  • I know this will have been done thousands of times, but I'm currently sat with a glass of wine flicking through my stack of magazines that have been collecting dust over the past few weeks, cutting out articles/menus that I want to try and putting them in a lovely menu folder :)

The magazines will then go in the paper recycling box :)

16 pairs of old shoes gone forever, along with all the dust and cat fur they'd collected over the years. Man I love my Henry :)

You'll get there bubble with your dining table. Just keep chipping away. I'd pester said son to help even if its to run the hoover underneath or dust it! Keep going :j

Just resurfaced from a couple of hours in the bedroom. I was getting very fed up with stuff on the floor in front of the wardrobe. Plus some storage boxes arrived from Lakeland today to spur me into action!

    Decluttered:
1.2. Boots. Both unused. I don't have room to store them and I don't wear them.
    3. Vegetarian supplement
    4.5.6. Packaging
    7. Cosmetic bag
    8. Packaging
    9. Bag of rubbish
10.-20. Hair accessories and clips to CS
    21.22.23. Decorative tins to CS
    24. Book
    25.26.27. Buttons/brooches to CS
    28.29.30 Old birthday cards
    31. Packaging
    32. Belt

So I'll add that lot to my tally :j Bedroom now looks much better. Some stuff went into boxes that will need sorting out later but at least it's off the floor.

Amazing the effect of a tidy kitchen. Just had our meal and I went straight out and washed the dishes instead of leaving them till tomorrow. I am really starting to think that this year might be when I finally crack it :j

I'm not sure why I joined this thread as I don't seem to do much decluttering :o

Anyway, today I have managed to:-
    • Sort out DS1's wardrobe
    • bin a mattress protector, totally unusable
    • bin a mouldy over-the-shoulder manbag :rotfl:
    • decluttered about 3 hours of Sky+ recordings
    • put 7 dvds on Amazon
    • give back tupperware box to my Mum
My Mum came round today and she brought me:-
    • 2 new pillows
    • a new bed sheets for DD
    • spare boxed xmas cards
    • whole carrier bag of bubble bath, etc
The mattress I was going to throw away last week never made it out the front door and has been swapped around with DS2's mattress

DH went shopping today and has bought loads of tins of soup incase we get snowed in!!! If this happens it means I can't get to work (:j, err I mean :rotfl:) so I'll have no excuse not to tidy the house.

On the plus side though my Mum did comment on how tidy my front room was. :T She said she was going to lend me a Life Laundry book but I told her I had both of them, but couldn't find them

I did this ages ago too. I then wondered what to do with all the saved bits? Had a nice hard backed A4 book so I copied all the recipes out into that, they don't fall out and are all in one place, plus when I have tried them, I can write comments on the page regarding adjustments or changes I want to try or how it turned out.

For the craft bits, I cut the pieces out neatly and then stuck them to a piece of card or stiff paper (magazine or newspaper tears so easily). Then I hole punch them and store in a loose leaf binder, nice and neat and easy to add to.

Just an idea I find works for me.:)

I love this thread - it always inspires me to just get on with doing it!

2 kitchen drawers full of bits and bobs: majority are now gone and just the things I use left in there (what a concept!)

paperwork pared down to the bone: 2 bags of bills and payslips ready for shredding.

has liberated about 40 plastic wallets and five lever arch files.

Much of this is in mental preparation for the real areas of doom (would be marked "here be dragons" on a map of my house) the loft, my wardrobe, the cupboard under the stairs, the larder and the craft cupboard in the kitchen....

I'm hoping that I'll be an expert by the time I've got nothing left to declutter elsewhere and am forced to tackle these.
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)
  • Night shifts are finally over and my cold is almost gone so tomo (today really but I count as tomo as I haven't been to sleep yet) I can start doing this properly. Managed to do a few bits during the week to make a bit of a start
3 Bags of tissues and the empty boxes
The pile of recycling that was threatening to take over the kitchen
4 Magazines that I read and copied recipes out of
1 carrier bag full of old undies and laddered tights to bin and a few pairs still with labels and never worn to go on ebay

Need to find out which charity it was that was taking slightly worn bras to send to countries like Africa as have a few I've only worn once or twice but don't fit quite right anymore

Tomo shall be bathroom and toiletries day I think as I could probably start up my own boots!! Gonna keep all the shower gels as means I shouldn't need to buy any for at least 6 months but I've got more moisturiser than I could EVER get through so that can go in the car boot box. Seem to have lots of empty makeup containers though and no idea why, so they'll be for the bin.

Right, that's the plan, hopefully now I've put it on here I can stick to it! Time for bed now though zzzzzz
  • plan today is

    finish of underwear drawers
    cupboard understairs
    under sink cupboard

    will post progress report later

have been using quite a lot of odd bits in bathroom so that is looking less cluttering

getting there slowly but surely its so good to get in the wardrobes and see what there is

keep up the good work everyone
You can if you think you can .
