Silver_Lining wrote: »Just found this challenge, and feels like in the nick of time! I've just started using a spending app on my phone and am appalled by how much I've been spending on clothing. from the 26th of September to now I've spent £115.49. This does not sit well with my saving goals and so I would like to pledge: £0 from October 11th (last day I bought clothes) to the New Year.
This is for clothes, shoes, makeup, perfume and jewellery. I went through my room last night and I have far too much of all of them.
Good luck for anyone else on this challenge!), Welcome and good luck. Here's the No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries thread to help you with the make up buying.
I've been good, no spends on clothes at all, since I bought my winter coat. I haven't got my heavy winter clothes out yet, I've been trying to use summer clothes to make autumn outfits, putting long sleeved tops under summery tunics, using sleeveless polo necks rather than scarves to give a bit of coverage under tops showing a lot of cleavage.
I did splash out some cash; on a heated throw from A!di, as my house is very open-plan and I get cold easily when working (my work is online, so it's not particularly active.) There's a limit to how many jumpers you can wear and still be able to move your arms.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Another pay day and No 17 Zero spend/Zero budget.
Glad its only two months to go now as I am starting to feel like going for a bit of retail therapy! I have been asked what I want for xmas already by a few people and have said 'gift cards for clothes shops'!!!Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0 -
Oh my, I've seriously fallen off the band wagon. I spent far too much on far too many clothes for my holiday in September (didn't even wear some) and some are now too tight after our rather indulgent holiday.
So, my aim now is to buy nothing for the rest of the year. I have already invested in 2 new coats (£10 & £5 in a sale) new jumpers for work and new, warmer pjs.
I have 4 going out dresses (I don't even go out that much!) and plenty of tops and trousers suitable for work from the holiday wardrobe.
Hopefully my boots will last until the new year so I should be sorted!0 -
A 6th No Spend month on clothes in a row.
£0 spend May/June/July/August/Sept/Oct
Amazed I've done it.
Leaves £98.12 left for the final 2 months
Not sure if I will spend in Nov yet so I'll see how I get on

Hi All
Been offline for a while (got diagnosed with breast cancer last year, had mastectomy) This year Breast reconstruction and tummy tuck and other op went well - unfortunately have completely blown the budget on replacing lots of clothes! (all on special offer of course)
If I get time, I'll calculate and post. Also will pledge no more clothes till the end of the year and join in again next year.

Hi all
haven't posted in ages, but wanted to catch up and see how everyone's doing. I haven't bought anything new since my last purchases and although I have overspent still, I haven't gone massively over and it's still nice to see EXACTLY what I have spent on clothes for myself this year. Maybe next year I'll stay within budget (or set a more realistic one), especially as the year isn't over yet. I am going to try really hard to not buy anything else new this year.
It seems like everyone is doing well which is brilliant to read.
Have a great day.0 -

Hope you are well, Eltee. I think you deserved a whole new wardrobe xx
A man from my catalogue called last night tryign to persuade me to buy something. I hung up in the end after going in around in circles.
"Hi, you haven't purchased from the catalogue recently."
"I don't need anything"
" What would you typically buy from us?"
"Clothes, but I don't need any new clothes"
" So what type of clothing are you looking to buy?"
"I'm not, I don't need any new clothes"
"Maybe a new dress for the festive season?"
"I don't need any new clothes though, I have loads"
"What would you buy if I offered you 10% off?"
"Nothing, I don't need any new clothes"

Eltee I think you more than deserve some new clothes, we will all look the other way while you blow your budget for the year!
I haven't posted for a very long time in this challenge. I have definitely had some spend free months over the summer but I can't remember what they wereI did buy some new jeans last month as I have lost a bit of weight and my skinny jeans are no longer very skinny (they are also quite elderly!) and I wanted nice ones for going out.
Bought 2 pairs of jeans and a new top from New Look bringing my total spend up to £190/£200 so I am just in budget if I don't spend anything else, ha ha!No more buying unnecessary toiletries 2018

Oh dear, I'm not very good at this:o. I 'accidently' (as in I had completely forgotten I was not supposed to buy anymore clothes) bought a couple of jumpers from charity shop. I bought 1 of them because it was from the Kate Moss at Topshop collection, unfortunately it doesn't make me look like Kate Moss
.
From now on I shall repeat HisMissus mantra: 'But I don't need anymore clothes' wnenever I leave the house.:)
