Well ladies...i have over done it the last few days and today my body just demanded i stay still, didn't wake up til 8:30 and then my friend came over for morning coffee and didn't go home til 2:30, I had to go to sleep for 2 hours after she left
Have decluttered 3 packs of almost empty pasta for dinner tonight0 -
Sorted out some items to take to my sister's:
Pile of children's books (DD sorted some out by herself, good girl she has caught the decluttering bug)
Pile of plastic plates
That leaves some space in the remaining disorganised kitchen cupboard, might have a further go at this tonight.0 -
I need to get rids of lots of "clutter" or "treasured items" that dkids have said they don't want any more. Managed to declutter house of a 3 charity bags since the Xmas hols. Need to keep it up. When you work full time, have family etc how do others keep the momentum going?
Off now to declutter the ironing pile!0 -
While decluttering the linen closet yesterday I found quite a stash of things that don't belong there.
- one pair of curtains that don't fit any of the windows in our house (will send to the charity shop)
- one pair of curtains that don't go with any of the decor in our house (ditto)
- an electric blanket that doesn't fit any bed in our house and still has a UK plug on it (we moved to New Zealand in 2007) - I don't trust this to work properly or safely after being squashed into a cupboard for years, and the charity shops here won't take it anyway as the plug is wrong (although an adaptor would fix that), so I think it should go in the bin. What do you think?
- a stack of at least 30 brand new and unused white flannels. I might repurpose the 20 or so we have in rotation as cleaning rags, and treat us to some new white ones in the bathroom.
- a stack of about 30 tea towels in varying states. The worst will be used as cleaning rags so that takes it down to about 20 in the cupboard. Still too many for a two-person household.
Also found millions of white, off-white, cream, and discoloured sheets and pillow cases and duvet covers - unfortunately the natural light had faded by this stage and I can't tell cream from white under artificial light. That project will be tackled over the weekend when I have more daylight time...0 -

Hellooo everyone
I've not caught up for a couple of days as helping friends to move yesterday.
I did however manage to take a huge bag of stuff to the charity shop & some knitting mags & stickers to a friend
Off to catch up on all the news & bits I've missed.."There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇🥇🥇0 -
Morning - today the decorator starts in the almost totally empty bedroom. I am so excited as in a little under two weeks I will have a restful and clutter free bedroom.
I am even more excited that all the 'kept' stuff from the bedroom which is currently piled behind a living room sofa and upsetting my equilibrium will be relocated to the proper place soon. In fact, if the weather doesn't get too bad, the new wardrobes are being fitted on Monday and Tuesday. :j:j
All I can offer is that the pain of ploughing through and getting rid of 'stuff' is really worth it. I feel so much better because of it.0 -
Managed to do everything on my list yesterday bar the post and recycling, will be getting that done this morning! Also decluttered the kitchen shelves and chucked anything unuseable - I had pink shimmer cupcake decorating stuff that had turned beige due to age!
Also managed to sort out the shoes without encountering any spiders!
Think today I'll mainly be getting the spare room into a usable state, it's turned into a laundry room at the moment and there are piles of clothes everywhere.
I might do the garden as well....the garden furniture is still in several bits after severe winds a few months ago and I really ought to put it back together again. But I know there'll be lots of slugs and bugs under it, so maybe it should be a job for OH!February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.500 -
donnajt yes 50 teatowels but the really sad thing is we were using the top 10 which were old and discoloured and generally mankie. I was considering buying some more. But the sort revealed we had 20 unused teatowels! So they were the ones we kept (now in a drawer in the kitchen just for teatowels) and the other 30 went in the rags recycle.
During my office declutter i came across a book 'how to declutteryour desk' unread. I am now rectifying that and will pass on any good tips ( and CS the book when i've finished it!) Yesterday i read the chapter about the time we spend in the office looking for things  today i'm working at someone else's office all day so decluttering will have to wait till tonight. Looking forward to reading everyone's good works.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
