Got another pile for the CS - muffin tins x 2, colander, sieve, cooling rack and so on. Haven't baked for about two years.

Most of the kitchen cupboards done now, just got two doubles under the worktop to investigate - think there are collections of tinned food hiding there and a load of unused electrical gadgets!

The flat is looking a right tip at the minute as things get taken out for decision making and then there's the various bags of stuff for 1)CS 2) tip 3) friends/family 4) keep 5) no idea/not sure.

Need to crack on - hope everyone else can see the end in sight.

Feeling really pleased with the progress done this weekend. I spent 2 hours in the garden yesterday, I can see the end of the tunnel in regards to preparing for the winter. I used up a packet of salt yesterday when sprinkling salt on the weed between the slabs on the patio. Then pooring kettle boiled water over it, the weed is more or less gone now.

While I was in the garden OH did meal planning, cooked dinner last night and marinated today's dinner.

Garden bin is being emptied today.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
    Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j
  • My bedroom is almost decluttered. Small set of shelves with ornaments taken down to be replaced with a painting ( I hated dusting those ornaments!). A few ornaments to the CS pile. A couple of drawers still to go through.

I am right into the 'get it out of the house' mode... it's almost scary!

In one of the hall drawers I found umpteen assorted power cables, including one bag labelled 'bits and pieces'. If I couldn't identify what they were for they got binned. Have to work out if I really want to put all this 'stuff' into storage and then into the new place - and mostly the answer is 'no'. It all gets put into cupboards and drawers as a sort of 'can't be bothered to deal with it right now' thought process and then never gets dealt with!

Hope everyone else is doing well too.

    I've had a good weekend:
    • Guiding bits definitely reduced in the house.
    • 6 items OH cleared out of his wardrobes 2 months ago that have sat on landing went to a CS
    • Spent an hour tidying front gardening, mowing lawn etc yesterday - green bin went out full this morning.
    • Managed to find old local mags to recycle and so paper recycling went out full too
    • sold a number of craft bits on Facebook, posting out today
    • started listing a big pile of clothing on Facebook, all 'quality' brands but things I don't wear anymore. 7 things listed and 4 sold almost straight away, will post out today :j:j

Then we went to Ikea on Friday night and bought all the storage for our dining room using the money I've made during the last year selling stuff, doing surveys, complaints etc. It's going to give us so much more space to store things, make use of the room a lot better and look nicer.

We've also been able to 'recycle' a book case & cd tower into the living room.

Also bought some storage for the 'utility' area of our kitchen which is a dumping ground and makes me cross. This will have cupboard doors and is slightly bigger than storage there now, and we can also configure a bit better.

So some bits out of the house, some new storage in which when we've finished decorating will be very carefully filled, and very little in otherwise, nothing 'unscheduled' in Ikea and just food and new slippers/underwear over the weekend all bought on offers and collected from shops in town.

Target is to list another 5 or 6 clothing items when I get home tonight, need to start saving for next 'project'.

  • Wow what a morning. Woke up in a bipolar manic mood so used the mania on de cluttering lol

    result:-

De cluttered the contents of 10 drawers now have 9 empty ones.
2 black bin liners full to the CS
    Rehomed 3 dvd set collections.
    Rehomed a leather binder
    All recycling put out.
As an added bonus weeded 2 flower beds.
Sadly by then the mania had subsided and the tiredness set in. At least I didn't go spending during the mania which is what I used to do a year ago till I learnt to channel the mania into cleaning jobs.

Found a load of old letters so now busy scanning them into the PC and will get rid of the paper. Trying hard not to read them as I scan as I'd be here for a week and crying my eyes out (letters from dead brother, dead dad, dead uncle etc) so must crack on. Seems odd tearing them up but I know I will read them more now that they are scanned.

Even found my Scottish Certificate of Education Ordinary Grade exam paper for Home Management dated May 1970! Now that brings back so many memories. Think I passed. :j

Just emptied out various half empty bottles of assorted unwanted booze that have been lurking for many many years. Keeping the good stuff and will give to my mother and not put into the storage unit.

Hope everyone is doing well - I do enjoy reading about all the chucking out being done. Keeps me going.

    :T
  • Well there is nothing else for it. Numerical targets push me to get rid of stuff I don't need.

So during October I'm aiming to declutter 500 things. The really bad areas are still very badly cluttered. And I'm spurred on by areas that have been decluttered. So this target should really push me.

500 things divided by 31 days of October = approx 16 things a day to declutter. Give or take. 16 things sounds kind of attainable. If I target the loft alone that will provide plenty of things :o

Right I'm off to add that to my sig. Feel free to join me (on a version of it that suits you) for October :T

Declutter 500 things in October challenge :j
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.

  • occurred to me today how nice it would be if I had someone at home to say well done for the de cluttering done so far but alas I live alone.

I would like there fore to say a huge WELL DONE to everyone in case they don't hear it enough single or not.

    Proud of you all xx

well done to all the declutteres youve all done brilliantly and given me a lot of motivation.

yesterday a spent 2 hours decluttering a load of ivy that had started to take over my front hedge - i got 5 big garden recycling bags out of it!! looks much better and hopefully should now be able to grow and breathe properly. downside was DH spent about 1/2 an hour picking thorns from my sore hands as the hedge is firethorn and i didnt wear gloves.

am in the process of decluttereing the last of a tube of face mask. so the tube has just gone in the recycling bin. one less thing on the bathroom shelf

dont know if ill manage it but 500 things out in october
    1. ivy and weeds from front
    2. tube of face mask
    3. pair of shoes to CS
    SPC~12 ot 124

In a world that has decided that it's going to lose its mind, be more kind my friend, try to Be More Kind
