Banjo - PLEASE eat more - you're making me hungry just looking at what you are eating!
We had a lady WI this week and STS and wondered why - when we looked at her food diary on a typical day she was eating weetabix with milk, jacket potato & beans and an apple - no wonder she didn't loose - she must of been starving! Some days she didn't even have breakfast & didn't use her healthy extra properly either!
I would definately reccommend eating more as everyone else has said
Why not try to have cereal for breakfast? or toast? a sandwich for lunch - the health extras are there for a reason - they are for you to keep healthy!
Yesterday's food diary was green (i get extra healthy extras as preg):
B - Bacon 'butty' with bacon as heb1 & bread as heb2 brown sauce 2syns
L - Grapes, Mugshot, Cheese as hea1, Quorn slices
D - Veg shpeherds pie with added veg on side at pub with gravy 5syns? topped with cheese hea2
S - Special K chewy bar as heb3, muller light, banana, milky coffee as hea3, Apple & Mango J2O 3.5syns
Today is EE day:
B - Nutella on toast heb1 & 4 syns
L - Ham and cheese sandwich with light mayo hea1 & heb2 & 1 syn
D - Some type of stirfry with noodles
S - Milky coffee hea2, grapes, carrot sticks, cherries, battenberg 5syns
Have enough syns left for packet french fries or choc buttons :-)0 -
Sorry Banjo, but I'm going to add my two penn'eth (hope you realise it's because we've had such success with SW we want it to work for you too).:)
Your post said you were 'desperate' to lose weight. I was the same but I knew I would never be able to sustain a starvation diet like yours without giving up. I don't even like yoghurt!:rotfl:I had to have something that would allow me to eat real food, plenty of it and (above all:o) enjoy my wine at weekends.
I remember my first WI, getting off the scales and saying in amazement 'so it really does work!'. So much of losing weight is in your head. For me I tell myself it's a healthy eating plan where you can have as much as you like of healthy foods especially f&v but keep fatty, sugary, floury stuff to treat status which we all know makes sense. We've had many a discussion about how it works and I'm sure we'll have more (like why a satsuma is fine but orange juice is synned). Meantime, try to relax and follow the plan. Give it a chance to work for you.0 -

Just been reading the posts about people not eating enough and maybe that's where I'm going wrong.
I gained half a pound last week and stayed the same this week and I'm not very pleased.
I stick to plan and I NEVER eat sweets, bread, biscuits, crisps, anything fried etc. In other words what I eat is SW and healthy.
I never eat between meals either. Since the new year I have also upped my exercise and walk 2 miles every day at a very brisk pace and do 1 yoga session a week.
A typical day for me is
Oatbran with half skimmed milk & half water with fresh fruit on top. (Using HEs)
Lunch Grilled bacon and mushroom omelette or homemade SW soup. Piece of fruit or Mullerlight yog.
SW casserole or stew with loads of veggies
Meringue nest (synned) and fresh fruit
If I have any syns they are used on things like: meringue nest, Options drink, gravy granules (to thicken stews etc), low fat creme fraiche (on fruit).
Even though I'm not losing at the moment I do feel quite toned and fit and I know everybody says muscle weighs more than fat but at the same time I must lose something soon. People I know do no exercise at all and lose 2 or 3 lbs and still have an odd chocolate bar or pizza! It just gets me down sometimes .... sorry!:(0 -

Pennylane..your menu looks to be lacking in carbs . I know from several people that carbs are very important when exercising - off the top of my head I can't recall exactly why. I will speak to a friend who will know the exact reason & tell you.
What plan do you tend to follow? I can't quite discern from your menu above. You could possibly have a couple of success express days in your menu as this may kick start your system again. Do you vary your healthy extras? This also may be worth a try to get your metabolism re-started.
A final thing that's worth mentioning is that its actually good for the body to eat more on one day of the week because the extra calories means your metabolism has to really start working again in order to burn off the extra energy ..it sounds like you have stabilised in this respect. This is something that all body builders do too.
ETA - no need to apologise either. One of the great things about this thread is the support that is offered. I had a gain on Monday which I was upset about as I have no idea why it happened. People's kind words on this thread made me feel a bit less like a failure.

thank you to you both blackberry and mumoftwo for your advice ...
.. reading through the recipes ive decided i will try and start make some home made soups for lunch, it would seem its all down to preparation and making time,Congratulations Nessie.
I am going to try and make tomato soup today. I have made many other soups with tinned tomatoes in them but for some reason never made just tomato soup with fresh tomatoes. I have some celery, carrots and onion to go in too, is that enough flavour do you think? (and stock ofcourse)
Famous SW tomato soup recipe, reputed to taste just like Heinz (but it's been about 30 yrs since I tasted that so who knows) SIMPLE:
2 tins tomatoes
1 tin baked beans
1 tin carrots
1 very large or 2-3 smaller pickled onions
blend all the above (you may wish to drain the carrots then see if you need to re-add some of the liquid), and heat through, and serve!Just the chips as had loads and chips and veg don't seem to go together, will have to try harder.
thank you
and with the chips, if you've picked up any of the little booklets from the SW magazine, the recipe for SW ketchup is in nearly every one and it's fab, better than shop ketchup (I add a bit of chilli to the recipe).
I'll read the next few pages now, sorry missed a few days :rotfl::jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
thank you Slimming World!
