  • Great to read everyone's progress. I plan to tackle the kitchen next. That's broken down into lots of baby steps. Like sort the spice drawer. The man drawer. And so on.

Becky2 - I need to sort the garden. You've inspired me to give that a go this week. Or ask hubby too.

Big daft kid - I did that toiletries challenge a while ago like becky2. I have to say that it changed how I bought and used stuff. My final aim is to get my make up down to just 1 make up bag. That's all my mum had and its all I need. Happy pampering.

Parsonswife8 - you can achieve a lot in an hour. One mini project at a time.

Gers - yay! those £2.99 huge litre capacity black bags from Lidl are so good. Now fill em up! PS: recycling, charity donating etc where possible :)

Lady Luck - Welcome :j great progress already

Rummer - me too! And in our bedroom, a red plastic thing. Asked hubby. Oh that's for a car battery. What?! How?

MoaningMyrtle - have you ever made Twinks with porridge oats, a bit like home made hob nobs.

Highland lady72- I plan to get all paperwork in hand too. :j

  • Hello, I am joining you all! Perhaps a tad late for 2013, but I recently started on my decluttering as well as sorting out what cleaning products and toiletries I had! Put it this way I don't think I will be needing anymore before 2014!

I have planned to make some soon. Need to do my make-up too mineallmine. Inspired by your post I just binned three dry mascaras, will do some more tomorrow.

mineallmine, good luck with your garden. Last year I started to prepare our garden for the winter in November which wasn't very pleasant. That's why I feel inspired to do this now when the sun is shining.

This week we are making red pepper soup we have at least 10 red peppers in the fridge from our pepper plant. Once cooked I will freeze into lunch box portions.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

  • Today is the day of the kitchen!
At 35 weeks pregnant not sure how I'll manage but the urge to sort and clean is just too overwhelming......
All that needs binning is going in the bin and may find a few bits to charity shop/sell too.
Hope everyone has a productive day :)

  • Need to drop off some charity bags today. And start sorting the kitchen. That's the next room I'll try to focus on alone.
I'll start with the one big wall cupboard. I'll get everything out, give it a wipe and reorganise it. I have a couple of Tupperware containers with no lids so they can be used maybe to store / group some bits together.

Twisted cherry - welcome. Never too late to join in.

Moaning Myrtle - I've been rationing the number of make up brushes I have too. Gave a friend a load. And of course they took up storage space.

Becky2 - I will definitely do a 10 minute mini tidy today in the garden. Thanks for the inspiration.

Ladyluck1 - maybe do bursts of decluttering then have a rest. Don't overdo it. One drawer or cupboard at a time.

Mrsm - you've been busy. Our rag & bone (scrap) man would snaffle that iron for the metal. I've left all odd bits out for them. Thank goodness you had a spare.

  • Spent an hour out tidying the garden yesterday as the weather was so nice, was long overdue. Think the previous owners of the house spent every day applying weed killer to the patio, looks like it's not been laid properly, another thing to sort. Anyway green bin full so we must have done some good yesterday.

Only things in over the weekend were food, that's not bad going.

Not a lot of other decluttering, just a bit of pottering around putting stuff in right rooms, adding things that should be recycled/thrown away to bins etc.

I did the cosmetics challenge too a few years ago, and I've completely broken the 'buying things in Bo*ts because they're on offer' cycle and don't have a stash at all any more, apart from one or two things that have been on offer so I have one for when the current runs out. Feel much happier this way.

Mineallmine Glad that it is not just me ;)

Today I am going to tackle the kitchen as it is tidy but the cupboards are fit to bursting and they could do with a good scrubbing too. Hopefully I will clear some stuff out and get it to the charity shop tomorrow.

I am also going to get my DD to have a good clear out as she is drowning in clothes and bits of plastic.

Does it count if you have "decluttered" two packets of crisps and a big slice of cake??
