Yesterday was a bit of an epic fail decluttering wise (well apart from food ;)) so I am going to try and clear one of the kitchen cupboards today. I even brought a box home to fill with things.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

I had a nice surprise yesterday when I came home from work. OH had finally sorted through his pile of mail which hasn't been done for months. Sideboard in hallway looks so much better now.

Mineallmine, I am glad I have inspired you to do the garden. It always surprises me how much you get done in the garden in 10 minutes.

Mineallmine & Yorkielass, great to hear that the no buying toiletries worked for you. My attitude has changed too, no nearly empty bottles hanging around for months or even years in the bathroom. I am still saving £1 for evey item I used up to keep the motivation going.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j

1 carrier bag of books to book bin at top of road
put out roll of lino for bin men to take. Still dont understand why i kept it.
Ds1 put out bins for me (with out being asked... mmm what is he after ).
Then decluttered some biscuits from cupboard. Had long bath flinging some empty shampoo bottles etc along the way. went to bed feeling happier than i have for along time.:D
  • Great progress everyone and I love it when decluttering makes money Ladyluck1 - I save up money from decluttering selling to use for storage solutions, when we moved last year I bought our new wardrobes and sofa from money made selling stuff & on quidco, surveys etc.

Cardigan I ordered and turned out colour is different online to in real life is going back today and I'm going to wear one I already have to the wedding instead, so money saving and space saving!

OH is making very slow progress on the decorating front, which is really frustrating, really wanted it done in 2 weeks time, if it isn't done then it won't be looked at again for 4 weeks. It's also slowing my decluttering journey.

Hope I'll be back with more positive decluttering soon.

  • Kitchen cupboard done. Full of lots of rubbish. Now cleared we can see what's what. Emptied everything out. Gave it a wipe and started putting like with like. Anything thats been hanging around too long unused is gone. Why keep stuff you dont use. This is a bit of winter prep too as I can see what stocks we have.

Feel a bit puffed so taking it easy now.

This is addictive stuff this decluttering :j
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

 Fab thread: Long daily walks
  • Out: spare (and very old) hairdryer, 3 nail clippers, old lotions that I will never use, old cosmetics. Old nail scissors and nail file.

I now have only one small bag of cosmetics:j and much less clutter in my bedroom.

I'm reading the Joy of Less and it's very inspiring.

Been away for a couple of nights for work and just now catching up with posts - lovely to read how productive everyone is!

Packing boxes in.... used an online company and the pack contains loads of flat pack boxes, bubble wrap, foam paper, wrapping paper, thick tape and tape dispenser too. Can't wait to get stuff in the boxes.

Did another kitchen cupboard this morning whilst waiting for eggs to boil. Just a narrow one but still found six bottles of things like wine vinegar, rice wine, soy sauce etc - all unopened and all with BB dates of 2007/8. They have been emptied, rinsed and are awaiting being taken to the dump.

All the old spices are gone too. In the end I put the out of date pasta and the unwanted tins into a bag and left in the back lane (we have an unemployed chap who regularly does dumpster dives in our big huge communal bins) and they disappeared very quickly. Don't feel so bad about them now as I didn't have to throw them away. If we had been staying here I would have kept them and eventually used the pasta.

Am really enjoying the ruthless mode I have engaged! I feel as if I am ridding myself of so much physical clutter and emotional clutter too. NOT keeping stuff because someone once gave it to me years ago - don't see them anymore and they won't get offended if it's not here when/if they visit (mind you, we won't be here either when/if they visit!!).

Right, shower, dressed, work and then some more packing/decluttering.
