cashbackqueen if you join the NCT you can sell stufff at their Nearly New sales, it's a good way of getting rid of maternity clothes, baby stuff and toys.

Great, thanks for the tip, will defo give that a go! - how/where do I join?

  • Taking old microwave to new home today.. got given a really posh one just before Xmas so put little one in loft, found someone who was in need & have given for free :) It's a double good feeling, more going out & to help another at the same time..

You don't need to join the NCT in order to sell at their sales. At least, not the 4 /5 branches local to me. Non members can sell too, but members tend to get early entry into their sales. Check their website I think it is nct.org.uk or something along those lines. You can search for your nearest branch/sale.

    yesterday:

went through half of the bath toys and threw the horrible/broken ones
    recycled 12 padded envelopes
recycled the rest of the boxes from my office at work
cleared out 2 pairs of falling to pieces pants (really need to get some new underwear: if I get run over by a bus my nan will turn in her grave).
recycled 8 empty plastic bottles (kept in case we needed to fill them up with water on trips - I have flasks for this!!)
    put up 4 pictures
managed an NSD by meal planning and decluttering (there are things I would like, but I am NOT allowed to buy them until my big list of decluttering tasks is finished, so no "incomers" other than cash today :))
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)

4 items gone this morning so far - bday pressie and card from stash and recycled packaging to send them in. Had a £10 budget for this pressie but should only cost £2-3 to post so have saved some pennies too! I have also sorted out a top to return which I ordered but doesn't fit. I have asked for an exchange but not sure whether they will still have stock so it may yet come back in at some point.

I have also sent DH out to return something he bought for me but wasn't quite what I was after. Not sure if the shop will do a return but I have given him an idea of something I need instead if he can only do an exchange. This is something that I do need so will save a few ££s here too.

Have been busy this morning and I now have our 2013 budget pretty much sorted out. It looks a bit dire but at least it is done. It will change quite a bit over the year as DH may start a new job and we are still setting the budgets for the house extension. All these variables were really putting me off doing it (normally try to get it done by new year's eve ready to start the new year) so I am very glad it is done. Some paperwork associated to this also decluttered in the process.

Sorted one box of books yesterday, photographing them and posting them up on fb for sale. DD was so impressed she went through her own book collection and sorted out around another 20!

    5 more items gone;

2 pyjama tops and 1 pair pyjama trousers which are too worn to re-use

And a pair of stick-on chicken fillets which have lost their 'stick'! - Ladies you know what I'm talking about :D

Edit - And a chopping device which was rubbish and didn't work!

It is nct.org.uk - I just checked my local branch, and they don't mention being a member to sell, but ask you to 'register' - it might be because I live in a densely populated bit of outer London - I used to help at the NN sales and the amount of stuff we'd receive (from members only back then) was mind-boggling  so they must have some sort of limit! But definitely work a look. Worth it to buy things, too (we'd have a queue outside an hour before the sale started ... )

I've gone through the cupboard in the dresser, but nothing there that needs to go. I did find an itchy wool cardigan in my wardrobe (I'm allergic to wool, no idea why I bought it!) which is in the CS bag now. Oh, and a packet of old wax strips, the wax was all dried up, so they are binned and the packaging recycled.
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.
