  • Before going to college I've filed all my revision and past exam papers (half way through my exams now!). Also listed a good lot on eBay last night.
An idea If people are decluttering their undies drawers. I'm gonna make my own draught excluder from an old towel and stuff it with old knickers and socks. Noone will know! :p

Going to cinema tonight so decided to do my 13 in the office.
    1) a pen that didn't work very well so threw it away straight off yeah
    2) survey I did in 2007 and have electronically anyway
    3) Advertising blurb for upcoming conferences
    4) certificate of attendance that I don't need
    5) a course I ran which again I have electronically should I ever need to run it again (which is unlikely)
    6) stickers to stick on student work, cept all our students now submit electronically
    7) card games I made for a course I used to teach. They're all a bit dog-eared, and again I have them electronically if I ever need them again
    8) cinema ticket (why am I keeping that?)
    9) conference pack from 2011
    10) questionnaires for study written up (they have to go in shredder)
    11) 3 1/2" disk
    12) cd with out of date software
    13) student masters notes - he graduated 3 years ago.
Also got mum to pick me up from work so I could take 3 bags of books home. We're moving to a shared office and though I trust the people I work with experience tells me that books can accidentally walk. I had already decluttered my book shelves next to my desk and they are all now sorted. Oh so happy.

  • Evening!

Before 6.30 this morning I had dropped off a bag at the CS and put loads of post back through the mail box as they no longer live here :)

I've been applying the same logic at work as well, this bug is catching! Cleaning as I go :)

  • Off to de-clutter my wardrobe! Fed up of finding things in there and thinking 'why the hell did I get that!' Also, I need to get two wardrobes down to one! Hopefully luck will be on my side :)

    Hi all

After having a declutter of my wardrobe last week I had one of those small plastic drawer systems over. Have recycled it into the mop cupboard & it now holds all the various spare lightbulbs - different types in each drawer so less hunting for the right one! AND 10 spotlights bulbs on Freecycle 'cos we no longer have that light fitting - result!! Hmm does this count as my 'lightbulb' moment lol
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Sold 4 items on ebay (3 knitting magazines and some radiator parts!) and they got posted off today :)

How is the quilt coming along loopchriss?
Thank you for asking, I'm getting there: it is a lap quilt that I have backed with a fleece, and am now hand quilting it to attach the fleece to the patchwork top. I am not very good at this! The needles hurt my fingers and I keep getting the fleece part bunched up at the back, but I think I've solved that problem by buying loads of little safety pins to hold it together first. I will get it finished this month - I have something else to finish next month, so I need to get on with it. (Along with all the other unfinished projects in my drawers and cupboards!).

All very exciting - so far today
    1) hymn book returned to vicar
LOL!!! wonder how that got into the house!!!

Only a little bit done the past couple of days. Been concentrating on the quilt and doing a jigsaw. Got another viewer for the house on Saturday so tomorrow will be spent rushing round tidying/cleaning again.

Had a light bulb moment today: was in town, haunting Poundland and the 99p shop as per usual. Suddenly realised what a lot of c**p most of it was, apart from some foody bits and a couple of other useful things, most of which I used to buy 'just in case it came in handy'. So... result was less money spent and fewer things to find homes for! I was very selective in what I bought, only things I needed. Also had a pootle around a couple of charity shops, looking at all the unwanted Christmas presents that had been donated. I managed to resist all of those too, so I'm getting there; and - it's so liberating not buying stuff!!

Only a couple of bits decluttered here though...

92/94 3 charity collecting tins emptied, money counted and bagged.
95 Loads of plastic carrier bags taken to charity shop for them to use
96 Pencil case with broken zip - binned

Urghhhh, only 4 more to find for the 100... will have to go and have a root around in the kitchen while I'm clearing up after dinner....

PS One thing I did have to buy today was a DUSTER...!!! Only had 1 in the house, can't think what's happened to the others! Didn't want 15 of them so resisted buying a pack of cheap ones, and went for 1 microfibre one instead. Suppose I'd better test it out.....

likklegibbon - WOW! have you got any clothes left???

MummyEm - I love having those cheeky clearouts - did you get caught? i got caught throwing a kinder egg toy once and omg DD still talks about it 3 years later lol!

hannerbabes, so sorry to hear you were burgled, I can't think of anything worse than someone breaking into your home

ziggy2407 - don't be draft everyone is welcome here - its such a friendly thread x

you are welcome mealallmine, I used to be terribly houseproud (probably a bit too houseproud and more OCD if I am honest) - when there was just the three of us (me, DH and DD) - I have suffered officially with depression since 2003, the main factor was we were faced with not being able to have any more children, in 2008, I found myself pregnant...what a miracle - was overjoyed for about 2 weeks and then panic and fear set in - had the worst 9 months of my life - terrible pregnancy, in and out of hospital and basically couldn't lift a finger...being houseproud went out of the window.
I work 3 days a week and I dont for a minute expect any of the rooms in my house to stay as lovely and uncluttered as they are for long

houses are homes not museums, I intend to do a bit a day to try and keep on top of things and I will be making DH and kids do a bit more

flyingmamma - I don't think you are mad buying a new buggy - I have had loads of prams/3 wheelers and buggies for both my kids, they are in constant use so don't feel bad
well done on your clearing out - how are you finding project 333? i actually put my first outfit together today...

DundeeDoll - I didn't know that was the toothbrush way but that is exactly how I do it - keep, throw, don't know - and then 6 months down the line if i haven't used/worn it it can go to throw pile, glad you have found a system that works

welldone mummybear3 - did you know that you can melt down old broken crayons in the oven and make multi-coloured ones? I have been wanting to try it for ages but keep throwing them away lol!

Honeythief - I know all about linen cupboards - I found a brand new set of white towels bought in 2003 all forgotten about...there were 6 towels sets stuffed on top...i now have three towels bales - the rest have gone!

    DundeeDoll...50 teatowels!!!

welcome PolkaDotsAndLace...if you figure out how to deal with an uncooperative husband please let me know lol! I must admit my husband is a hoarder but i just remove items one at at time and have never been caught! Good luck with those spiders...

Good luck yukkibear...look forward to hearing what 5 items you got rid of

    Way to go BlackSavings

loopychriss - your quilt sounds lovely ... u must be a very patient lady - quilt making is a hobby i intend to take up once my youngest is a bit boy and i haven't got to entertain him for every waking moment...hope you are able to share a picture when its finished
