A 4th No Spend month on clothes in a row.
Who'd have thought that was possible earlier this year - not me! Anyway while I focus on repaying various debts it's really helping me stay on track with my plans.
£0 spend May/June/July/August
Really pleased and I'm going for another one for September to see if I can make it 5 in a row.

Well, I fell off the wagon a little. I won't list everything I've bought but in August I spent £209.50. It's only now I've looked back over my spending diary and added it all up, sort of lost track when on holiday etc... Must try harder, and not buy anything until the end of the year now!Time for some debt busting in 2015 - Light Bulb Moment 4/4/15

I have not posted here for ages as I lost my password and then I could not find which email I registered to.
I am pleased to report 0 spend. I am however putting on a bit of weight due to overeating so I am not sure how I am going to cope.
Does anyone have ANY tips how to stop stress eating? I am not exercising enough due to laziness and long commute to work and I am under a bit of stress. Sometimes I just grab things at work and eat without even realising it. I need to stop this somehow but seems quite hard.
I would also appreciate tips about how to stop stress eating. That's why I had to give in and go out and buy new clothesTime for some debt busting in 2015 - Light Bulb Moment 4/4/15

I'm still plodding along on this challenge doing really well as well so far this year I've spent about £60 on necessary clothes though I did have a blowout and spent £35 on an animal bag the weekend but in my defence I haven't bought a bag for years. Anyway I put my work jeans on yesterday and they've got a hole in the knee, I'm truly gutted didn't want to have to buy another pair oh well looks like I have no choice, then this morning when I was putting the washing out I noticed holes all around the waistband of my favourite pj bottoms. I don't need to replace these got loads more.Crazy clothes challenge 2012 £105.50/£480 :jItems removed from wardrobe 16

I've been stress eating, too
I can't fit into any of my size 10 stuff and some of my 12s either  I think I'm about a size 13 ATM in places. My first post on this thread thought that I'd be buying new clothes as I'd lost weight, perhaps my winter wardrobe in the loft will fit me after all!
So...
I've downloaded a free app called My Fitness Pal and I log my food and exercise (light housework and walking counts!) and it's definately curbed the munchies. It's the only method that works for me. I was very tempted to have cereal before bed last night, but realised that I wasn't hungry so stopped myself.
Anyhoo,
Bought a Chloe bag in CS for £10, black leather and sooo practical.
I spent £166 last month on clothes, including half price leather winter boots that I'd been gazing wistfully at since I first met them, four jumpers, smart t-shirts and a going out top (my wardrobe had turned into a SAHM collection), so I'm very pleased, although my numbers are:
2013 Clothes Challenge #12 £513.29/£300
OOOOOoooops.
Still, I'm sure if it wasn't for this challenge it'd be double that.0 -
I started this challenge a few years ago but didn't get very far.
Then last year I started keeping a spreadsheet of what I was wearing each day which was really helpful, included costs of items etc and that lasted about 6 months.
This year I've done nothing, apart from buy things! I haven't actually done too badly and I've got much better at sending/taking things back apart from one place online where I think I need to stop shopping as I've got a whole pile from there I won't wear and didn't return in time
So for the rest of the year I will follow this thread with interest, trying to prevent any random spending and then start in earnest in January - we've just started our mortgage free wannabe journey and so our 'disposable money' which went on clothes, hobbies etc is now being limited and going on the mortgage instead!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Hello again, I haven't posted in ages, had a couple of no spend months and a couple of small spendies.
June spends were a £12 dress worn as a top and 2 pairs of leggings for £8 from Select.
July spend was a winter coat in Bon Marche, this one as it happens.
My aim for the year was to have a new winter coat and very little else.
So September finds me No 29 £57/£100
Very happy about this, I've enjoyed the clothes I have much more this year.
Incidentally, I am a reformed stress-eater.
I have arthritis and the physical and mental stress of the extra weight was more than the temporary stress of stress-eating.
I stopped buying my typical stressy foods when I realised that was when they were eaten (crisps, ice-cream, salamis, cakes...) and it has worked.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Hi. Can I join in?
I have no idea what I have spent on clothes this year, probably far too much!! I love clothes and I like to shop but tend to buy clothes for a lifestyle that I just don't have. I wear a uniform to work and when not at work I am cleaning, shopping and running after the kids. Night outs are infrequent and usually involve a trip to local pub or pizza place with family or friends (pretty relaxed). I have way too many clothes and have started clearing some out as I often buy basic items that I already have (because I can't find the original)! How mad is that? As the kids get older money is getting tighter and we desperately need more free cash. I'm a bit of a perfectionist where clothes are concerned although I'm no fasionista I hate to look frumpy. I guess I'm just vain.
Anyway I have been inspired by your posts and have decided not to buy anymore clothes for myself for the rest of the year.
Wish me luck! Scatty
PS re stressy eating. I agree with those who said the only way is not to buy it (easier said than done).Crazy clothes challenge 140/1800 -
Well another month gone and still doing ok, pay day tomorrow
No 17 Zero spend of Zero!
Weather on the turn so have sorted out some warmer clothes and seem to have plenty to take me to end of the challenge without needing to spend anything. It feels good to have made it so far and only 3 months to go!Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0
