The syns are built in to the plan for you to use them so go ahead and indulge.

Are you weighing at the same time of the day on the same day each week? Yes your monthly cycle will show in your losses and in group we call this star week. However it is not always the same week for all women, some it is mid cycle, some the few days before etc. so it may be beneficial for you to record this and see how the next few weeks go so you can watch a pattern emerge.

The bread is from a small 400g loaf.

I can't get the hang of this sfs thing. :o

I guess i'll just have to have salad on the side of everything.

That would work but very boring!! I just love seeing the photos of your meals BCS, they look so appetising. I don't think many (if any) fruits or veggies have changed from SF to free in the last few years so your books should be fine. It tends to be the pulses and starchy veg which are just free (like baked beans, peas and corn). I must admit the baby corn being SF was a surprise stef. Just proves how useful it is to re-read the books.

Your meal today with mushrooms, onions, broccoli and carrots sounds fine. Only the peas aren't SF.
mum2one don't run off - feel free to hang about in here with us and get a feel of the plan ready to start.

Thats exactly what I was going to say mum2one. I know you've got a lot on but it's two months to Easter and you could have made a really good start by then. Have a look at the 7 day menus on the SW site and keep coming on here and you could really get into it. I didn't do any exercise to speak of (just the odd stroll:o) when I got to target so don't worry about that.

    Today:

    B. Muller light greek yog with 35g muesli. Orange
    S. Orange
    L. Homemade veg soup - all superfree
    D. I'm going to make the SW Pakora with SW chicken tikka and the yogurt and mint sauce.

A glass or two of wine.

I use 2tbsps yogurt to 1 tbsp mint sauce and then sweeten to taste. Using Total 0% makes a thicker 'dip' than normal yoghurt. Obviously you can up the quantities if you want to make loads. Will the family be sharing?

BTW, :Ton resisting the chocolate cheesecake.

    Hi all,

I have been lurking for some time.
    Decided I must try again.
Have previously done WW and to be perfectly honest I used to starve. And it all went back on.
And of course now I am over 40 (42) I think its has to be done.
Unfortunately I can not afford to join a group and pay weekly so I borrowed a friends books and have been following this thread....

I am hoping you will all be very kind and help me.

This is the end of my 2nd week and I am not sure I am doing this correctly at all.

I like very little veg, forcing myself to eat fruit.

But I tend to have lots of things to eat through out the day and night. I am a picker !

Is this ok as long as it's the same amount of food?

    Typical day.
    Breakfast is 5am Muller
    9am Banana
    Lunch 11.45 Beans
    Muller greek (0.5 syn)
    2pm Satsuma

Tea 5.pm Chicken portion with carrot and turnip

    Snacks banana

    evening 6- 9pm after eight (2.5 syn)

Supper 9.30pm 350ml skim milk and 2 weetabix
    healthy extra A & B

Banjo - good job! Now you've proven you can have a couple of glasses and still stay in control :)

Off down to mums for birthday dinner tonight which is a roast, i can make SW roasties, so it will be more or less syn free apart from gravy.

I had a tub of quark in the fridge so made up a trio of dips

    Chilli jam with added chilli
    Garlic and balsamic onions
Plain garlic - which would blow your head off!!!

Bought a load of cabbage and turnip today to make bubble and squeak, and baby potatoes to make the hassleback ones as they were really very very tasty for little effort :A

I was away at a hotel for mums 60th so had a few indulgences on wed & thu so really need to kick m yself up the bum and get back into proper SW mode. GOing to leave weigh for a week or two so I can offset mums birthday celebrations. Ive made victoria sponge tonight so will have a tiny slice of that and be fully back on plan tomorrow.

I dunno, that doesn't seem an awful lot of food to me?

    Yesterday i had

B - Bacon and toast, banana, 3 clementines, yog.
L - Chilli with rice and cheese
D - home made black bean (mostly veg, some quorn) with HM egg fried rice.

I snacked on grapes all day, and had a pack of popcorn for syns (6) first time -very very delicious!!!! Here's a link showing the various other similar low syn treats

Well have now got back from my weigh-in and have lost 3lb ! So a total of 3lb in 3 weeks which isnt a bad average. I confessed to the group my mega binge on Thurs evening after jumping on the scales thurs and noticing a gain and am relieved to note that I am not alone.

Hvae thrown the scales out to resist temptation and will just weigh once a week at group. Off to read my books now - good luck this week everyone. xx

    Thanks for the link zippy.

welcome mollyjoe, and of course we'll help you! I totally agree with zippy that you aren't having much food. That's particularly worrying as you said you starved yourself before and it all went back on. You've only had three syns all day and you could have up to 15, are you saving them? Have a good look through the list of SF's. Tell us which you would/could eat. Don't you like potatoes/pasta? Your tea looks tiny unless there's a mountain of veg. Keep posting!

Help! I've been doing SW for 4 weeks now (not at groups, using books at home as can't afford it) and have had good losses for first 3 weeks -4lb, 3lb, 2lb and this week I've stayed the same. I'm really disheartened as this week I've hardly had any syns and been really good. I'm halfway through my "women's cycle" if that makes any difference? Just fed up as thought this week I'd go down to the next stone but not. :( Any advice?

I think it can make a difference, does with me.. and other times i've had some weeks where I've stuck to it rigidly and had a maintain or 0.5lb gain!.. don't let of dishearten you as if you stick with it the losses will start to come.. make sure you use some syns, its all part of the plan and you should use them (for something nice preferably) ;)
  • Thanks all, will stick with it! :)
