Good morning :hello: all - have we all woken up underneath the same 'white blanket' today? We had a light-dusting before bedtime last night, pretty much the same around 5.00am but it's now snowing again.
Had dgd1 (14) here last night. Her mother thought it a good idea if she came here straight from school yesterday as it's around the corner from me - in case the weather turned bad overnight - so she would be on the doorstep for this morning's journey. Hmmmm - wondering if 'I've been had' :undecided? If the weather is going to be all that bad, she'll have trouble getting back home again . Wonder when I'll get to 'declutter' her ............
This thread has taken off so much again, I'm having trouble keeping up with everybody's postings - can't believe how much impetus the New Year has brought to us all so let's have a big :T:T:T for ourselves .......... and of course, a '27 fling boogie' is also a good way of keeping warm and active in this freezing cold weather .
Special congrats to all who've managed to declutter their children's rooms - getting them to part with 'broken treasures' is a nightmare that I can very well remember from the 'dim n distant past'. I used to try to do it before Christmas with the promise that it would 'make room' for whatever they would be getting off Santa that year ................ even so, I used to be very sneaky about it, and many broken items would 'disappear' during the day while they were at school - naughty of me
. I found that replacing a few broken items with even just a 'second-hand Ladybird book' would be decent compensation
.
I've got a full-day at home today and planning on making a large pan of Split Pea Soup. That will give me lots of time to have another splurge in the back bedroom - a few final boxes to tackle and it'll look fit for 'human habitation'.
I've also spotted an employment agency place along the road from where we now live - Monday morning will see me heading along to find out if they have anything at all suitable for me ............... - I need to start earning asap!
I'll be back later to post some results ................. see you all later, Lilyplonk xxx0 -
Decluttered this morning:
3 toiletries (can't believe how much stuff I had, put me off ever buying any again, think the Grabbit board has a lot to answer for LOL)
2 books
2 toiletry bags
1 glass jug (my Dad collected glass, I have so much of it, don't want to part with most of it but will try to part with the odd bit now and then)
Brandy butter (left over from Christmas and not looking great now)
Folder full of papers (all straight in recycling, notes from classes I've been to, not looked at them in years)
I think I need to try and 'finish' an area, as at the minute just picking up random bits and pieces without actually getting to the end of any particular area. I'll maybe finish the drawers in my dressing table then I should have a definite sense of achievement.0 -
another 37 bags/boxes to recycling out today, plus a pram with raincover, sun parasol and footcover out!Declutter 2025 in 2025 0/20250

Chatamlady - no need to ask - just jump in this is a really really really friendly thread
I think the only way to keep the momentum going is to set yourself small tasks - if I said right Monday night declutter and clean kids rooms, its not going to happen - however if i said - sort through kids wardrobes when they are in the bath - I would get that done - if that makes sense?
Having decluttered the upstairs of my home, I have found it really easy to keep on top of it including housework!!! but they I'm not at work this week
flyingmamma - 9 months pregnant and still at work!!! u should be home nesting x
DundeeDoll - I am also guilty of using the same disgusting teatowels - I have this thing about keeping some teatowels for "best" ????? how stupid is that???? I am going to start decluttering my kitchen today...I have a big bookcase and that is the first thing on my hitlist!
Lilyplonk! I wish I had thought of sending DD to my mum's last night!!! what's a 27 fling boogie??? Good luck with the job hunt x
Well no snow here yet...but its freezing cold and very very grey...not a good day for SAD sufferers like me! Up and out early today as DD had opticians at 9am, when we got there, receptionist had given us the wrong date appointment is actually next week! But walked to doctors and made appointment to see him next weds as agreed....so that's something ticked off my to do list
My list today is as follows:
1. Makes beds, straighten up upstairs, surface clean
2. Make Delia's Mum's Meat Pie
3. Declutter kitchen bookcase
4. Organise new recipes/in empty file
5. Washing if I can find a load0 -
Not much to report here. I did sort out a little pot we keep by the phone, and threw away assorted plastic bits and bobs - no idea what they were, or that they were in there, so they're binned. I relocated buttons into my button jar and paperclips into my paperclip tin, and found some more 20ps for my 20p jar:j
I've got a longish walk in the snow later this morning to get to an appointment, when I get home I hope to:-
- Do the ironing
- Make a shopping list
- Sort out another folder of paperwork and do some shredding.Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

I'm working from home because of the snow and as I'm here hubby feels obliged to do some of the stuff I've been encouraging him to do....which includes decluttering!
When we moved four years ago, I couldn't persuade him to sort things out so a lot of his stuff was just moved - crud and all. It then went into the big shed as we were building the extension. I've set an 8 week period to clear all of this as Dad is away so we can use his living room to sort out and hubby has been finding every excuse he can not to do it but today he's started! Hurrah!
A lot of the hoarded stuff is mine from previous lives so I need to get to grips with that but I'm plodding on doing what I can when I can - I'm getting through it though.
This is a first for me, I've always put off starting things as I've always felt that I couldn't start unless I could finish so the baby steps approach is something that I'm learning.Piglet

been a bit lax with things this week, but tonight I will definitely
*get the washing put away,
*sort one box in the craft cupboard of doom
*give dd's toy box second coat of paint so it can be reloated to her bedroom when dry
*wrap ex's dismantled bed frame in polythene and put in shed (like I told him I had in the hope it would spur him into collecting it - shed is awash with condensation and mold, but that's his lookout)
so that tomorrow I can properly access the loft of [STRIKE]utter carp [/STRIKE]unknown treasures and work out what to bestow on cs/recycling/bin men
oh - i've also started a list on my phone for "things I would like to get if I find a bargain" - none of this is esential, but would be nice to have.
This is to stop me buying lovely things that I happen accross - if it's not on my list, it isn't a bargain.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Thick snow here so not going out. Fire burning & house warm & Beef in Beer defrosting waiting for some dumplings. Going to have a go at my jumper/tops stash & sort into keep/maybe still fits/Ebuy/CS/Freecycle
I'm not quite brave enough for a marathon try on but at least I'll get some decluttering done
Stay warm & safe everyoneSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
