Sorted out 2 table lamps surplus to requirements for hospice CS - though I won't be able to get there till next Saturday :(

    Christmas TV guide to recycling

About to recycle 4 black bananas into a cake.

Eyeing the huge number of books that I constantly accumulate... time for some to go back to the CS from which (most of them) came, I think.

Oooooh so glad I found this thread! Lots of kindred decluttering spirits here :) I started decluttering last year and made massive headway, my house looks and feels better and I'm much less stressed out. Will check back here for inspiration and to share progress, I've found that decluttering isn't an event it's a loooong process that you can't ever stop or the clutter monster rears it's ugly head again!

Made 1 trip to the charity shop already this year after a post-Christmas sweep of the house, all the decorations are neatly packed away and I've got a box of items that are OK to 'regift', labelled up so as to avoid any potential regifting embarrassments!

Got a few things to put on ebay so will make that my goal for this week.

    Happy decluttering everyone!

My 10 (+) items for today:

    3 coats
5 old atlases (had to persuade my OH that if we ever did do a driving holiday in France, would need an atlas newer than 1999)
    3 toys
    Picture
    China doll

These and other items from this week have all now gone to the charity shop, time to start filling the hall up again I think.

DS1 has decided that he's a big boy now and has moved out :(. He's 21 so he's an adult and can decide for himself. This means that DS2 can now have his own room and DD gets the big room all to herself, which she's very pleased about. It makes sense as she has a huge mountain of toys that she can't bear to part with ~ believe me, I've tried ;).

So today DH and I sorted out DS1's room.

    Out went:-

    • Huge pile of paper
    • Old pc speakers, broken
    • 3 craft knife blades (he does a lot of model making)
    • sleeping bag
    • tray from a tool box-type thing
    • countless crisp bags
    • a ton of dust from under the bed
    • Games Workshop 2005 calendar
    • Dr Who 2008 calendar
    • Baking tray ???
    In the attic we put:-
    • uni coursework portfolio
    • Pokemon cards in huge lever arch binder
    • big bag of cuddly toys :p
There was other stuff but I've already forgotten what they were!!!

DS2 is back at school tomorrow but DD has an inset day, so I've got the day off :j. I'll try to sort some things out then.

Yesterday the 2 youngest ones sorted out their t-shirts and found about 14 between them, a couple are good enough for ebay but the rest are in a bag for the clothes bin.

Xmas decs went back in the attic today so that's one less thing cluttering up the house.

I really need to sort out my bedroom as I need a new bed but want it in a different part of the room. Until the toot is sorted there's no chance of getting one. I have at least 28 boxes in my room, most of these are about 15" and I cannot get to my wardrobe so I have piles of clothes stacked up on top of them.

My declutter start. Though tbh am just procrastinating as don't want to start lesson planning!
    1. old cat scratch pad thrown out
    2. 6 DVDs listed on amazon*

    woop woop.:T
One of my dvds has already sold on amazon! it was a pricey one too, so after charges and postage etc I reckon I'll get about £13. NOw to decide whether to put that in my ISA or throw at mortgage!

More trips to the dump and CS today - where does it all come from? I'm half convinced that when I'm out a work some kind of gremlin activity takes place. :rotfl::rotfl:

The old green rug which my mother made has now gone. In the dump. Done it! :j I can't hang onto it for sentimental reasons so cut the emotional thread.

Took about 10 assorted mugs to the CS, a cotton rug and an unused box of christmas crackers from two years ago.

Moving forward each day. The bedroom needs to be totally empty by 18 January and won't be furnished again until 05 February so spare futon couch here we come.

    TO DO:
    • Food cupboards and freezer - actually use stuff before buying
    • Under-stairs cupboard
    • Cleaning cupboard
    • Shed (hubby's job)
    • DVDs

Well in addition to sorting the cleaning cupboard out on Friday, I've now done the food cupboards - so much out of date stuff thrown out and space on the shelf now for baby milk etc ready for April :j
Tea tonight is from the freezer so we're starting to use stuff out of there. Had an online grocery shop delivered today and deliberately didn't order any freezer stuff, will do a proper freezer inventory this week.

Just the under stairs cupboard, DVDs and the shed left from the list. I'll tackle the under stairs cupboard this week and leave hubby to sort the shed out when the weather's better. No rush on DVDs as they're neatly organised in the sideboard in the living room so it's just as and when I can be bothered to see if I can "cull" any in ebay's direction!;)

Am really enjoying this - think my decluttering efforts are being helped significantly by my "nesting" urges but not complaining :T
