Not done a huge amount today.

Cleared out the junk drawer in the kitchen, it is very narrow but quite long, and is one of those places that you put things cos you don't know where they go - odd screws, plug socket covers, coat hooks, batteries, spare keys etc.

Well from a draw that didn't close properly I have managed to chuck most of the contents of it, and what was left but neatly into 2 small baskets inside the drawer, and as there was space to spare, I know have a home for my oven gloves.

I am determined that this draw will not become full of tat again.

I also did a freezer inventory and threw out some rolls that had freezer burn on them, and some escaped veg right at the bottom.

Also sorted out 2 more drawers in my DS2 room, and have more clothes for the recycling centre.

Also took my unwanted Christmas cards to the SM for recycling.

I'm back at work tomorrow so not sure how much I'll get done this week, but intend to carry on with my quest for a clutter free house.
2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.
It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,000

  • Under the stairs and bedside cabinet done!

  • Well done everybody, love reading this thread it keeps me going!

Ventured into DS1's room today. Urgh, 3 bin bags of rubbish and a mountain of washing that didn't even fit in the bathroom. And that hasn't even made a dent in it, double urgh.

Sorted out kitchen baking cupboard, dropped loads of flour which took forever to clean up!

    Keep going everyone :D

Ah, now you're asking!!! I've forgotten, so have to go and look it up!!!

I belong to the Preparedness for when the SHTF forum https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4065593, and it stands for 'conspiracy researchers and preppers really oldstyle loonies living zombie challenge'

It's a forum about prepping for disasters and the end of the world, although for most people it is about being prepared for winter, getting caught out in snowstorms, redundancy, etc. and not the zombie invasion. A lot of it has been tongue-in-cheek, but it's good fun. I make lists for everything, that's why I've got that particular tag.

    Nothing in :)
Out-about 40 Lego kits a volunteer took (I run a charity from my bedroom), some general rubbish, a bag and some drugs. I feel so guilty throwing so many tablets away (I had many months supply and then became allergic to them), I tried to find a charity but they only wanted some and I need to get them out. I have tons of boxes of paracetamol too. I don't want to keep them all to space but seems a shame to bin, I don't want to freecycle them incase someone Ods!

  • Had a bit of a slow and lazy day today - well, it is Sunday, day of rest!!! - so only managed to tidy a couple of drawers. I also counted 2 collecting tins and sorted and bagged up all the money, updated the accounts of my grandson's fund, and took up the hems on a pair of his trousers. Also wrote out thank you cards and receipts for the collecting tins and some donations we received. So I've not been totally idle...!

    45. 2 collecting tins emptied, money counted and sorted. Taking to put in account tomorrow
    46. Plastic cover for sewing machine - charity shop bag
    47. Pair of school trousers taken up and will be given to daughter tomorrow
    48. Loads off a roll of chicken wire used to bung up any entry holes for squirrels in the loft

We've got a mini TV that I used to use in my craft room, but it had a rubbish picture and wasn't much use. It hasn't been used for well over a year and has just been sitting on the chest of drawers. I actually sorted out the aerial, remote and other bits to it yesterday, and said to hubby could it go. So it's been sitting in our bedroom since then. I just asked if I could put it in the charity bag and he's said "don't be too hasty, it cost over £100..... put it in the loft!!!"
And I thought I was making progress with him...!!!

(Think I'll just stick it back in a drawer and dispose of it in a couple of months when he's forgotten about it!)

I feel really motivated after reading the thread.
Had a good declutter today - re laimed a basket that was 95% full of stuff the got thrown in the bin.
I've found a big plastic box that is now 'boot sale box', basically everything that I don't want but someobe might. I'll do a sale at some point and then after that everything can go to the CS. I don't mind waiting to clear it so long as the stuff is in the box and the box is tidily stored.
    Trying to keep in budget.

  • So...no further forward with the dining table/room but the nagging from DS continues so it will get done eventually.

Today I took down all the Xmas decorations and tree so am pleased there is a bit more room in my living room again.

Decided to have a wee spring clean of teenage dd's room with a tiny bit of 'help' from her. She is old enough to do it herself but its got a bit out of control so thought I should at least give her a bit of a start to it. Went through all the clothes in her drawers so have a wee pile for CS. Tidied up the floor which was a task and a half, she has a launder basket but 3/4 seems to land on the floor next to it! So she's had a telling off for that, there's no excuse and she is more than able to take her washing to the machine to do it.

Looks like we will rearrange her room a little bit, it's not very big but it's quite clear she is pretty bored with it the way it is. Maybe if we change it round that will encourage her to keep it tidier.

Ds's room is on a far worse scale than dd's so that will be tackled at a later date as he will probably insist the dining room is done first. Fair enough.

So declutter end today/got rid of
2:eek: bags of rubbish from dd's room
1 old outgrown pair of trainers
Old make up from her make up box.
I small bag of clothes destined for the CS.

    Quite pleased with that :j
