    11) loads of old talk handouts
    12) broken folders
    13) a folder of old application forms
Hooray, that's another big box sorted in my office. I liked the 3 pile system that toothbrush lady advocates, slightly different to flylady:
Keep, throw, dont know. I find this a really quick first sort for office stuff.

I will declutter, I will declutter............meaning less to clear away and more time to spend with my lovely family
  • I've been good so far this year, I've been to the skips twice so far and getting rid of old tat that I don't need :)

Keep up the good work girls!

  • I haven't been posting much on this thread but it is so inspiring to see other people's rooms (before and after!) and see lists of things that you are all getting rid of. Our place is in reasonably good shape now but I know there's a lot in it that we don't need so I'm plugging away. My resolution was to get rid of at least one item every day and it can be difficult to decide on what goes every day. Have to say I don't miss any of the things I have got rid of so far, though!

Today's item will be something from the linen closet, I think. It's full to bursting and I can never find what I need, plus the door doesn't shut properly any more because sheets and towels keep getting in the way :o
  • Well I have decluttered some birthday party invites by writing them for dd's party. I had lots of oddments left from previous years!! I have also built her bike which she is having for her birthday! Very pleased with myself who needs a man in the house? :rotfl:

honeythief we did the airing cupboard over the hols. We emptied it totally then sorted content into piles. We had 50 teatowels, 39 flannels, goodness knows how many towels and sheets. We have recycled a lot and now have a nice usable airing cupboard with labels for single sheets, doubles etc. It took several hours but is wonderful.

I am looking at probably the same numbers of teatowels and flannels! My brother donated a huge pile of new teatowels to me (long story) but we already had lots and they were all in reasonably good condition. I am not quite sure what to do with them all. Probably should donate the new ones to charity before they get grubby, but I really like them. Decisions, decisions...

I did get rid of a box of sheets and duvet covers recently but they never even made it to the linen closet (as it was already full by the time I found the box in the garage) so I didn't gain any shelf space by doing that. There are probably mismatched pillowcases that can go. I'm at work at the moment but hatching plans to do a big sort-out when I get home this evening!
  • Decluttered the loft in December for the FREE insulation we were given from the energy company we switched to. OH wardrobe HIGH on list for clearing out. All clothes will be bagged and sold to clothing firm- Not good enough for charity shop!!! Then another assault n the loft to thin out the stuff we kept- tools, paint, men stuff!!!!
Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say
    Loving de-cluttering
  • flyingmamma I do washing daily, iron as little as possible, and only iron once a week in front of a good TV programme! I change beds and towels weekly, the rest is clothes.

I have a friend who does her washing all on one day, but I don't think she does as many loads as me _ if I did that, the washing machine would be going for over 9 hours!!
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Good Morning all  - hope we're all managing to keep warm with plenty of decluttering activity to help.

Charity Shop shift for me this morning, so I'll be taking a couple of bags of OH's sorted items BEFORE he can change his mind.

I'm determined not to bring anything back with me this time - apart from a bag of potatoes - so will be keeping away from ASDA. It's just way too easy for me to get side-tracked in there .

Yesterday evening I managed to get my fabric stash back into it's proper plastic crates so that's two large boxes flattened and in the lock-up - discovered a 'forgotten about wool stash' at the same time :o. Also managed to transfer all the Christmas Decorations into another set of plastic crates so that was another large box emptied. At this rate, I'll be putting another advert on Freecycle for the rest of the boxes :j! Gradually the 'food stash' is getting re-located into the kitchen cupboards which should 'free-up' a couple of more crates.

I've also got some smaller boxes with things like 'glassware' in - need to make a start on some more of those. Still searching for my 'everyday cutlery' (using the good matching stuff at the moment) and my two 'kitchen devil knives'. DS1's g/f was helping me to pack the last couple of boxes, but by then we'd given up on marking them with exact details of contents :o.

:T DooLallyDilly, for the offer of trying to match my 'missing curtain end-stop' - I eventually resorted to using clear sellotape either side of an ordinary one and that'll do for now. Works really well and there's only us that know it's there - eventually my OCD may just get the better of me, but it's definitely 'out of sight', so hopefully it will remain 'out of mind' :rotfl:.

The 'summer-weight duvet' has had to come out of it's hiding place to be attached to the spring/autumn one - my bed was so warm last night, that I threw it off at one point - but soon grabbed it back again :rotfl:.

Had the Local Authority around yesterday to exchange all our bins for the 'larger ones' - the smaller ones may have been OK for two 'little old ladies' to share, but definitely no good where I'm concerned. I'm an avid recycler, and a large bin is a 'necessary' - besides which, the insides of the bins were 'manky'. I can't stand dirty, stinky bins - so now we've got lovely clean ones :T.

I've decided that we could do with a set of four plastic drawers - the ones on wheels - for in our hallway. We're forever losing hats / gloves / scarves etc and one of those would be good for keeping them together where they're most needed.

I'll pop back in again later to see how everybody is doing.

Have a great decluttering day and don't forget to keep warm - Lilyplonk xxx
