I was at work today so didn't expect to do any decluttering but felt lazy reading all you posts tonight. So I sat on the sofa with last year's calendar and transferred all birthdays/wedding anniversaries to the new online type calendar I'm using this year. I have set them all to repeat annually so I shouldn't have to do this job ever again! I am notoriously bad a remembering birthdays/ getting cards sent on time so I'm hoping this helps!! 2012 calendar is now in recycling bin which is an improvement as the last 5 years are in the study. These have all our 'baby' dates/milestones in and I just haven't been able to part with them yet. I will probably never look at them though so I may go with a suggestion which I saw somewhere on here to scan them so I can still save all the important info just in case I ever want to see it again.

Also parted with various other bits of paperwork from inside the calendar/ on the noticeboard which are no longer needed. Small steps!

My DH wandered in with some of the stuff I threw out the other day I had to ask him not to rehome my junk he doesn't need it, it's broken or it's old software that we don't have the computer for anymore... then he tells me I am the junk collector LOL...

  • Wow you lot have been busy!

I have chucked out 2 bags of rubbish from my bedroom :o

Aiming to go through the paperwork that is in little piles all over the place and throw 20 sheets of paper away each day. Managed a whole bag full today!

Like the idea of the putting a carrier bag of stuff on Ebay at a time so have done a bag today - it is sooo boring adding it all on though :p Need to keep my eye on the prize!

Well done everyone, love reading through it gives me a good kick up the bottom!!

Everybody is going great guns at the moment! Keep up the good work :)

I've been decluttering for long enough now that I have done all the easy, obvious things. It is more difficult now as I face the things that survived the first cut but I know in my heart do not belong here any more. Luckily I've only resolved to get rid of 1 item per day on average so I don't need to beat myself up if that's all I do.

    Today I:
    - binned two half-used hotel mini bottles of shampoo
    - binned one broken-beyond-future-use bungee cord
    - put a bottle of perfume in the charity shop pile (although not sure if they will accept it or not)

    Morning all

A good day yesterday with one bin bag sorted for the charity shop and one bin bag of rubbish.:j:jI want to get another bin bag of rubbish as we are allowed two extra over the festive period.

Most of the housework has been done so after an appointment this morning more decluttering. I have made a good start downstairs so I have decided to give the bedroom a few hours today so by the end of today I will be able to see a difference all over the house. I need to see a difference or I will get demotivated too easily. There is still loads to declutter from each room but they are already looking better and hopefully I will soon be able to start redecorating some of the rooms sooner rather than later.

I wish that I could sort the old baby clothes but I get too emotional about getting rid of them even though he will never fit into them again. Silly really. Perhaps a memory quilt from them is needed.

It's strange because even after a couple of days I feel so much lighter in myself.:D

  • Honeythief I am in a similar position, I like decluttering, and do it constantly, so it gets harder and harder to find things to declutter! I have identified a likely looking dresser cupboard to sort out today, but I don't think I'll find loads.

cashbackqueen if you join the NCT you can sell stufff at their Nearly New sales, it's a good way of getting rid of maternity clothes, baby stuff and toys.

    Morning everyone,

I have decluttered the fridge by making a pudding for the freezer out of the leftover cream and half a packet of left over digestive biscuits and a tin of condensed milk I have had for at least 6 months, I only had to buy a couple of lemons.
I also made curry for the freezer out of the leftover vegetables and my fridge is now lovely and tidy.

DD1 also decluttered a large box of chocolates to her friend's house last night but I am not sure that this counts!

    Happy decluttering everyone.:)
