Got 2 bags/boxes sorted, just a tiny drop in the ocean but 2 boxes closer. Mostly was stuff for my charity and a lot of random gifts I had brought to give to people about 10 years ago (there's lots of challenge threads on OS, I think there should be a 'don't go on grabbit now and be tempted by amazing bargain' challenge! I hope everyone manages to declutter something this weekendBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Our oven is being cleaned this morning by an oven cleaning company, this is such a luxury having this done.
OH is currently being involved in doing decluttering with baby steps without me asking which is great. Last night he started to tidy up the garage, a big pile of paperwork from the garage is awaiting shredding a task that we will both share. He will be sorting out one box every weekend which is my decluttering philosophy. Today he will sort out his fishing kit and store it the garage which means that the utility room will look a bit better.
I am planning to clean the window in the kitchen and tidy up the window sill once the oven cleaning has finished.
The sun is shining over here so the washing line is full of clothes.
Happy decluttering everyone however small the task is.No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Not so much decluttered as packed today. All my books, dvds and cds are now in carrier bags (as boxes are too heavy to lift) in preperation for my move next week. There is a lot!!
Got loads of little bits and pieces of stuff that was on the shelves with the books and dvds to sort through and organise next.
Need to pop down to the charity shop to drop a few bags off, then I can make a start on the bedrooms. I think I'm going to leave the kitchen until last.Starting mortgage balance 22/04/2013 £71,250

New to posting in this thread. Glad I found something along these lines.
Having lived alone for 11 years and done a minor spring clean and declutter every year, I am having to now be completely ruthless as I am planning to move in with my boyfriend and it may mean that he comes to stay here for a while.
I have started today and thrown away anything that is not deemed suitable for recycling, charity shops etc. I have put a lot of things aside for a car boot sale and put some clothes on ebay.
However, I am really struggling to get rid of some things even though I know they are taking up space and are useless to me now. Does anyone have this problem? A lot of things are sentimental but I keep telling myself that it is probably seen as junk to others :embarasse
To give you some idea:- Spare double quilt - I have a spare room with it's own single bed and quilt but people rarely stay now
- Videos - I do have a VHS player that still works so feel reluctant to get rid of them
- CDs - Have nothing to play them on
- Teddy bears - Most bought from family with 'Special Auntie/Friend/Daughter' etc written on
- Cards - Good Luck ones from when I went travelling. Love to re-read them
I think I am a bit of a hoarder and really really want to get out of this before I move but I find throwing things out very hard0 -
:wave:Rachylou1981, welcome to this inspiring thread. I would suggest to only get rid off things when it feels right for you. For instance, could the CD's be stored in a nice looking box until you have a CD player? Good luck with this challenge. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

The oven looks like new now, it took the oven cleaning company 4 hours to clean. Once they left, I cleaned the kitchen window & frame on the inside and decluttered the windowsill. I cleanded the kitchen cupboard doors last weekend so feel really pleased with the kitchen right now. OH spent time in the garage and sorted out the fishing kit and shredded loads of paperwork. I am realising now that we declutter better apart on different things rather than trying to do it together.
I also changed the bed linen today and hoovered upstairs. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Had a fantastic declutter yesterday! It's amazing what you can do in a bit of nice weather....we have a brick porch at the back, which over the years has become a right gloryhole, with wellies, fishpond stuff, washing powders, recycling tubs, old paint... you name it, it's ended up there. All now emptied, cleaned, walls wiped down with bleach, shelves fixed, ready for the next 10 years.......0
