:wave:Rachylou1981, welcome to this inspiring thread. I would suggest to only get rid off things when it feels right for you. For instance, could the CD's be stored in a nice looking box until you have a CD player? Good luck with this challenge.
Hi Becky
Well now and the rest of this year is the perfect time really because when I move I don't want to have to take any more than necessary and only want things that are useful to the new home.
I won't ever buy a CD player again so the CDs are useless. I should download them onto my iPod and then I will probably feel better getting rid of them0 -
A pretty good week on the de-cluttering front.
I've finally finished the sorting of the old photos, which are not neatly stored in their new boxes in the loft.
I also took the opportunity to sort some old paperwork that was lurking up there
All this work is starting to make a difference, there is certainly more space up there now.
However, there s still more work to be done. My general plan is to eBay oddments that I've found hanging around, continue eBaying my 1970's postcard collection, and then to start eBaying our old vinyl LP's.
Rachylou I've also got a load of CD's that could go - I love my iPad and just don't buy CD's anymore. I'll get round to that later!
Mr Goldie is supposed to be working on scanning the photographic slides, but he hasn't started yet. If he doesn't make a start soon I'll have to start nagging !!
The rest of the things in the loft are quite large, so I think I'll have to get one thing out at a time to deal with, as I don't want to re-clutter the house.
So I'll still be fairly busy!
My summary for the week
227 2 x cheap broken cameras –electrical recycling
228 Papers relating to MIL’s death 1996 – recycling
229 Papers belonging to late MIL from late 70’s to early80’s – recycling
230 two books – Greenmetropolis
231 2 pairs old socks – bin
232 Old modem – electrical recycling
233 1990’s unused phone card - eBay
234 Fossil – eBay
235 3 x 1970’s postcards
236 1990’s WWF programme
Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hi Everyone...
So sorry I have been absent, missed catching up with you all..:o
My boys & I have been so very busy cleaning and clearing out that I've just not made it on here to say anything! (not even watched ANY television for 3 days:eek:)
My garden has been cleared of all manner of things, old wood, broken bits & taken to the tip.. I've given away sleepers, compost bins, water butts & recycled as much as possible.. definately a deep clean going on, it's been the same in the house too.. so much has gone it's unreal.. it almost feels empty, there are spaces everywhere that I'm not sure I even want to fill!
I have today sent an e-mail to the admin to request a name change to stop the possiblity of things getting difficult for me (long story..) mainly due to explaining my difficulties on here & in another post.. ho hum..
I've started cleaning all the windows & staining the shed/chicken house & fences too... feel like I'm on a roll, still a little bit left of the ex's belongings, he'll have until the new shed arrives to get it sorted!
Thanks again for all your support & I promise to catch up with you all asap xx :A xx"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇🥇🥇0 -
Well, despite not being active (just reading) on the thread. You guys have kept me super motivated. More boxes to the charity shop today. Lots of things gone via carboot. There's a box of books waiting to go to the charity book store.
So much space now I have been able to get my books down from the loft. Result. They've been there since we moved.
Thank you for keeping me on the straight and narrow guys!0 -
This thread has been very motivational!

AARRGGHHH!!!
Does anyone want to come and do my packing? Still feel like I have loads to do.
I've binned one bag of rubbish and about the same of recycling and shredding.
Still surrounded by loads of little bits and pieces that I don't know what to do with.
Got all my toiletries and stationary packed apart from the stuff I'll need for the next few days.
Went through the flats inventory to see check I still have everything. This resulted in me realizing that some stuff I thought was mine wasn't so I'll need to replace it for my new house.
The inventory did not specify how many bowls and what design they were which is good since I found a Rupert Bear Wedgwood bowl amongst them. Think I'll keep that.
Will try to pack some more clothes tonight. Once they're all done there'll just be the kitchen and othe random bits and pieces.Starting mortgage balance 22/04/2013 £71,250

Four hours?!!! Was it really that bad?
I know, I couldn't believe it either. Apparantely our oven was an average dirty oven. They took all the parts out including the rails and scrubbed them, the oven shines now. Today I have put aluminium foil at the bottom of the oven to stop food sticking. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Today I hoovered downstairs and did all the ironing. All the paperwork on one of the chairs in the dining room has now either been filed or shredded. Tomorrow I am putting out the recycling bin to be emptied with another couple of cardboard boxes from the garage going. Probably wont the be doing anymore decluttering now until next weekend.
