4 toiletries
12 books
1 towelling bath mat
I won't do the counting thing every day as it'll make me too obsessive.
Want to do some more books tonight.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Hi everyone, I'm back as well! I did join in last year/early this year when we had the house on the market hoping to move. The move didn't happen, and since April I've been very slap-dash about decluttering, and have tended to hoard a bit too. New hobby - dolls house miniatures, so I've been buying tons of bits to renovate/decorate 4 of them!!!
As I write this I'm sitting in an airport lounge on the way back from my holiday in the US, where I've bought loads more 'stuff' that will go in my hobbies stash once I'm home. So the house needs another declutter, of my old craft stuff that I'm no longer interested in, and a whittling down of the new stuff. Plus the clothes I never got around to decluttering.
Mineallmine might remember me - we had a '100 things in 10 days' challenge last year. I like the new October challenge and will join in with that: already started on holiday as I had to leave some stuff behind to get it all in the cases! I'm a typical Libran (birthday on Friday) with trying to get the balance right between hoarding and decluttering. One part of me wants a nice, minimalist house that doesn't take too long to clean, the other part wants a 'shabby chic' type cluttered look. At the moment the cluttered side is winning, but once home I will concentrate on this challenge. Flight is in 4 hours and is 9 1/2 hours so I might not add much until Thursday!!!
Stuff left behind whilst packing suitcase
1. Old handbag
2. Pair of shorts
3. T-shirt
4. Top
5. Pillow (I always take my own as I can't sleep on foam ones, usually an old one so I don't have to take it home)
6. 12 magazines taken with me to read on plane
7. Piece of miniature furniture - too big for my dolls houses
8. Skirt that I've never worn and never did wear on holiday either
9. Wooden box I bought that I thought would come in handy: it would have, had it not been too big for my case!
10. 2 pairs trousers
11. Pair of socks
12. Airline bag (bought a set of 3 to bring stuff home in, only used 2!!)
13. Little plastic prams - bought 6, brought 2 home
There is more, but I can't remember them at the moment, no doubt will remember when I unpack!
So...... carry on decluttering for October everyone. I'm going to label mine as 'October Outage'.....Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Hi can I join. Im on the messy thread but my needs cross to both. Iv got someone calling on Friday to give a quote on a ton of carp that needs dumping. DD room was gutted this year and our cellar was full of junk.
Im going to try and find more carp to dump that the bin men wont take ready for the man van.0 -
Gosh - there is so much stuff being chucked out all around the country! Scary.
The cupboard of doom was tackled and I found yet more tins of tomatoes and some baked beans microwave pots. These are out of date but I am sure they will be OK, though I do now have about eight lots of beans and six of tomatoes. As these can't go in the storage unit I will have to pass them onto friends (the tomatoes at least!).
Got a load of stationery to give to a friend and there are more drawers to trawl through. It feels really good to be doing this as I find that stuff clutters the mind and fogs the body. Now I can see that I have loads of space.
Been in this place for over twenty years in the middle of Newcastle but SO longing for the open spaces and remoteness of the new place in Scotland.
Also spent some time yesterday doing the official 'I am moving house' letters to various organisations which need to know. There are so many.
Hope everyone has a good Thursday slinging out stuff!0 -
Well I have directed my OH from the couch and we managed to clear out three kitchen cupboards and have a box of stuff ready to go on ebay or to the charity shop.
Also looked out a pile of DVDs to goto Music Magpie and I am going to sort out some DIY things to go on free cycle. I feel better alreadyTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Of course I remember you as well as many others here. You inspired all of my numerical declutter targets. I had never heard of things like get rid of 100 things in 10 days until you posted about it. Good to see you back. I did a declutter on a recent holiday too. I took t shirts I knew I need to declutter, last dregs of toiletries to use up and so on. Hope you had a safe journey home.
I cannot tell you all how amazing the under the sink cupboard now looks. I almost want to invite neighbours in to see it! Look. Just look at how tidy she now is.
I targeted some make up to use up today. A sachet of foundation. And damn it I love it. It's so much better than what I've been using (a mineral foundation with poor coverage). So as much as I really shouldn't I'm going to buy it but only once I have decluttered 500 items this month. I can concentrate on using some of the unloved ones up in the meantime. I am still aiming for a single make up bag. I've got a small drawers worth at the moment.
Right then I'm off to empty the cutlery drawer of everything. Give it a clean. And see if I need to declutter anything.

Emptied the cutlery drawer and the drawer that holds spices etc. Both now look much less busy and cluttered.

Apart from clearing up the few bits that won't now fit in the reorganised man drawer (tools, nails etc) I think I also need to revisit the cupboards that contain Pyrex and baking tins. If something is in there sitting unused I'd rather have the space and donate the bits to a charity.
The current plan of doing one cupboard or drawer at a time is working quite well.
