Had a good day decluttering yesterday - 5 pairs of shoes/boots in the bag to be taken to the recycling place, and some of the kids socks and pants that now longer fit.

Sorted out one of the kitchen drawers which now looks cleaner and less cluttered, and managed to sort some stuff to car boot from the drawer.

Took down all the Christmas decs and tree yesterday, and just got to put them up in the loft. Cleaned and tidied the front room, so it is back to normal now. Not sure how long it will stay like that with the kids though.

Sorting some of the kids clothes out today to recycle, and will get a couple of bags down from the loft to go as well.
2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.
It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,000

I found an American blog called My Simpler Life and it has a declutter calendar :D There are suggestions for small tasks and I am hoping it will help my clear things in a manageable way.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • Broken Christmas decoration in the bin, its been hanging around for 3 years trying to get a bulb to make it work, but it would appear to be impossible so enough is enough.

Dressing gown in the bin cause its way past it.

5 tops and a skort in the charity bag which will be picked up from the door on Monday, mission is to fill it by then.

Papers and craft bits from my daughter's desk
Will list 3 nail varnishes on ebay

Also got a pair of crutches to return to the hospital

Just about got my head around the Kindle (birthday present) and have downloaded a free book on de-cluttering. To be honest, I know what to do - I just need to do it!

Have thrown a few things out, put some stuff in the loft and have been very good about not bringing more stuff home (despite Christmas and birthday money and the sales)!

Hope you all have a good de-cluttering day! :)

As you see, the calendar is for 2011, but the dates are the same every year! I tried this and, although a good motivator, found it a bit too faffy (technical term). I think the best thing of it is that you can easily adapt it to suit you. :)

    Have fun!

  • So far I've given a dress to a friend, but she gave me a bottle of perfume she didn't like (and I do!) in return. Still, they cancel each other out!

Had a better day today thank goodness. DS had done his desk and toy box and has removed all rubbish and things that are broken. DD has sorted out her room and has got rid of a bag of rubbish and three cushions which are a bit babyish so they are in the CS bag. I have cut up all the grotty tea towels into cleaning clothes and replaced with some nice new ones. I have also filled another CS bin liner with clothes and shoes. A king size duvet that i was given and have never used will be joining them.

My final job for the day was the shoe box:eek::eek: All out grown trainers and shoes removed, old shoes that we 'might use for gardening' binned, football boots cleaned and 'in use' trainers washed and drying by the fire. Also pulled shoe box out and hoovered behind it. Glad nobody else saw what was lurking there:o

Going to have a nice cup of coffee while i watch the last episode of Restless.

    Happy decluttering :)

Oooh, I think this is good - I like the way she allocates a month for decluttering a room/area, then a month for organising it. Also, I noticed in July she has you decluttering your email inbox - I really need to do this :o I know it's only 'virtual 'clutter, but because I don't like clutter of any sort, it makes me feel sort of cross!
