  • Loving this thread! Well done everyone!

9 more items decluttered here :D

    Tackled the cupboard full of carp in the kitchen and chucked;

    disposable plastic cutlery,
    wooden skewers,
    plastic shot glasses,
    old manky earphones,
    obsolete instruction manuals and warranties

    Put into CS bag;

    Quirky party picks,
    Shrek toy,
    Wall pocket vase,
Brand new pack of wedding confetti that must have been there for 4 years......shows you when the cupboard was last cleaned out.

There's a manky old George Foreman grill in there which hasn't been used for at least 2 years and whose flex has been repaired a few times with electrical tape. I can't stand the flipping thing but DH refuses to chuck it out.

And then moans that the house is cluttered......ARGH! *pulls hair out*

We had a Forge Georman that we hadn't used in ages, in the end we took it to the tip as it was too much hassle to clean it.

I took the decorations down today :(. Some of the lights on the tree weren't working but I've managed to find them and fix them for next year :j. I threw out a broken wooden xmas ornament and some crackers went in the recycling ~ they only had a paper hat in them and were crushed beyond recognition.

I came home from work today to find a huge box containing some Disney goodies I won :j, and sorted out the rest of the post straight away by recycling the toot I didn't want.

I've asked DS2 and DD to find 13 items of clothes that no longer fit them, DD should have no problems as she has loads of clothes and I bought her a couple of items in the sales today as replacements. :o

I also bought 6 rolls of wrapping paper (£1 for all 6) and most of the family christmas cards for next year, saving me loads of money. So more in than out today but tomorrow is a new day ;)

Forgot to add I threw an old broken bangle and pringles lid out today too!!!

  • Just chucked a load of necklaces I haven't worn in a few years to sell on ebay, listing at 99p, need money for my emigration/moving out fund. Also filled a bin bag full of jumpers (in good condition), a mug tree that i had been using to store the aforementioned necklaces - all these things were hidden out of sight and that's my trouble, I forget about these things, I found a few more hair bows that i can wear again that are much nicer than the horrid stuff in the shops atm :)

Also put 3 cds in the bag for oxfam, a pair of clarks shoes that i got in the sale but weren't very hard wearing (still in v good condition, wore them for the best part of a month).

also chucked a box full of nail polish I hadn't worn in 3 years in the bin... felt bad about that in terms of recycling. Found some make-up sachets that I've moved to the bathroom cupboard so i've more chance of seeing them and using them.

Took 5 empty shoe boxes out of my wardrobe, there's still loads in there. Charity shops would take these too right?

also have a couple of pairs of well worn slippers and shoes that i don't know what to with besides throwing in the bin. can CS use them for the rag collection?

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do with some old but newish bras? All in fab condition. i wouldn't be one to go rooting in the bra bins at charity shops, i don't think a lot of people would so is there any charity i can donate to?

I think they might, if not you can always put them in the recycling.

You could always try selling them on ebay. Put "private shoes" in the search and you'll be surprised at what state of shoes come up. They're bought by people with a certain fetish

My biggest regret right now is not taking a "before" photo. I didn't think of it until the declutter was well under way. Oh well, my memory will have to suffice.

I wish I'd done that too, especially in the bedrooms as they were the worst, but I didn't think of it until I'd got rid of quite a lot of stuff. I did do before and after pics of the 'cupboard of doom' when I first did a proper declutter in there. It's not quite as clear now as it was when I finished, but I don't think it will ever be as bad as it was!
A 2011 diary, why did I still have that ?

I've recently got rid of much older ones, lol, I think I still have one from 2001, which was the year my mum died.

It always seems to be me that uses up the last of everything

It's the same in our house, especially toothpaste, as OH will be ready to bin the tube because he can't (be bothered to) squeeze the tube enough to get any out. I'm still using the old one for at least a week or two after he starts the new one! And he's always putting washing up liquid bottles in the recycling box, when there's still enough for at least a couple of wash loads if you put a drop of water in the bottle!

Thanks mineallmine for your kind words re the loss of my MIL's partner.

I couldn't believe that since I last posted on here there have been another 14 pages of posts, you are all doing so well and putting me to shame, lol! I've caught up on 8 pages, and will catch up on the rest tomorrow. Welcome to all the newbies and good luck!

Still not done too much, but I've finally used the last of a pack of moisture absorber crystals, emptied the last of a large bottle of bubble bath into a pump dispenser and put the bottle into recycling. Also I will be binning a plate rack tomorrow, it collapsed the other night while we were in bed, and frightened the life out of me and OH when we heard the crash, lol, luckily no plates were broken! I have had the rack for about 28 years, and I think it only cost about £3, so I guess I got my money’s worth from it!

Yesterday morning before work, I went through the drawer in the lounge unit (aka drawer of doom), where I’d chucked a load of things before Christmas to hide them out of the way, I put a pile of paperwork into recycling, I've got a few bits to shred and some to file tomorrow, also binned a plastic wallet and a few other bits of random carp! Also found an envelope with £50 birthday money in it that I'd forgotten about, so that was a nice bonus, and I've put it with the other £50 that MIL gave me for Christmas until I decide what to get with it.

Also I forgot to mention in my last post, that I went through the box of gift tags, made from old Christmas cards, and got rid of quite a few as we had so many they would last us for years, I don't think I'll bother making any this year. Will be taking the decs and tree down over the weekend, and then I can get back into some serious decluttering! Sorry for the long post!

I was just saying I need to have a de-clutter next week, and found your thread! I have a room in a house-share, and it's starting to overflow! I'm going to go through a drawer a night next week, just a little bit at a time... I'd like to try and sell some of it, and will put things in a box to list on fleebay. I'm concerned lots of people will be de-cluttering atm, meaning less chance of selling my stuff how have you all been getting on with selling? Is it a good time?

Have begum decluttering my craft papers. So many scraps! Have just recently purchased a Big Shot die cutter and using some dies i am managing to make die cut shapes with the papers and then throw the remaining scraps away. It will take a long time, but i am enjoying it. Also i am repurposing christmas cards. Have made lots of gift tags, but have also die cut lots of the lovely card embellishments and sentiments on many of the shop bout cards.

    Morning everyone,

The only thing that I managed to declutter yesterday was a box of chocolates to my friend's house!
They were very gratefully received though.:D

I must do better today, I am back to work on monday and then there will be a lot less time for decluttering.

I have got requests for the things that I put on freegle but won't count them till they are gone.

    Happy decluttering everyone.:)

Well the Christmas tree has been de-cluttered and DH has dragged it up to the hedge at the back of the garden to mulch down with last years. 1 more thing to add to my list of de-cluttered items.

I cleared up the last bits of Christmas yesterday. I bought myself a Henry hoover this morning; I have to clear the pantry so he has somewhere to live :)
