The photograph albums are a job that I have to do at some point.
I also have a load of loose photos as well - I want to get them at least into some sort of order.
These photos are from my mum and dad and my OH's parents too.
Some of these people in the photos aren't known to us. I have a real problem with throwing a photo of a person away.
A few years ago I bought some old photos at a charity shop, because I couldn't bear the thought of the people in the pictures being 'thrown away'.
However, I've since sold them on eBay, and people are keen to buy them.
I intend trying to sell some of my unknown people on eBay.
All the photos will be a huge project, it'll keep be busy for a while.Early retired - 18th December 2014

well mum kept saying was turkey we had raised!!! hmmmm we only had one!!
but we did have two male goat kids who went in freezer!! I seem to remember my brother and i getting a trip to cinema:A

Ooh, well done Becky for sorting your photos. I did it last year (and blogged about it on my neglected blog!). Only my photos though, not inherited ones. I'm quite tough when decluttering, and all duplicate, blurred, bad and unflattering (to the person in the photo) pictures were binned. So were photos of people I didn't know. If it's any reassurance, the sky didn't fall in. All negatives were binned, as I'd never even looked at them.
I put the photos I kept into new albums, all properly labelled. It was a HUGE job!!Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

ALL my photos have been scanned into the PC and the paper copies disposed off! My Dad's army photos went to his regiment museum which is really nice because they conserve them and also put them on display - not all of course but I assume they rotate exhibits to show particular aspects of the army life.
I have found that having them on the PC and other additional gadgetsmeans that they are looked at more frequently and as they can be enlarged more detail can be seen. Photoshop can be used to get rid of any white marks or other flaws which have happened because of age.
Just some other things less to dust but all the more treasured.
No decluttering happening here today but I am gearing myself up for Tuesday evening!0 -

Have you got any aunt's,uncle's or older cousin's near you? If so why not take the photo's to them and ask if they can tell you who the people are.£71.93/ £180.000 -
That's a good idea, Becky but my elder son, who is disabled, loves to flip through the albums, so I have to keep paper copies.Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Morning everyone,
Not a lot of decluttering has gone on in this house this week due to work.
7 empty sweet tins have been picked up on Freecycle.
A bag of books has gone to the charity shop.
Some clothes have gone to the charity shop.
A box of Christmas chocolates and some crisps have gone to the office at work, and have since all been eaten!
Not a busy weekend so hopefully will get more done today.
Happy decluttering everyone.:)0
