Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

I have collected another two bags of stuff today for the charity shop. I am also thinking of giving them my unused (and still boxed up) garden canopy.
I've got my DH to go into the loft and get down the duvets stored up there. We have two king size duvets which we are keeping but then also two single sized duvets and a mattress topper.
I think I might have to get rid of these but I'm not sure what to do with them.0 -
Loads of decluttering done recently.
Cleared out the airing cupbaord and took lots of towels to the CS. Found some children's towels for the beach - the kind they put over their heads and wear as a cape - so now I don't have to buy one for my toddler for our summer holiday.
Cleared out the filing cabinet where I keep statements, receipts and old electricals etc. Threw away some old papers and found a few vintage electrics to go on eBay.
Cleared out under the sink in the kitchen and found some cleaning sprays that I can now put to use around the house. After doing this I cleaned the oven with the oven cleaner I'd found, I Febreezed the front room with the Febreeze spray and deflea-ed the cat with, you guessed it, the flea spray I found
I also defrosted the fridge and threw away out of date pickles and sauces that were lurking there.
And finally I weeded the back and front gardens and half filled a bin liner.
With all this decluttering I'm trying really hard not to buy anything else and bring it into the house. But recently I visited the M&S sale and bought lots of children's toys and books, all at half price or better. I can justify these purchases, though, as there are lots of children in the family and this will save me money on Christmas and/or birthday presents. It's only temporary clutter0 -
Garden bin now filled up (again) after getting emptied on Friday.
Greenhouse has finally been emptied of all the junk in it - plant pots, old hand push lawnmower, broken watering cans.
Greenhouse sold to a neighbour. (As I only used it as a dumping ground). Plus he has put new felt on shed roof for me yesterday afternoon as well.
Bit of a clear out of garage & garage floor swept.
2 trips to the tip/dump with the stuff from the greenhouse & garage.
Inside of car hoovered & dashboard given a once over clean. (Outside of car still has to be washed).
House hoovered & 2 loads of washing done (now dried, folded & put away)0 -
Yesterday I finally managed to sort out the cupboard under the stairs. Didn't throw anything away but have utilised the space more so now the utility room look less cluttered. Have given OH a few spare cables and remote controls for him to decide what to throw away.
OH went to the tip yesterday and threw away 2 broken plastic chairs and more cardboard boxes.
Back to work today so probably wont be doing anymore decluttering until the weekend. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Took 6 bin bags of clothes to clothes for cash type shop and weighed them in for £16.
I have previously just taken old clothes to charity shops but with money as tight as it is, every penny counts.0 -
Was making good progress but its ground to a halt, I had been hoping to be fully decluttered by Christmas (aim was to declutter all 2013) but looking unlikely. Hard to notice the difference even though we have gotten rid of tons of stuff!Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card
Rehome an unwanted prize or gift with a seriously ill child through Postpals.co.uk0 -
School holibobs have kicked in so I'm dejunking and degrotting again. Once again I'm tackling the study (aka Room of doom
). Whilst it isn't a pretty sight, it is less of a disaster zone than this time last year or the year previous. Clearly I *am* getting better at bringing less junk home from school, and knowing what I genuinely need to keep. Bag of paper to shred is filling nicely. Bag for life of things to go back to school is filling up. Pile of things I need to look through properly and then action is not too big at the moment. And this time I WILL get around to hanging the pictures that have been leaning against the walls since we moved in almost 3 years ago
:D
