Well I have had a productive afternoon (to make up for the fact I was bone idle and stayed in/around bed until midday!). Bottom floor and Top floor hoovered and dusted, middle floor skipped as it is not really in use atm- no visitors this week. I did battle with my bedside set of drawers, which involved some contortionism (? spelling) due not being able to remove the drawers from the unit and some random rubbish/magazines being stuck where they shouldn't be. Anyways, after some (ok a lot!) of cursing, that little cabinet is sorted for the moment but will require some further attention in the future.
I sorted out my collection of 6 wicker baskets in the bathroom, and have ascertained that I probably do not need to buy any toiletries (other than potentially shower gel) for the next 12 months! 1 more basket of stuff to go through. and a few bags of rubbish binned. I may rehome/ regift some of the posh-ish unused toiletries. I still have all my clothes to go through - and frankly its overwhelming, no idea where to start, I might continue to try 1 drawer at a time, and then 1 bit of the wardrobe at a time. I started antidepressants 2 months ago, and they have helped somewhat in that the house IS cleaner and at least superficially tidier than it was, but it is just such a huge mammoth ongoing task its the constant battle between thinking/knowing something HAS to be done versus acquiring the motivation to actually do it!
I may not post very often but I am following the thread and taking inspiration from you all! Thank you!:TDecluttering 2013 challenge. GC Jan 2013:£100 spend/£240. 20p Challenge 2013. 50p Challenge. £365 in 365 days. I WILL Mealplan and not change my mind!0 -
Everyone's decluttering up a storm!
Yesterday I managed to finish my job application - yay! And when I cleared out the car as it was going for its MOT and service, I found another in-car phone gizmo (from about 7 years ago) - now binned!
Every time I read this thread it makes me look around to find at least one thing to declutter - can't see anything right this minute, but I must find at least one thing today!Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Morning :j
As part of decluttering I have pared my clothes down a lot. When I bought some new black velveteen hangers from home bargains I didn't need too many packs of 10. I have too many coats though!
When I read about project 333, I culled some cutlery. Donated to cs shop as they sell odd cutlery.
So far today decluttered:
1.2. Old socks
I have to be a bit more ruthless. Certain rooms are now not that bad. Eg bathroom, living room, hall. So I must focus on the upstairs rooms now.
Who's up for a burst of decluttering for 5/10/15 minutes? :jDeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Today's plan of action...
MASTER BEDROOM / PROJECT 333

Good Morning all and Well Done on progress so far this year :T!
Love the way that we're increasing the workload for the guys down at the Recycling Units - hope 'somebody' is monitoring what they do so that they can prove the need for their jobs. Let's continue to keep 'em in full-time employment, folks :j.
We're no longer playing 'Tetris' in the spare bedroom - I managed to 'pin myself' into a corner last week :rotfl: - another three good size boxes of books were emptied yesterday evening and all are now safely back neatly in their rightful places on bookshelves with largest/heaviest on the bottom shelves for better stability. Have made a note (another list!) for the 'wall connections' to be done when No.2 son visits with his drill!
We've freed up two large plastic containers with 'crocodile lids' - so my fabric stash can now come back out of the cardboard boxes that I had to transfer them into. Those plastic containers were bought specifically for the fabrics - so I could see what's in them.
Fingers crossed for response to the Freecycle 'OFFER' about the packing boxes.
Got OH to 'cull' some of his clothes - he'd been 'hiding' the number of shirts by putting three/four on each coat hanger - why did he feel the need for ten check shirts :undecided? He originally gave me 2 pairs of jeans and swore those were all he had - oh yeah, I've heard that one before! By the time we'd gone through the bags with his clothes in, he'd found another 6 pairs plus the pair he was wearing - even he had the decency to appear embarassingly surprised! All are now neatly hung on 2 of those 'huggable trouser hangers'
. ............ I have yet to 'force the issue' on T-shirts/long-sleeve tops - including all the various 'souvenir ones', that he never wears, from Rock Concerts that he's been to over the years, but tomorrow IS another day ..............
.
Need to dive deep into the freezer to find something to feed dgs 2 and 3 with this evening - think I've got some Turkey (or were they Pork :undecided) Meatballs hiding somewhere. Should go down well with pasta, sauce and garlic bread . I'll stick to a salad with some Boiled Ham and pinch a bit of the garlic bread to go with it. That'll help to get rid of some of the freezer contents :T.
Happy Decluttering to everybody and extra specialto anybody who's feeling the January Blues at this time of year.
I'll pop back in again later - if I can get near the PC once 'Dylan The Villain' arrives - love Lilyplonk xxx0 -
Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything
Somehow this song is running around my head. :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

TheDoolallyDilly, we bought ours in HomeSense last year and they have been brilliant. We got 2 one for the hallway and one for the bathroom which hasn't got rusty yet. Good luck in finding one
Lilyplonk, welcome back after your move.No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j0 -
Hi everyone, so impressed with the way you've all kept at it! I have not done much this week as I have had a lot on at work, however the load of stuff I bagged up for the CS earlier in the week was dropped off yesterday on my home so i can now open the boot without the risk of an avalanche:D
I am determined to do a bit today. I have tackled the coats in the utility room. Couldn't get rid of anything but at least now the coats we use day to day are on the hooks and all the others that had ended up there are hung in the right wardrobes. You can close the utility room door now:o Also found two old Next Directories (which I don't get so goodness knows who I borrowed them from). As they were from 2011:eek: I recycled them.
Today I am going to do the toiletries cupboard and under our bed. DH is doing his clothes (although he doesn't know yet!)
Have a good day everyone
