. Doubt i'll get my club 10 tonight but hope I get the 1lb needed for 1.5 stone!

Mich, maybe I'm misunderstanding but by talking of reducing portion size are you saying you're not losing much or quickly? I think they're perfectly good losses! Your STS weeks have always been followed by a fairly big loss and you say the gain was justified, so IMO you're doing great!

    Today:
    B. Orange
    L. Starter of poached salmon with mini whole meal sub roll (HexB)
Followed by chicken livers, onions, broccoli, carrots.
    Followed by summer fruits .
    D. Guinea fowl, SW wedgies, salad.
2 glasses white wine 12 syns

Much better, good work that man! ;) Just need to up the breakfast and you'll be sorted. You might find you're happier having 'normal' things like a glass of wine in the evening and from what you've said your wife may be happier with that too.

Away day with work yesterday was good - lunch was a hot meal rather than sandwiches so I chose beef hotpot and veg, ignored the desserts and had a coffee afterwards. The beef was in chunks rather than mince and although I think there was oil in it, it seemed relatively healthy. I've estimated the syns for the day but think I was ok:
    B: Porridge (B), milk (A), banana, maple syrup (2)
L: Beef hotpot (3 for oil/gravy), carrots, peas
T: Lasagne (3 for cheese), broccoli
S: Lime squash in pub (3.5), Celebrations choc (2.5), tiny boiled sweet (1)

    Today will be green:
    B: Poached eggs, 2 x small wholemeal bread (B), 10g butter (3.5), milk (A)
L: Low fat super noodles, satsuma
T: TBC - either Linda Mac rosemary & onion sausages with chips & veg, or veg curry and rice
    S: Maybe some cheese on toast (A & B), Freddo (5), hot choc (2)

Have a great day and weekend fellow losers! :)

1 - 5-15 per day this doesn't change even if you exercise
2 - no idea sorry, will try and look in a minute
3 - breakfast, lunch & dinner, I always snack inbetween too on fruit etc.

Does the food directory have all the free stuff in it too? I guess having this one means it's a lot quicker to look stuff up while shopping etc! Thanks for the thought :)

ETA: I made a curry using pataks korma pasta last week, my friend gave me the recipe using tikka pasta but i'm a wimp with curries ;) I believe it's 1 syn per tablespoon of paste and I just added natural ff yoghurt as it's what I had:

Fry some grated garlic & shallots in some fry light, then add the chicken and fry until nearly cooked. Add 4 tbsp of passata while you're stirring 250ml of chicken stock made with chicken bovril. Add the stock along with 2 tbsp of Pataks Tikka paste. Bring to the boil and simmer for 7-8 minutes, stirring regularly. When you're ready to serve, add a few tbsps of fat free fromage frais to thicken up.
