Well done on your Freedom outfit!
I've planned my next Freedom Friday outfit which will be a jumper dress that is now workwear which I wore a lot last year and it needs to be worn this year, with grey boots.final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Yesterday a friend gave me 5 skirts (Boden, Hobbs, Per Una) in a size down from me. That means I can lose some more weight and not have to buy any more jeans - but I will have to wear skirts! Still, 3 of them are denim
.
However, boots have developed a split in the sole. Anyone know of any suitable glue to stop the water coming in? They have a black rubber sole...0 -

Has anyone any tips on keeping clothes looking New? I've tried to brighten some whites with Napisan (fail) dying all my black stuff black in the washing machine (double fail, ruined a couple of towels in the process!) I've started using colour catcher sheets, only 3 of us in the house so don't always have enough for a full load of colours/whites/darks.x
a bit old fashioned I suppose but the old saying a stitch in time saves 9 holds true when looking after clothes, getting in the habit of making small repairs when they happen, repairing stitching, replacing buttons and instantly blotting any stains rather than leaving them to dry and hoping they come out in the wash! also cleaning shoes regularly, and rotating them so you dont wear the same ones every day. Getting them re-heeled and that kind of thing, I sometimes cringe that its costs best part of a tenner to get shoes re- heeled but its a lot cheaper than £50 for a new pair!
I tend to do half loads of washing and only put similar colours in rather mix lights and darks if I dont have enough for a full load, this seems to be the easiest way to keep light colours fresh.... also bio powder does tend to bleach out black eventually making it grey over time..... I also avoid tumble drying, not just for the cost but for the lint that comes out of the clothes..... it does wear them out more quickly than line drying.
maybe its just me but I think because we have washing machines and tumble driers and its so easy we dont look after clothes in the same way perhaps our parents or grandparents did. We bung them in the machine and forget about them thinking that the technology does it all for us!Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0 -
Hi, please can I join this challenge? I am a shopaholic, but am going for a £100 total spend - although I'm not counting anything 'reinvested' through spending the proceeds of Ebaying old clothes, presents or gift vouchers.0

Think you might have to have a new sole put on them for full effectiveness - even waterproof contact adhesive would probably split over time. But before you go to nearest cobblers, I redid my daughters boots last year myself by buying a pair of decent black soles off fleabay, they came with a little tube of appropriate glue,a sanding tool,(as you need to make the sole of the boot a little rough to help the glue work)- unless there is a hardware store near you you might be able to buy there.
It cost me £6 I think to do it myself and they have lasted fine and she wears most days.Oh and on line many of the sellers are cobblers themselves and stock different sizes, materials and colours.
This also goes for redoing heels on shoes too!Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 £57.20/£100,CCC 2013 £68.67/£100 ,CCC 2014 £94.32/£100

I bought some soles for some boots that had lost the grip from Amaz0n for a few quid, used a vouchers from Swagbucks so it cost be nothing in my mind. It's easy to do if you follow the instructions carefully.
Well, my new bras arrived yesterday, Hubby was right when he said my old white bra was grey and manky. Also got a pair of jeans. They were 2 for £35 so ordered a pair in my size and a pair a size smaller to put away (made my order valid for free delivery too) but the smaller size fit perfectly so will have to send other pair back. Not sure whether they'll charge me full price as I'm only keeping one so will update sig later.
No more spends for me now ideally til April!0 -
