Can i join as well?
I failed the challenge last year, my budget was £240 and in the end I lost track of what I spent, 463.75 on ebay clothes, £100 on other clothes, £50 on lingerie, about £250 on shoes, and about £650 on workwear. I said workwear does not count but still, i probably spent about £1000 on clothes and shoes if i count everything!
This year I'll budget £500 to include everything, including underwear, socks, shoes, workwear etc.
It's going to be hard:(
2013 spends so far
£52.26 at oxfam online
£6 in river island
3.50 in accessorize.
I got:
Austin reed suit
M&s blazer
Per una blazer
Evening dress
Black silk evening dress
Ted baker silk top
An alice band
Some hairties
And 2 pairs of thermal socks.
Spends so far: £61.50

sorry, just seen this
I've no idea what I have spent in the past, but I do know I 'bought' a pair of boots this year which would have only left me pennies in my budget:o
Going to catch up with the thread.xI'll get there!0 -
Caught up
I don't actually have that many clothes, it's just that I like expensive shoes/boots and coats!
So, I'd like to declare that I will not buy boots of any type this year. Or flip flops. Or dressy shoes. Or coats/body warmers. Or handbags (I did buy a new everyday handbag from Clarks on NYE, leather, half price, and bought with Christmas money)
I'm allowing myself 3 pairs of cheap pumps for summer and that is all the foot wear I'm allowed!
I still have £30 of Christmas money left and a £30 Debenhams voucher. Kids have £10 next vouchers. Don't think I'll include that in the budget.
Things I need to replace:
Decent jeans x 2
vest tops
T shirts
Cardigans x 2
Has anyone any tips on keeping clothes looking New? I've tried to brighten some whites with Napisan (fail) dying all my black stuff black in the washing machine (double fail, ruined a couple of towels in the process!) I've started using colour catcher sheets, only 3 of us in the house so don't always have enough for a full load of colours/whites/darks.xI'll get there!0 -
So this year I am determined. I especially like the idea of saving the difference to do something nice with, as I find a lot of my nicer clothes gather dust as I dont have enough special opportunities to wear them. I have the clothes for the life I want, but not the life itself as budget gets taken up with clothes....madness!
I think I will plan a theatre trip (or two) with any money left over.
Now that is a great idea! I have enough dressy dresses to deck out the entire cast of strictly come dancing with some to spare but a very *ahem* limited social life. I'm doing well to get to the local pub more than once a month TBH and the raw silk turquoise and silver beaded full length grecian dress that cost me £180 from monsoon and has only been worn once, while stunning, may look a little out of place there! :rotfl:
I 'bought' myself a scarf from H&M with returns of Christmas presents and, since i re-gifted a book that I'd already got and bought kids clothes and other birthday gifts with other returns I can add £35.50 to my total!

Went shopping at the weekend as DD desperate to spend her Christmas 'money'. I didn't spend any actual cash!!!
However, my £30 gift voucher is all used up on two smarter tops that will do for going out or days when I have to put in a little more effort at work, and DD spent her £20 gift voucher too, managing to get herself a pair of skinny jeans, which she's lived in since, and two vest tops.
From here on out I'll be using up my budget.Crazy clothing #031: Me £4/50(+vouchers)/DD £4.50/150

Hi, I'd like to try and keep myself on track this year as I managed to halve my spending from 2011 to 2012. I will stick with a budget of £500 though, as I will need new boots and jeans at some point.
Clothes needed solely for work or exercise I track separately, so they don't go in the overall budget. I have usually put lingerie in my total but may have to rethink this as there are some things getting a bit saggy after surviving the 2012 challenge!
I also have my first spend of the year to declare - £11.75 on a Bravissimo dress from Ebay. It's a dress I already have in a different colour, I missed buying it in the shops and have been looking for it ever since so am really pleased to have found it now. Especially as it's saved about £43 in the process! And it may do very nicely for a relative's wedding this summer.

Thank you for the number, I didn’t realise initially that I had signed myself up as was just wanting to share some advice that I found helpful however now that I am on board I think that £300 isn’t so much of a challenge as that’s just what I budget for clothes and accessories. Do you think I need to reduce it (and if so by how much) to make it an actual challenge?!
Also in the spirit of freedom Friday, albeit a day late, I did wear a skirt I haven’t worn in ages on a night out on Saturday0
