Thanks tattooed that's very kind of you :) I know how hard it is and if you just try a little bit you can make a difference. Well done on your decluttering :)

I salute you purple! My room of doom is in a similar way. But we can do this right? We will get these rooms back! I once saw a hoarders programme about working how much of your house you can't currently use. That puts things in perspective.

Hello everyone else :j don't beat yourself up if you've had no time to declutter. Maybe try a bit when the kettle is boiling. Or delete some emails or photos during your train journey. Maybe even declutter your desk at work.

I haven't posted here for a little while but I've been trying to do a bit if decluttering. Today it was just a drawer - now empty ready for me to put my office supplies in so I know where they all are instead if spending ages trying to find a hole punch everytime I want to file some papers!
    Trying to keep in budget.

everyone is doing so well :) it's getting quite addictive this decluttering malarky. we will reclaim our homes :)

off with sick dd today so did things she could help with (she's 4): so we sorted out my (:owell some of my) sewing paraphenalia: ribbons, bobbins, buttons threads, embroidery silks etc. they were all mixed together over 5 sewing boxes and are now grouped together so all ribbons are detangled and in a bag together etc. Got rid of a number of obselete bits, and condensed to 3 ordered sewing boxes.

soted out shelves (all 2 of them) in airing cupboard. Summer curtains are washed, dried and folded onto top shelf (thanks to an idea from the hording thread wher I lurk), towels on the bottom, and the tiny towels (baby towels) are out - I do use these but need to get rid of some and think of a way to store them where they are needed (drying eyes during energetic bath times etc).

2 bags taken out of my wardrobe for cs and 2 old coats of ds's - need to get all this stuff to the cs though - both my car and the front door are bulging with things to go.

Christmas tree should be collected by council tomorrow and bins are out.

on organising/doing front have fond a crewel work during sewing sort out, framed and hung along with another picture, and started painting the pine toy box in the lounge pink so that dd will have it in her bedroom (trying to reclaim the lounge!). Have also felted a jumper I shrank and have started to turn it into a laptop case.
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)
  • I started today!
I sorted through my 2 boxes of items to ebay and photographed everything ready to list tomorrow. Also sorted to carrier bags from them for the charity shop. (Sadly the one my mum volunteers in, and I used to, is too far away to donate to but I wish I could donate to them as they've been burgled twice since november! :( )
I also sorted through my packaging bag that i use to send ebay things.
And found lots more stuff to ebay/amazon.
Well done people! and good night:D
  • Right here goes: for 365 things by end of 2013

1....decluttered my hotmail of 3000 unread messages

2.... set up new rules on hotmail to stop this happening again

3.... decluttered a cardboard box of contaminated sharps into proper sharps bin ready to take to Dr's tomorrow

I have been decluttering with flylady thread since Oct, but I want this to be over and above the usual day to day stuff, so it gradually makes a difference

I will check in again tomorrow to report the missing gibble :D
The cold never bothered me anyway

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to store postcards? I collect them and they're just wasting away in a plastic bag.

get one of those multi hole photo frames and make them into pictures? If you have a coffee table, get a glass top cut for it and display the card beneath the glass - great talking point.

Get some clear varnish and some old table mats and recover with postcards then seal with varnish?

Use them to cover a box for storage?

    Umm....

  • Purplevamp, I LOVE your picture bc it is just what my ( and my ds) bedrooms are like. I have been working so hard since Xmas and have done the bathroom completely and most of my room. It looks so good that I am beginning to resent work bc it is getting in my way of decluttering!!
  • Suzeesu just seen you are in the iow too. Snap!

    Hi all

Hannerrbabes - I am shocked that someone would burgle a charity shop - they must either be really low (or maybe just very desperate and needy). What a shame!

Maybe if any of the declutter-bugs on the board are nearby we could make them a target shop and drop loads of lovely things into them.

  • Items 7-13 are old work clothes I haven't worn for about 11 years, mercifully (and belatedly - she wasn't born last time I wore them!) removed from my daughter's wardrobe and put in the bag for school's charity clothes recycling.
